Info: Back to the Future - without DNR & EE
Time

Wow, thanks for the topic link, Mike!

Would love to see how good/bad these HI-Vision LD look for real.

To be clear, we don't have this master in good quality. I believe it's the same master used for the classic LD which is not the same as the current 2002 master.

In the video at the end you can see that it has the "To Be Continued" title card.

Even if it looks "slightly" better than a DVD I would be still glad to have a copy.

Info & Discussion: Fullscreen Laserdisc / DVD Preservations
Time

The Back To The Future trilogy is available in open matte on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD.

I have another film with Michael J. Fox called "The Secret of My Success" on Laserdisc and it's open matte.

On Laserdisc, I also have Predator (P&S), The Twilight Zone (I think it's P&S), Frantic with Harrison Ford (P&S).

All of these are French Laserdiscs besides the BTTF trilogy.

Spider-Man 1 & 2 are available in Fullscreen on DVD. Spider-Man is a true open matte presentation since it was filmed on flat 35mm. The second movie was shot on Super35 in 2.39:1 so it's half opened/half cropped exactly like T3.

The Big Lebowski does exist on DVD and it's a true open matte version without any real cropping issues.

BeetleJuice, The Faculty, The Matrix trilogy, Reservoir Dogs... all of these are available on Fullscreen DVDs as well.

Info: 35mm Film Preservation with the BlackMagic Cintel Film Scanner...

Erfff... if only it were true...

:)

Anyways, thanks for completing my post I've learned something new today!

I think this scanner should work like a charm with 35mm copies but they're not going to tell: "Now you can finally scan all your 35mm theatrical copies for a reasonable price" on their site since it's not completely legal to own one. That was the goal of my initial post.

I have seen the German "To be continued" card. Contrary to the Part 2 card, it looked quite digital and low-res to me (rather pixelated). However, that might have been just the German home video editing process.

Interesting! Would love to see what it looks like.

They kept the English title card for the French home video releases.

Here it is: https://mega.co.nz/#!yUcnjDRb!T4yamo18sIvro5gzrSvU4bgO5ImqXFcFxR3mqd9MoR4

Beside the typical laserdisc noise you can clearly see some film dust which makes me think it was actually printed on 35mm.
