Characters we care about
For one don’t say “we”
Characters we care about
For one don’t say “we”
Nope.
Does imperialscum jerk off when he’s being an irritation?
Vote now.
You could simply ask me. I am a nice honest person.
The answer is that I do not see how am I being an irritation as my behaviour here has always been utmost decent. Even if someone found such behaviour irritating for some reason, no I would not jerk off on that.
it has no impact on the plot
Finding him was the plot…
No, it was not. As I said, the plot was rehashed ANH plot. Finding Luke was a completely useles header and footer.

his disappearenceLike showing a flashback of him disappearing?
No. Like going around the planets and find clues, characters, etc. related to it. That is what I meant when I said KOTOR, not the plot twist, which is irrelevant in what I am talking about.
A proper way to do it would be to actually make something out of it. Luke, his disappearence, reasons for his disappearence, etc. should be an integral part of the story. The plot, through characters, should gradually uncover pieces and clues to that. See KOTOR for how something like that is done properly.
What we have now in TFA is ANH rehash wrapped into a completely useless finding Luke “header” and “footer”.

Well that would be way better than how it is now.Would have made the film felt like a huge waste.
It already feels like that so I don’t think that would be the problem.
So if TFA ended with Rey getting on the Falcon to go find Luke, that would have been a better ending than her finding Luke?
Yes, that would be lightyears better. On the downside, it would make “finding Luke” plot element even more useless in this film as it already is.
Lol what? You’re acting as if the film ended just before she got on the world.
Well that would be way better than how it is now.
With that said, we should definitely have a vote on the question of my vote being counted correctly or not.
motion denied. It is my thread, my poll, my rules, I determine whether or not a vote counts.
Whatever you say mr. General Doctor Warbler, President of this Banana Republic.

lame… you need a random filler to make it a little less lameI didn’t even say what the First Order or Knights of Ren scene would be about so how the fuck could you say it would be filler based on nothing? Also ESB started with The Empire sending out probe droids across the galaxy and ROTJ started with Vader going to the 2nd Death Star to oversee it’s building process so it wouldn’t be the first time we had villains being in the opening scene.
The content of a filler really doesn’t matter. It is still a filler in the end.
Please don’t compare this crap to OT. ANH did not end up with torpedo just before entering the DS shaft. ESB did not end up just before Luke stepped in front of Jabba.

Now how will you start the sequel?Probably with some miscellaneous First Order and/or Knights of Ren scene and then cutting to Luke and Rey where we left them off.

without it being lame…
Other than the length of the awkward staring the scene was handled relatively well and creates suspense around what is going to be said in their first interaction. As it pertains to VIII they only have to stare at each other for like 5 seconds or something until the first line is spoken.
Now how will you start the sequel?
There are still racial stereotypes in the film. That is the only fact that should be in play as it pertains to the topic.
Get that nonsense out of your head already…
That is your opinion.
Well I must admit that the guy has a point. If it was a proper ending, it would be like ESB when they set on something (she would not meet Luke in this film), or we should at least have some (small) conclusion from the scene in terms of dialogue. The way it is now is really bad, especially it makes it awkward for the sequel.

That is exactly what I meant by people trying to push their opinion on others. I cannot stand it. I am not going to acknowledge your opinion as a fact. You being willfully ignorant because reasons doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.
That is not ignorant. That is being intelligent enough to hold my own opinion and not let some <insert bad word> on internet try to push their own opinion upon me.
Also this conversation isn’t about opinions; TPM has racial stereotypes. End of discussion.

You don’t have to care about the racial stereotypes but you should at least acknowledge that they’re there.

I don’t keep track of all the people turning a blind eye to the stereotypes in TPM and what their particular excuses are.
I don’t care about any alleged stereotypes and I couldn’t care less if someone thinks they might be racist. That is as long as they only present it as their opinion and not try to push it on others (which is what you are trying to do).

Well I would be interested in something alternative like that… but unfortunately majority of the intended audience likes popcorn stuff like TFA and such film would not sell. You could say that SW and ROTJ are pretty much popcorn films too. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Star Wars are fun space movies with a bit of depth to them and that’s all you need to make a good one.
Well OT has a lot of depth. TFA felt completely empty. I would say, while annoying, at least PT had more depth than TFA.
I can’t really imagine an Obi-Wan film set after ROTS without them making up any ridiculous stuff. Sonce he should have been living on Tatooine foe the entire time, I don’t think many would be interested in slice-of-life on Tatooine type of film.
They could just have the plot be about Obi-Wan protecting a settlement from criminals and/or Tusken Raiders or something.

I think this is appropriate…

Nobody likes you and this has been stated repeatedly.
Well… thank you for this information.
One of my older brothers told me that someone he was talking to said something to the effect of “George Lucas already has the scripts for episodes 7 8 and 9 written.” This was back in like, 2007.
I was told the same thing back in 1999 or so.
Give Lucas a few hours and he will deliver finished scripts for 7-8-9 (even 10-11-12 if you offer him a cup of coffee). Not good, but finished. But if you want a STAR WARS quality script, he needs 4 years/10 hours of work per day. I would very much like to read the synopsis of the ST he “sold” to Disney in 2012… I’m pretty sure it’s American graffiti with x-wings and tie-fighters (like R1 is Divergent with x-wings and tie-fighters…).
Your math is wrong. Lucas hates writing, he’d never finish a script in a few hours. The PT is the result of him spending years and working hours per day (though mainly just staring at a blank page I’d imagine). To get a good script out of him you’d need a team of people constantly providing feedbacks and critiques. Otherwise it’ll be shite.
Well judging from some of the avilable transcripts of script meetings for ESB and ROTJ, he would dismiss most of the feedback when it comes to characters and scenes. However, I do think he needs someone to write dialogue for his characters and scenes (like Kasdan in ESB and ROTJ).
People just need to start using ignore user option.
Not currently a forum-supported option.
People need to realize the ignore option is something that existed before computers.
