yeah i can agree tv,s frink there is a grey area here. but unless any mods have a problem with it i will continue as planned. doc m by post a short clip you mean from the souce dvd? how would i do that? with utube or is there a way i am missing? its not like you can see the interlace on the source it looks flawless. would it be better to post a log of the video specs? i tried mediainfo but as i understand mediainfo lies. so how would i go about getting a real video spec?

i own the usa versions of kill billl. however my japanese sources were borrowed and ripped to my hardrive i expected them both to come out to the same specs. but for some reason vol 2 was interlaced and set to 29.970. i am still a little lost on pulldown but from what i understand i need to make a d2v file first from vol 2 then an avs script then use dgpulldown to change it to progressive. is that right? but the problem is i cant get the d2v to load into gordian knot. i worked on this all day yesterday and got absolutely nowhere. today i am encoding these copy,s in ripbot. i have almost given up trying to do it the right way.

kill bill the whole bloody affair ibleedspeed edit (Released)

yeah you are right about having the words be smaller to fit under "bill" that does look better. but i still dont see that the font is any thicker. what i did was i created a huge text in photoshop 1920x1080 layer. in bold. then drug that over to my composition in after effects and free transformed it to shrink it down without ending up with jagged edges. is this the right way ash? or how should i do it? thanks for the help.

i did a rough edit in womble when i first started but i could not get it a descent picture quality. thanks for the avspmod suggestion moth3r. for some reason virtualdub would not make a usable d2v file for the interlaced source. when i tried to make the avs script gordian knot said not a valid d2v file. tried it over and over again. i am having a hard time with this. i really want good quality but all these software,s seem to be fighting against me rather helping.

wellll i dont know where to go from here so i am encoding it. this solves several problems for me. although of course we will see how the quality is before i edit. but what this does is gives me synced audio and i am able to hardcode the subs into the picture saving days of work. and it deinterlaces the 29.970 one. so i will be working with 2 progressive sources. i am using ripbot x264 with a high profile at over 4400 kbps. if this leads to noticeable quality loss i will raise the bitrate. beyond doing this i am stuck on trying to go about it by demuxing and repairing timecodes and making d2v and avs scripts. that method just is not working for me.

premier vs vegas?
Time

ok chewy i will give that a shot. i ended up trying to do it through tmpgenc and it would have all worked but after it was done converting to huffyuv. the picture shrunk. it ended up with black boarders on the sides. i tried it over and over checking avs script for reasons why it did it. but cant figure it out. i had 720X480 on both size settings. does anyone know what i missed? or how to make sure i end up with a 16x9 720x480 picture?

ChainsawAsh said: but the words shouldn't be nearly as thin and tall, and the font size should be small enough to fit under "Bill."

i agree the font is too thin but i dont think what your saying is possible. if i make the words fit under bill it shrinks the whole font. how could i make the font wider yet shrink the total size? does that not require making a custom font? i am sure that is what Q.T. did but i dont have a clue how to make a font. if i made the font as big as the "kill bill" it was still thinner then "kill bill". maybe i will work on the size but i dont think i can make it any thicker.

i just can not seem to get anywhere with my project. i have dvd copys i am working with.i have tons of apps i have tried using to get the title ready for encoding to lossless huffyuv. i have 2 sources for my project 1 progressive 23.976 and the other interlaced 29.970. so i need to get the second one down to progressive 23.976. i have tried everything in the adigitalman tutorial. i had success creating an avs script for the 23.976 file but every time i try the same steps with the other one gordian knot says "its not a valid d2v file".  if i demux all tracks video and audio are different lengths and i have tried demuxing so many different ways. i tried fixing gop errors in womble it does nothing. i cant even remember everything i have tried cause i have been working on it for a long time. i am starting to think i have to transcode these files before i can do anything at all with them. i really could use some advice from someone who has done this work before.

i have found out that avidemux will output to huffyuv. so i am testing that now. also i downloaded the huffyuv codec but do not know what to do with it. i am in doubt that avidemux is what i should use but its a start. i simply demuxed the video and 1 ac3 track using rejig. then fed the m2v to avidemux. am i on the right track or completely lost?

ok i have heard that before. but what program should i use to convert to lossless avi? i have about 350 gigs free on my laptop. and an external with about 650 gigs free. so i must use the external to import to. sadly it is usb 2.0 sorry for all the questions. but could you give me a breakdown of the steps you would use prior to editing. the two sources are untouched and both have time code errors. do i need to fix that via adm,s tutorial or can i go from the sources to the lossless avi? thanks chainsaw. and thanks again for ignoring my stupidity. lol your alright in my book ash.

i would like to start editing my project tonight. i was wondering if anybody has an opinion on which is a better video editing program? i just tried out premier and first impression was that premier would be a rough learning curve but on the positive it accepts vob and vegas does not. i rendered 1 clip in mainconcept and it was pretty quick. just hoping someone has used both and knows the ins and outs. thanks for reading and or posting.

thanks for the interest imperialfighter. hmm you have me wondering about the qthegaijin edit. most comments i have seen on it siad that the video quality was poor. in my copy it was badly interlaced. scan lines real bad and fuzzy. wonder if the copy i got was manipulated after the release by people who did not know how to do it.  the new font is the same font used in the original title i found it on chance its a windows standard font called "bookman old style" i kind of decided on it to keep it original. i continued with the bookman font in all the menu,s on my dvd. butt if you prefer the keetano kill bill font then maybe others do too. i would like opinions on that if your checking out this thread let me know what you think. keep in mind that my twba title fades in and out exactly with the kill bill above it.  impfighter i would like to use the demoe bill scene but for me it was a little too campy for the rest of the movie the only scene that seems this campy in the movie is when she is driving in the open of vol 2 and that scene is getting cut also. and the missing graphic of the sword scabbard killed it for me. i would not know how to add the graphic in after effects and it would be too much work to learn to do it. i would like to release this before Q.T releases the real thing.lol    the intermission was just a thought Q.T. spoke of adding kung fu sounds and various elements to make the intermission fun but i  am with impfighter on this it wont be done. let me know what you guys think about the 2 fonts. thanks impfighter for posting the comparison and all the input.

Dual Boot?
Time

dual booting is the best in my experience. but if you do go with a virtual machine...vmware player is good and will run any os you want. i used it for ubuntu.  when i needed it.    but dual booting with windows 7 is easy.. "easy bcd".... plenty of tutorials on google for that but thats what i use to dual boot. i had a tower setup running windows 7 for my daily user. then a custom xp. and a third install of windows 7 32 bit.  then slap ubuntu in vmware player. versatility has its place.

so i have 2 video sources for my project 1 is 23.976 and the other 29.970.

i am starting to learn about the pulldown method. tmpgenc is no longer free. so where do i start with this? what soft ware will i need to add 2:3 pulldown? both sources are to be edited together for dvd authoring. and what about the audio? if i do the 2:3 pulldown wont the audio be out of sync? confusing.thanks for help.
