The BTTF trilogy posters made my Struzan, were completely amazing IMO.

Wow, thanks for the topic link, Mike!
Would love to see how good/bad these HI-Vision LD look for real.
To be clear, we don't have this master in good quality. I believe it's the same master used for the classic LD which is not the same as the current 2002 master.
In the video at the end you can see that it has the "To Be Continued" title card.
Even if it looks "slightly" better than a DVD I would be still glad to have a copy.
Yo guys!
Look what I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlPTtdj49Wo
I want a digital copy of that thing!
If anybody here speaks Russian, maybe this dude could cap the movie and share it...
Such a lovely topic!

Huh, I checked LDDB before I posted and did not see it listed!
Thanks guys.
You mean, this? http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/31357/147835/Star-Wars:-Le-retour-du-Jedi-(1983)
I have a copy of this one in my LD collection.
The master is better on this one. ANH for example looks terrible while ESB looks ok.
And yes the actual disc is golden, such a good looking object.

With digital films, the quality is never that good.
Isn't TFA shot on 35mm film?
Like you said, I think it's probably the hair floating in the wind: it looks done on-set, doesn't look fake. Also, to me this shot resembles the one with Luke just after he saw his house burning.
Agreed.
Maybe it only does that in some countries idk. Try searching qmdbag.com on Google and you'll come across an originaltrilogy.com link in the results.

The Back To The Future trilogy is available in open matte on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD.
I have another film with Michael J. Fox called "The Secret of My Success" on Laserdisc and it's open matte.
On Laserdisc, I also have Predator (P&S), The Twilight Zone (I think it's P&S), Frantic with Harrison Ford (P&S).
All of these are French Laserdiscs besides the BTTF trilogy.
Spider-Man 1 & 2 are available in Fullscreen on DVD. Spider-Man is a true open matte presentation since it was filmed on flat 35mm. The second movie was shot on Super35 in 2.39:1 so it's half opened/half cropped exactly like T3.
The Big Lebowski does exist on DVD and it's a true open matte version without any real cropping issues.
BeetleJuice, The Faculty, The Matrix trilogy, Reservoir Dogs... all of these are available on Fullscreen DVDs as well.

Is that a French fanboy?
I think he meant: "framboise".

The color timing could quite possibly be messed up.
It's been color-timed so many times now, who the hell knows what's correct?
The colors on the last shots of your LPP remind me of my '89 French Laserdisc:

Maybe because the print is slightly faded.
The color timing could quite possibly be messed up.
I've seen some Laserdisc caps on the LDDB forum and it's the same master as the 99 DVD. The 35mm print has a totally different color timing though.

Awesome! Is that 8 reels?
mj0012 said: So, say for example you get your hands on a 35mm copy of Back to the Future from the 1985 U.S. theatrical release
Erfff... if only it were true...
:)
Anyways, thanks for completing my post I've learned something new today!
I think this scanner should work like a charm with 35mm copies but they're not going to tell: "Now you can finally scan all your 35mm theatrical copies for a reasonable price" on their site since it's not completely legal to own one. That was the goal of my initial post.

(notice nowhere on the product info page does it ever say it is for scanning prints)
Yeah, because in the U.S it's actually illegal to own a 35mm copy of a copyrighted movie.

Was that changed much for the SE?
The color timing was indeed heavily changed.
Awesome news poita!!!
I would love to see the scene where Luke and Owen are buying the droids or the binaury sunset would also be awesome!
Thanks ;)

I have seen the German "To be continued" card. Contrary to the Part 2 card, it looked quite digital and low-res to me (rather pixelated). However, that might have been just the German home video editing process.
Interesting! Would love to see what it looks like.
They kept the English title card for the French home video releases.
Here it is: https://mega.co.nz/#!yUcnjDRb!T4yamo18sIvro5gzrSvU4bgO5ImqXFcFxR3mqd9MoR4
Beside the typical laserdisc noise you can clearly see some film dust which makes me think it was actually printed on 35mm.
