It’s an idea worth throwing around but you’re right, showing that version of the ST to a young impressionable girl would be quite problematic.
I think that in general their dialogue has to somehow foreshadow their betrayal at the end.
Something like this combined with Poppa’s falcon ending could work for a Ben lives edit.

I have been watching this thread and just finished my own full trilogy edit. I am sure this is not the place to post but this is the thread I have been reading so I thought it was right to share here.
One thing that I haven’t noticed anyone mention but seems ok with the amount of changes being discussed:
I moved the moment of Ben reviving Rey to BEFORE she beats Palps. I am sure everyone here can take this idea and make it better, if it works at all.Again, I have nothing but admiration for what everyone is contributing! I know when this is all done, the result of the group effort will be amazing.

If you’re to use visions during the helmet scene, I would go for visions of Luke, Han, Leia and Rey showing Ben compassion, it demonstrates that deep down all he wants is to be loved, setting up his convo with Han.
As for the Deathstar scene I think the establishing shots are fine, the shots are a little stuttery though but as you said it’s a rough mockup. I would however shy away from using anything from the Vader Fan-film as it brakes the flow and tone of the scene, I’d cut from the inner establishing shots to Ben standing on the edge right before the Han convo.
I really dig everything on Tatooine. The ending is gold.
You’re on the right track with the establishing shots, they just need a little smoothing out.
Personally I would refrain for using any visions or flashbacks, it kinda feels like a greatest hits sequence, but that’s just me.

Edit: Since Crait is now the opening of the film do you plan on including palpatines broadcast in there in some capacity? After the galaxie’s decline to help, hearing the broadcast could be what sets up the rallying of the people’s Fleet at the end of the film.
Yeah it’s a fascinating idea. It also goes back to how many Christian churches and cathedrals were built upon Pagan shrines and temples.

TLJ was already too long a film so moving the battle of crait into the opening might be just the right idea. It also allows the film to breathe and enjoy a fleshed out opening with dramatic action and character building. I wonder if some of the Cultists from Exogol could be added to the background in Snoke’s thrown room, Snoke’s allegiance to the Sith Eternal cult would need to be emphasised. Subtle things like playing around with the colour of his robes (purple, black, red) would really give him that “sith” aesthetic. Could even overlay subtle hints of Palpatine’s voice as he utters certain words like “a new Vader…”.
I’m really intrigued by how you’re approaching Kylo Ren in this. Is it meant to be implyed that he has become possessed by the spirit of Palpatine after striking down Snoke? It’s very reminiscent of the very early TROS leaks by MSW. I really like it.
I agree, I think his angle was “let’s stop pretending it’s not rebels v empire 2.0 and just say it how it is” which I disagree with.
TLJ was their chance at world building the state of the galaxy after ROTJ and unfortunately they did nothing with it .
Would have been sick to have Palpatine hiding in the sith shrine deep below the temple instead of Exogol, right under the noses of the New Republic and The First Order. Imagine the surprise of the destroyers emerging from deep below the surface of the industrial regions of the capital. A true power play.
