What the heck is RE#?

As for Force Awakens, that’s in limbo. Will wait to see his this new trilogy holds up as a whole.
That’s a pretty smart stance imo
If VIII and IX end up sucking I’ll probably end up putting the ST out of my personal canon so that I may reinsert the Thrawn Trilogy.
RE# ended up sucking and basically already stained the whole ST.
That’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard. The PT would have been looked upon with favor if AOTC and ROTS were good films and we all know it. We would have seen TPM as a bumpy start to a good - amazing trilogy and the one you have to sit through to get to the good stuff. And to me ROTJ is a huge drop in quality in comparison to SW and ESB but the OT in it’s totality still works for me. You’re just looking for an excuse to hate the ST. No matter how good VIII or IX could be all you’ll be saying is that you think TFA sucks instead of judging the films based on their own merit.
The thing about the trilogy concept is that the setting and the story continue and characters remain the same. I did not like the setting and the story (rehash crap) and I did not like characters. These things will not just magically disappear in VIII and IX.
And I am not just an grumpy old OT fan either. I loved R1 because it was actually good. RE# on the other hand was unfortunately crap.
I’m screenshotting this for when such a time arises so I can shove it right back in your face.
I am not sure what would you be trying to achieve? I might not even see VIII and IX. And even if I will, they will be strongly tied to what RE# introduced, so the probability of me actually liking them is rather low.

Is it really difficult to understand that this thread is about “personal canon”, not official canon?
Apparently they’re on in the same to Alderaan…
First Frink and now him.
I understand what official canon is, I just don’t give a shit about it.
Lol. I am sorry you cannot keep up cognitively with this very simple thing.

I don’t believe in canon. I just watch the movies I like and ignore the ones I don’t.
That’s a good way to put it. Official canons set by a bunch of guys at marketing shouldn’t effect what you enjoy from a specific franchise, and is one of the worst things to happen to entertainment in the past 10-20 years. Canon should only be important to the people writing a coherent narrative.
Except that this thread is not asking for official canon.
ROTJ has that horrible music sequence which drives me nuts. It’s a foreshadowing of the cringe-worthy moments in the prequels, me thinks.
I disagree that any scene in ROTJ is “horrible”
What of Ewok story time? That was pretty bad man…
I actually like the story time scene…
Me too.
The only scenes that are actually horrible in ROTJ are some special editions scenes (Hayden, NOOO and Jedi Rock).

Bravo! Accepting some and ignoring the rest is essentially personal canon.
OT and R1.
When it comes to Ford and Ehrenreich, they are certainly both handsome. However their face features are very different. Ford has much more manly face, while Ehrenreich has more feminine look to it.
Anyway, for me that is irrelevant because as long as it is a different actor I will be taken out of the film.
…I agree with you.
You are one of them as well. You might like RE# but you still complained about PT while seeing all of it.
Whoever it was who was already expecting to hate the Han movie because of “modern pretty boy actors” is what made me post, I forget who it was already. This general hatred for all things contemporary that I see here sounds like an awful way to live.
Edit: I checked again and Darth Id actually said that.
As for my issue with diffident actor for the same character concept, it takes me out of the film in the same way as CGI takes some people out the film. I simply cannot stand it appearance-wise.
This place seriously makes me wonder how I’ve made it this far in life retaining my ability to enjoy things. The style of fandom a lot of you seem to practice sounds miserable.
I retain my ability to enjoy good things. I enjoyed R1. But I have never had the ability enjoy crap like PT and TFA.
Everybody’s going to be surprised when the Han Solo movie is great and I’m going to be here thinking I’ve been saying that all along.
Well I am not saying the film itself will be good or bad. I am just saying (from experience) that a new actor will not work for me.
Is anyone else totally apathetic regarding the new Star Wars movies?
After TFA set such shitty foundations, I do not feel like seeing the rest of the trilogy.
As for spinoffs, it depends on the topic. R1 seemed interesting and I was very pleased with it in the end. Han Solo film with a new actor seems like a bad idea and I am not interested.
Orange juice.
Galen didn’t construct the DS, only the laser.
The film suggests he was in charge of the whole thing, since Tarkin took over the control of the Death Star from him.
Krennic was in control, not Galen.
Right. I replied to the wrong post. I tried to reply to doubleofive.

I would like to compliment generalfrevious’ dedication in reminding us of our impending destruction.
I don’t know why everyone is making jokes over something that will destroy every aspect of our lives.
Because nothing matters anymore. At least we want to be destroyed happy.
Okay, I see.
Bingo’s analogy about mental illness being no different than a physical malady is apt and one I use myself quite often. Of course, in the legal realm it’s hard to say what should and shouldn’t be done, but in terms of how its treated by society and healthcare, it should be the same. You don’t tell someone with a broken femur to just “walk it off” or “get over it” because that’s ridiculous, and it should be the same with depression or schizophrenia or any mental illness.
It should definitely not be treated the same as physical injury. The body can recover from many physical injures by itself usually after a short hospital treatment (i.e. you can “walk it off”). Mental illness is way more serious, usually does not just go away and should be given more attention.
Nevertheless, my point was that you cannot just turn a blind eye when someone is breaking a law, like Bingo suggested.
If you scream at the top of your voice in a Church for fun it’s an offensive and probably breaks some kind of civil law.
If you make the same disruption because of a gallstone it’s not your fault. You need medical attention and probably a stay in hospital.
If you make the same disruption because of schizophrenia it’s not your fault. You may need medical attention and possibly a stay in hospital.
The brain is an organ of the body. The mind is an emergent property of the body.
An unwell mind or damaged brain is no different from an unwell gall bladder or a broken arm.
Circumstances are considered in proportion to the seriousness of offence. If you scream because of the stomach pain and happen to break the noise regulation law that will be taken into consideration. Like a cop may pardon you for a minor non-repetitive offence.
If you harm property or even people that is an entirely different proportion. Such thing should be dealt with and prevented in future regardless whether it is related to mental health or not.
And no, in this case brain is not equal to other organs as it directly controls the person’s actions. Your broken leg cannot intrinsically harm other people. Abnormal brain function can.
It is very simple really. All citizens are equal before the law. If you break the law you should be sanctioned. Mental health should not give one any privileges when it comes to the law. It should just determine whether you will be dealt by the criminal justice system or mental institution.
If you have a mental illness and do something out of character it shouldn’t be treated the same way as if someone just chose to do something.
Sometimes institutions are needed, sometimes not. It’s an act of injustice to treat the unwell in the same way as the well.
Like I said, all should be equal before the law otherwise law is useless. If you break the law, institutions are needed. If you do not break the law, institutions are not needed.
Mental illness in many cases defines ones character or changes it. So “out of character” is bs. Like I said, if one cannot understand the law they break, they should obviously not be dealt by the criminal justice system. Instead, they should be dealt by the appropriate alternative institutions. In any case, the law breaking should be stopped.
