Would it be worth making a dedicated sound effects thread where I could assemble an archive of the sounds I've gathered and other people could add to it?
I say go for it, man! Cause that's the sort of thing that may (and probably will) come in handy for every fan editor.

Could end up being a decent resource for extra Qui Gon dialogue in TPM.
Darn it! Brash beat me to it! XD
Yeah, this might come in handy in the future.
Those drawing looks awesome!
720p is fine with me.
Although, I'm down for whatever. XD

You ain't supposed to go through the film frame by frame and just try as hard as you can to find flaws, thats just oddly wrong. o.0
Don't wanna participate in this, but ... with this I agree completely.

ARSE...
*giggle*
Still funny :-)
So this is how we gonna call it? ARSE? XD
A New Hope
Revisited
Special
Edition
Well, then let me be the 1st who says - I can't wait for ARSE to come out! ARSE in HD... now that's something!
That looks great! So much better than the original!
Well then... the fan he's editing.... is owned by... by... George Lucas! Does that make sense? :D

How would you edit a fan?
Always with you it cannot be done...

I'm not sure why I did that. In fact, in hindsight, I think I should change it.
No. Don't do that. It actually sounds pretty awesome. Very cocky, but awesome. Besides, who said that "FanEditor" has anything to do with movie editing?
So then, pardon the weird question, why is your nickname UltimateSWFanEditor? That would be like if my nickname was I'veNeverFartedInMyLife.
Well, they were highly paid professionals and it was just a commercial... not a pop culture phenomenon. Although, I've seen you guys do things I never expected in a FanEdit, so who knows. It may end up even more than perfect.

Yes, Adywan said he was going to film new scenes with the Rebel Commandos. They get forgotten in the forest battle and is the easiest way to "decute" the Endor battle scenes without CGI use.
The nice thing is that it will probably Ming and his crew. Who I believe are in California. Thus, they can actually go back to "Endor" the Redwood forest of Nortern California and film in the same spots.
A guy up in Seattle owns parts of the original Endor Bunker that was used. They are made of plywood and would be easy to replicate... or have him transport down to use again.
Thus, Ady and the crew, (I would volunteer to go down and help if they let me) could make some very convincing and realistic battle scenes with stormies/Imps and Rebel Commandos duking it out.

Sounds awesome... on paper.
Making those new shots/scenes fit into an old movie and also maintain the Star Wars atmosphere will be quite a challenge.

slight mistake. It should be "2016" not "2012". I'm watching the 2012 blu-ray at the moment. oops.
Now that it's official, I'm gonna say it...
HELL YEAH!!! This is awesome! XD I had a blast watching ANH:R. An HD version would be mind blowing.
One question tough - it's basically a yes/no question - will it be different than the DVD version? Do you plan on removing/adding some stuff that you didn't the 1st time around?
I understand it's far away from now, but still - will it be different?
**720p HD version coming 2012**
Is this for real?
I mean, yes, it would be awesome to see this edit in HD, but - and I'm saying this with nothing but respect - haven't you done enough already? You work so hard, man. Perhaps even too hard. And there's still ROTJ (and maybe even PT) to make... I don't know. Seems a bit too much.
But you must do what you feel is right, of course. :) Either way - good luck with everything!
For ANH we have The ANH:SE Redux thread -
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-ANH-SE-Redux-Ideas-thread-Radical-Ideas-Welcome/topic/10131/
And for ESB and ROTJ we have ESB and ROTJ Wishlist (which works as a basis for 005's ROTJ Wishlist on WordPress.Com) -
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/ESB-and-ROTJ-Wishlist/topic/8826/
So there's really no need to make another one. You can easily express your opinions and ideas on the threads I just mentioned. :)

If it's cut out, the movie is too obviously a first chapter; and it's too dark an ending for what is otherwise the lightest movie in the series.
I don't see how any on these are bad things. Why wouldn't the 1st chapter feel like the 1st chapter? What's wrong with that?
And who said that it's supposed to be the lightest movie in the series? Yes, I know what RLM said about the 2nd chapter, but - 1st of all, it's not an unbreakable rule. And 2nd of all - who said that Part 2 can't be edited to be even more darker?
Besides, if you look at the material we have - Part 3 will be the darkest. It's just unavoidable.

Agreed!
... wait! What?!
What exactly is this project about and are there any samples of cuts/edits/effects?

One thing that Plinkett brought up that I was a little disappointed we didn't get to see in ROTS was the effects of the war on Coruscant....
That's one of many reason why the "Clone Wars" (2D) cartoon kicked ass.
Man... I love that cartoon so much. It tried to be amazing - despite the fact it was prequel related - and it succeeded on so many levels. Clone Troopers weren't pussies - we saw them kick ass and use all sorts of cool-looking weapons. Anakin and Obi Wan were both tough and even had comrade moments that showed us how friendly and loyal they were towards each other. General Grievous was stoic and darn intimidating - not like the coughing hunchback we got in ROTS. Droids weren't annoying (surprisingly!) and they even tried to flesh out some of the prequel background characters.
Those guys got it right. And they should make another one.
I was watching "Clone Wars" bonus features on DVD and, man, I can't even describe how much I respect those guys. They truly were Star Wars fans. I especially liked how they said they sat down and rewatched OT to try and bring their childhood memories back - what they thought happened before ANH when they were kids. How they said - if you wanna make it good you have to go back to OT.
I know this pretty much off topic, but I just think that "Clone Wars" is what the PT should have been like - awesome.
http://www.starwars.com/video/view/001175.html
So I just saw the BluRay announcement trailer and - while I don't know if they used the BluRay footage for this - it looks like they haven't changed anything. Just SE in HD. Nothing more.
One thing though - how about slowing it down a little bit? Not much, but just a tad slower. I'm not saying that these fight scenes should mach the OT (speed wise), but sometimes they tend to go too fast.

Dusted off my old hard drive tonight. This was a old edit clip that I did Right before starting on Episode
3. It's not perfect story and cut wise. But helps to make Obi look alittle more reckless, and cut alot of
flipping and jumping around during the saber fight. Enjoy.
More Episode 3 clips will be coming soon 8)
Duuuuuude! So unexpected! I don't know how I never thought of this before... This is truly awesome! It's, like.... damn, it's awesome! XD
It makes the whole scene just perfect! He's pissed off, the gates open, they go bam, bam, bam... and then slash! - he has taken his revenge!
This way it doesn't slow down - the scene flows perfectly!
