ayyy tvs frink. thanks for the link bro. i guess that means we are starting over? well i have not followed the guide exactly. but i will now.i think i made the mistake of trying the gop fix tool the wrong way. i had renamed the vob,s to .mpg as i was working with them in vegas. so now i must go rename them .vob and try this method 1 more time. but that is only the start of my problems! i really bit off more then i can chew with this project. lol it,s ok if you say i told you so. i deserve it. anyhow i realized i have a problem in the fact that my first video source is 23.976 fps  and my second is 29.970  so now i am trying to figure out this 2:3 pulldown thing and not sure of which source i will have to change. my guess is i need to use pulldown on the 23.976 one. my brain hurts. thanks for the effort frink.

how can i fix timecode errors? womble did not seem to do anything to it when i used the gop repair tool. or do they have to be fixed at all? i am going for top notch video quality in my edit and i would like to avoid transcoding the video before editing. but with the timecode errors i just dont know how to achieve my goal. i am starting to understand why everyone hates ntsc. if anyone could help i would be thankful.

got the dvd fully authored today. a lot of work went into it. main menu went through vegas for animation. the dvd is loaded with extras and i learned how to manage the size quite well the entire dvd without the main title is down to 1 gb. so this leaves room for the main title to be about 6.9 gb. should be very good video quality.i have gotten very friendly with vegas,dvd architect,and after affects. all that is left to do now is edit the video and create soft subs. i think it may be easier to compose the soft subs then to manually add all the subs in vegas i will have to resync all the subs after the final video renders. again this will lead to the best video quality i can get. my final vol 2 uncut source will be here tomorrow and it is looking like the finished product will be done much earlier then i thought. i had no idea this project would turn out this well i expected a lot less of my first effort but this is going fantastic. not to toot my own horn but damn!

no really tv,s frink good burn though. couldnt of done it better myself im proud.......  i am putting the possible release of this edit somewhere around 2 weeks from now.  i am researching and working as it go,s along but i am now held back by waiting for a new source for volume 2. i have decided to use the japanese edition of both volumes for the entire edit so the plans for bluray sources were changed. after all the encoding down to dl size of the bluray,s the only thing that looked different from the dvd sources was the bluray film grain/snow.  so the dvd copy,s will actually look better. one thing i can promise is the final product will be higher quality then the previous releases. on another note i also picked up a copy of fist of the white lotus dvd. just in case i decide to use it. or maybe i could do something entirely different with it. if any killl bill fans have suggestions on anything i am listening. like creating the intermission that qt mentioned or whatever something to set it aside from the previous fanedit,s its all about having fun and making a truely awesome movie even better. laters guys.

can anyone suggest a windows editing program that is for sure better then vegas? i am as noob as can be and if there is a better alternative i would love to know so i dont waste money on vegas.

We are all here to share and enjoy edits, information, and experience so that others wanting to try and help or create can do so.  I am not trying to be mean here but as a moderator the above statement doesn't seem conducive to a positive atmosphere.  It's great that you got a promotion here DJ, I know you have experience in the editing department so I know it's a plus to the forum.

I don't know you so I'm not going to assume anything.  I know it isn't always easy not to take things personal.  Moving on would be the best option in this situation.  Responses can be taken the wrong way and written the wrong way....it happens and we all make mistakes.  If you feel you are in someway being hassled, calmly and tactfully report it so the admin can deal with it appropriately...probably the best way to handle it.

Just my opinion anyways...I'm not trying to be mean to either side.

ok rehash. the first attempt with womble as the video editor was scrapped due to the fact that dvd architect would not take the ac3 audio that went with it. truth is i could extract that audio convert it to wav and export it from vegas back to ac3 and be done with this edit because the womble edit was not nearly as bad as the other kill bill edits i have seen.but that would be to easy. nope being the media freak that i am i am starting over with the edit in vegas. because the easy way is not usually the best way.update pending.

you are correct tv,s frink that is what i did. the problem now is that even though i am using the uncompressed ac3 5.1 audio to create the 6 wav files after i add the video the sync is off. and it would appear the video length and the audio length are different.. not sure if that matters since i will be trimming the credits anyway. i hope we can come to a truce on our disagreement because i would like to share my efforts with the members of ot.

lol thanks guys! most fun i have had all day. but i think i must retire from continued scrutiny to actually work on my edit now. i posted it here because dark jedi locked the other thread. and its easier to see the two threads together and make the connection. it was an apology despite the clear attempt at showing my logic of what happened. good times!!! aloha cool guys.

since it seems my other thread has been locked i would like to formally post an apology for the thread entitled "project in danger of being scrapped" i am sorry to anyone who read the thread. it got out of control and was pointless. as for my attitude i think i have a great attitude. the original topic was not rude in any way i reread the whole thing word for word. and it started when someone i do not know called me a jerk. and stated i had a bad attitude. i just do not understand how said party came to that conclusion. i asked multiple questions in one topic so i did not have to spread them all over the place. they were normal noob questions. after receiving no responses i used an old tactic that usually brings some attention to a forum post. that is i whined a little bit. call it what you want but it has worked in the past. not the best decision but all the same it was no reason for anyone to start name calling and belittling my character. what followed was a clear cut case of noob bashing. it seems that ridiculing the less informed members of a tech forum is an all time favorite of the super smart people behind there keyboard,s who clearly have serious ego problems. all in all my words were twisted and manipulated to make me out to be the bad guy when in fact all i wanted was to learn. moral of the story is i learned my lesson. never ask a question without first considering the response it will incite.i don,t make a habit of trash talking in forums for any reason but that does not mean i am going to sit back and listen to someone i dont know trash talk me when they do not know me and do not know what contributions i can add to the forum. sorry again for anyone who wasted time reading the crapfest. and i retract all offensive statements posted in defense of myself. its,ok guys i will let it slide.
