I thought it would lend more credibility to the scene if we actually saw or at least heard why it wasn't friendly. I mean if someone introduced you to someone on the phone and then said I dont think he's very nice but gave no reason for not being nice wouldnt you be curious as to why that person isnt nice?

Watch that scene again and think how cool it would be to at least hear laser blasts, yells, static, then "it isnt friendly whatever it is".

I think it's perfectly logical as is. They're hiding from the Empire, and their lives may well depend on staying hidden, therefore any signs of technology or life on Hoth must be assumed a threat and treated as such until proven otherwise.

It's more like if your ex-girlfriend is chasing you with an axe, and you run to a friend's house to hide out for a while. Suddenly your friend comes into the room saying "hey, some chick called asking for you" and he hands you the phone. Your first reaction would likely be to think she's not friendly, whoever she is. (hopefully that makes sense and I'm not just crazy)

  Lol...GF with an axe?

The whole point I'm making is that it was planned to be in that scene and for whatever reason (not enough money, no footage shot or Lucas brain farting) it wasnt put in, but there is more than one reference to that sequence.  And as it stands now (at least to me) it seems as if something is missing. Maybe because I know of the missing scene but it still would be a nice little addition.

Guess I'm just not a logical kind a guy.

Hey guys I'm new here this is my first post and I know I'm gonna get destroyed for asking this because I'm just a casual fan but I have a couple of questons:

Adywan, I'm a big fan of what you are doing and I would like to thank you.  I have A New Hope: Revisited, and I will definately get The Empire Strikes Back: Revisited.

But I want to ask: why you are changing Boba Fett's voice from the SE?  Because all of your changes have to do with consistancy, and this changes just cancels out the consistancy established by the PT.

Also, on a side note, I wish (I know I'm probably the only one on here that does) that you would keep Vader's shuttle going back with the Executor.  I agree with you about changing his line to "bring my shuttle," but when the SE shows Vader's shuttle, it just looks cool, those are my favorite Star Wars aircraft.  Plus the music from the scene fits perfectly with that shot.  I just want to know why you are scrapping that, I'm sure there's a good reason.

OK thats all for now I'm looking foward to many debates and heated arguments on here.  :)

You have no idea - Heated debates....and for the love of all thats with the Force read all 705 pages of this forum before you comment cause otherwise you get ripped ;-)

Any news on the missing scene on Hoth, ya know the echo station 38 being blown to bits by the Imp. Probe?  And before anyone say's it...its not EU, it's in the official comic adaption and the draft. Shouldn't be too hard to intertwine into that scene (well not hard for Adywan) otherwise Han saying "It isnt too friendly..." makes no sense as there is nothing to base that assumption on just by hearing the electronic broadcasts from the probot.

A little green screen, some snow, a model or two, some visual effects and ta da!! A scene!  Yeah I make it sound easy, and yes I know it's much more involved than that but how cool would that scene be?

Comics and drafts that not following or expanding the currect state of movie(s) is EU. what they showed to us as final product it is the final reference.

If its (sounds) so simple why not showing us what you mean? ;)

-Angel

yeah if I had that kind of talent I'd do it myself. ;-)

There are smaller adjustments, add-on's etc. etc. that have been suggested and I thought it would lend more credibility to the scene if we actually saw or at least heard why it wasn't friendly. I mean if someone introduced you to someone on the phone and then said I dont think he's very nice but gave no reason for not being nice wouldnt you be curious as to why that person isnt nice?

Its more of an enhancement of the scene not a complete redo, its kind of what Adywan did for the tie introduction on the battle of the death star. He could have left that alone but he wanted to bring it to his vision of what it could have been. I think Lucas had a brain fart and just forgot or didn't have the time to edit that in.

I didnt realize that drafts and original official comics of the movie (old school) were considered EU but thanks for the heads up. I just thought it was interesting to see that scene and imagined how cool that would be to see.

Anywho...again thanks for the heads up

Sorry off subject but I had to ask: I was recently at Disney in Cali and I was asking about the new Star Tours ride being done, one of the older employee's there said that he wasn't going to see it when its done if Jar Jar is still going to be the Tour Guide. Please tell me I was having delusions of grandour and this worker was just using a jedi mind trick on me or something. He worked at the shop that you enter after the ride ends. He seemed serious and disapointed about it. Has anyone heard this also?

Ah see there's where I had a problem, see after a few friends of mine complained about the 2004 version I made a point not to purchse this version and watched my OT tapes to stay true to the movies (although I did attempt to watch the 2004 version to my disappointment) I guess after watching my tapes old school style the 2006 version looked great.

After seeing your comparison shots it does indeed seem less likely to be used for the edit.

I just want to thank everyone for being patient with my comments, I know it can be frustrating to restate things that have obviously been seriously thought out and considered.

I have much to learn...

Ady is using the 2004 DVD version (correct me if Im wrong please) to start on the ESB:R (which we all know had that horrible bluish coloring) but is any of the material used from the unaltered 2006 DVD version? If not is this something that is being considerd for the ROTJ:R edit? Using the unaltered version would save Ady so much time in the color correction phase of the edit as this is the version that had the least amount of changes done to it from the OT theatrical cut as well as no special edition changes.

I really hope they post the OT Boba Fett voice cause I really dislike the way he say's "He's worth alot to me" now, Its almost said as if he was rushed to get it recorded with no emotion in it compaired to the OT version.

It sounds almost as if he is whinning, The emphasis in the Ot version is on what he is worth verses who he is worth to in the newer version.

-just saying.

By the way I'm a newbie here (probably shouldn't have said that) but been following the thread with vigor, and to Adywan....what can i say that hasn't already been said...
