They did a pretty good job with the footage(bootleg) they had, just need to slow down the leia Ben Resurrection scene and somehow rotoscope Ben into a tattooine background, remove the helmet and recolour his costume and you are good to go.
Rumour has it that the story integrates parts of the cancelled KOTOR 3 where Revan goes out to the unknown regions searching for the "True Sith ". Apparently in the film will be about jedi searching for “Sith God’s” in the unknown regions.
I think the wise thing for Disney to do would be to follow in DC’s by releasing an extended cut like BvS which by the way fixed the film for a lot of people.

Just checked again and you are right, it’s pretty confusing, George approved KOTOR being made even though it contradicts his head Canon.

It does seem to imply that the Republic lived that long but according to Canon and EU that is not the case.

IMHO I would say it would be better for the silhouette of her parents to merge into Palpatine and hold in front of her until the fog lifts to reveal Rey just standing there. So kind of a mix of the first and Second version.

I just updated the subtle version of the Snoke eyes (same link) to make it an even faster flash of red.
Its a bit too quick for me, I would prefer if the strong red lingered a bit before cutting straight to blue without the in-between transition .
Maybe it’s mentioned by Hux and Pryde in the deleted opening scene.

That line could be changed to leia sensing the birth of her son instead of his death.
I remember this site getting early info on the cue list for TFA so they are credible. Also this was recorded for a longer edit of the film on November 11 which means a lot of the deleted scenes are in a finished condition.
Although I like the alternate version with Snoke looking up, it might go a little too under the radar.
For the subtle version to work for me I think the eyes should change back to blue right after the strong Sith colour for a more sudden impact.
I disagree, a story is like looking at a finished picture puzzle, the specifics are the pieces that make the puzzle, if you have two puzzles with different pieces but end up with the same picture the difference becomes irrelevant.

Conversing with a memory of his father (in his mind) then throwing his lightsaber away is Not redemption, even if he felt guilty and regretful.
Redemption is earned through penance and sacrifice which I would argue he only achieved at the end my giving his life for Rey, ala Vader.
He was on the same page with Colin concerning Luke’s role in the film.
I would argue that the climax of TROS is carbon copy of ROTJ with a different paint job.
I mean, first of all that’s basically the only similarity, so I don’t know how you can reasonably say the whole thing is a remake, you know that’s not true. Second, yeah it’s pretty similar, but “carbon copy”? Come on. There are some significant variations.
Regardless, it’s a lazy critique. Just because it’s similar doesn’t make it bad. It all comes down to execution.
I concede that the first half of TROS was mostly its own thing but when the climax is the same as the previous supposed ending to the saga. I can’t see how it can’t be considered a soft remake if you remove all the austhetic fluff and focus on the plot.
Sounds like a movie we saw 30 years ago.
Bare in mind it was written in 2016 so it was probably a rough draft that could have been improved in further rewrites.
Alternatively you could try transitioning to the Sith eyes when he looks up from the light saber after it penetrates his body
