STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Update: Hopes for added content for ESB:R?

Lucasfilm has officially announced the Blu-ray release of the entire "Star Wars" film series in September. Three distinct sets are being made to meet the needs of every fan:

Star Wars: The Complete Saga (9-Discs w/ all six films)
Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy (3-Discs w/ Episodes I-III)
Star Wars: Original Trilogy (3-Discs w/ Episodes IV-VI)

All of them will be issued with the highest quality possible picture and audio presentation. The 'Complete Saga' set includes three additional discs with more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Sounds like there may be some good stuff maybe to add to the ESB:R, lets just hope it isnt tinted blue, green or whatever else Lucas has in his mind while dreaming of Jar Jar.

Holy hell......how are some of you even catching stuff like this? Is it really enjoyable to watch a movie under a magnifying glass like that?

I agree with you on this one, I for one will not be watching this frame by frame, I know there are people who want things 100% perfect but sometimes when fixing an error, editing a scene or just plain doing some new FX there are compromises in that process.

If we nit pick "every" miniscule fix this will never get done. You know how many errors there are just in Chewies hair placement between cuts alone? Me neither but some are noticeable but I dont expect them to be fixed. ;-)

Before anyone says it, cause I know they will, "If it wasnt for us some of the things that were wrong wouldnt be fixed and its people like us who nit pick that help Ady find things that need to be fixed that he may not have noticed"...I agree to a point.

Dont get my comment twisted, all Im saying is sometings are better left alone.

But other than that Merry Christmas Eve or Day depending on where you are.

What concerns me more than the body movement with Yoda, which I noticed but didnt really care about, is the scaling of the floating X-Wing as it advances towards Luke. It just seems that the scaling is off.

Compare the size of the front landing gear as it advances towards Luke (using Luke as a size guide) and then as it actually lands in the close up shot next to Luke.

Seems as if the X-Wing is smaller as it advances and then is its normal size as it lands, again using Luke as a guide.

Either that or Ive just had to much eggnog tonite.

as far as the ground issue with the dipping, I noticed that one leaf waaaay in the back blew to the left when we all know the wind was blowing to the right, just saying. ;-P

I'm glad this was just a goof on us, but regardless, it sure is purdy.

Well the pic was inspired by and old ESB publicity shot

Awwww man.....I loved that Nebula shot, it was a great homage to both the publicity shot (which I thought of instantly when I saw your "fake" capture) and the theatrical release.

So just for my own sanity...are they in a galaxy looking at a galaxy (within a galaxy) or are they outside of a galaxy looking at a galaxy? Im so confused.

This has turned into such a huge debate cause I to would think that if they were outside of a galaxy looking at a galaxy that the light from it would drown out any light from the other stars (Right or wrong? Im not a science major by any means) which is why the nebula idea gave me such a relief. And yes I know Star Wars doesnt have to go by reality but it is interesting nonetheless.

Thanks for giving me hope and then scattering them to the winds :-)

Ady your jokes are funny but sooooo mean, ;-)

This will stop the argument about whether it's a galaxy or a forming star....

Ady...you sly devil you, that looks amazing. I seriously hope you are using that as a final and not just messing with me cause that is master work there my friend. GL is going to trip out that he didnt do this first.

Its funny how, while waiting for the ESB:R edit to be released, that we have picked this movie apart in ways that even the most hard core fans would be like..."what?"..and still you surprise us.

You definately have an eye for what not only looks great but is most relevant to a scene, thanks again for all your hard work and dedication. From a major fan of the OT Star Wars since the age of 5yrs, I thank you.

A more noticable continuty error that does bug me is right before Han says" That'll do nicely" 3PO's hands are entangled on Chewie's shoulder hair and then when the camera switches to show the front of chewie 3PO's hands are no where near his shoulders and Chewie's hair is smooth where a frame before it was a mess with 3PO's hands.

Any word on fixing this?

Ady...is the timing of when Chewbacca goes up the ramp during their escape from Hoth going to be altered to fix the continuity error of him going up the ramp twice? You can see he goes up the ramp and is seen no more until they show a close up of Han going up the ramp and then Chewie starts about 3/4 of the way up the ramp to enter the Falcon again.

Not a big thing until after my 10 year old asked me about it, I think he's watched it too many times now. now it sticks out everytime I watch it.

Does anyone have a high-res picture of the matte painting used in this shot?

I have scanned this from The Star Wars Chronicles:

This is a photobucket resize, the original file is about 40Mb, you can actualy see the weft of the print. I can send it to you via "YouSendIt"…

You Sir are awsome!!

That is absolutely a beautiful piece of work there. I tip my and and tap my cane to you.

He probably doesn't even really have them anyways. I could easily say i have the hand prop of Luke's hand but that dont mean I have it.

To have such a piece and not do anything with it but sit and collect dust is goes against what Star Wars is.

Maybe he can't post it or give it away, but then again who says he was the one who let anyone use it? Things get out all the time.

I'm sure with all the resources at Ady's disposal and the amount of fan's willing to do whatever it takes to help Ady find this missing piece, with or without that person's help.

Hope he has a change of heart and let's Ady use it, (if he has it).

and to quote Vaderios...end of story ;-)

I agree 100% with not changing it either just wondered if he was doing anything with it. I always loved the Bossk moment, maybe Ady will add some facial expressions similar to the Cantina scene in ANH:R, just to give it that extra "Oh Really?" moment.

Any specific examples of the Tweeker shaking? I'm sure you're speaking of STAR TREK, but I can't really think of anything that was annoyingly obvious... as compared to the camera shaking when Sean Connery was sitting in the humvee (sitting in the garage) during the "chase scene" in THE ROCK. That scene always has me cracking up.

BTW, any updates on the Falcon's flight path from the frigate at the end (flying away from us towards the star/galaxy, as opposed to wonkily off to the left)?

Not gonna post and clips as this is already off topic lol but the Tweeker Shaking examples I can think of are the one's where there is no action going on but the camera still shakes, zooms in/out for no reason other than just to have movement that has nothing to do with the action going on. Also there always seems to be something in one of the lower corners that is always out of focus that is there without reason.

I'm sure any shake that Ady adds will be within the context of the story/action going on and we dont have to worry about the Tweeker Shake.

There is a place for the shake but when its overused like J.J's (not all scene's but some) and some other copycat riding directors, it just come's off as annoying, deliberate, forced and unnatural.

Ady are you doing anything to the scene where Bossk is standing futher back from the edge of the SD crew pit and then he appears closer with his toes hanging over the edge?

Has it been considered adding slight shaking to the scenes aboard the Falcon at the end? During the asteroid chase, everyone in the Falcon is swaying left and right, but after the escape from Bespin during the dogfight with the TIEs, everyone in the cockpit and also 3P0 and R2 are still as if the ship is docked somewhere.

As long as it's not the J.J.Abrams (SP) kind of shaking. That fake overused shaking (what I like to call the Tweeker Shake) is horrible.

Wondering what kind of changes are going into that scene?

Maybe show more galaxies in the Star Wars universe maybe? Would broaden the scope of how far the empire reaches?

I kinda like the idea....after all I'm sure the Empire has it's dirty hand's all over the Star Wars universe but then again I may be delving into the EU and that's not where I want to be.

Anyhow it might be something for Ady to consider.....

Speaking about the galaxy at the end of ESB, I read somewhere that according to Leland Chee (I think it's him), what we see is actually the whole Star Wars galaxy, meaning the rebel fleet is massed outside it somehow.

What doesn't make sense with that is that we get to see a whole lot of stars in the background, yet since we're suppose to be outside of a galaxy, shouldn't there be only black void to be seen?

Yeah that would make total sense, never thought of that before...good catch.

Wow after watching that movie hundreds of times in every manner possible in every version it still amazes me the things that are still being found...awsome.

I didn't find it crappy at all. It doesn't compare to the movies of course, but it was far better than CW 3D in terms of storytelling, and at least it did respect the movies and the EU.

The Genndy cartoon had no storytelling, and it didn't respect the EU all the time (thankfully). As for respecting the movies, both cartoons did. And who cares for the EU?

Adywan, keep doing this great work with the OT.

and who cares for the EU? Are trying to get the All knowing EU master started up again? We all saw how that went last time.;-)

To RL (its a joke) I respect your knowledge on the EU so no worries.

It might not get visibly hit but you can hear Vader shooting away in the background.

Red Leader doesn't necessarily mean that his engine is blown at that point rather that it's no longer functional.

Vader could hit it again causing it to visibly explode (possibly hitting that tank of wonder-fuel we see getting filled before they take off).

I was a bit more disappointed that the shot of Red Leader hitting the surface stayed.

I never liked the Death Star surface in that shot. My feelings towards it are probably intensified by having it rubbed in my face at an early age thanks to the pan and scan versions shown on television.

It always looked a bit like a piece of hardboard with upturned plastic tubs glued to it (which I would forgive on Blake's 7 but seemed out of place in a film like Star Wars).

Yeah that could be but I would have liked to see it confirmed on film for the perfectionist in me. One of those gotta see it to believe it kinda things...that's kind of an oxymoron asking to believe something that isnt even real..;-)

"p" stands for progressive and "i" stands for interlaced. 1080i is only used for broadcast television, as far as I know. If Ady is using a Blu-Ray source, than it will be 1080p. Hope that helps. :)

Yeah that was helpfull thanks so much...I'm just starting in my video editing adventure so I have a lot to learn. Im using vegas pro 9, adobe after effects CS3, FX home and Magix movie edit pro 15...now its time to figure all this stuff out....(takes a really deep breath). I really hope the investment pays off...:-)

I think they had to use a different take because the original was cut before Biggs appeared

Good call...at first I thought you had done some of your movie magic and I was trying to figure out the reason behind that change then I realized it must have been a different take.

One last question that keeps popping into my head when I watch any version of Star Wars:

During the DS trench run Red Leader is being chased by Darth Vader above the DS surface as Vader fire's and there appears to be no contact to that engine or to RL's X-wing but RL states "I just lost my starboard engine" (rightside) but the starboard engine doesnt get hit until almost 7 seconds later.

I'm not trying to sound like I'm disecting your version cause I consider your version to be the one to watch just wondering if that was something left as it was intentionally.

Anyhow...Glad to hear ROTJ will be in 1080p or is it 1080i? Waiting on pins and needles...ouch.

Okay so now I'm in the right spot for this:

As I was saying earlier I found what apperas to be a different take on the same scene set in the Rebel Hanger on Yavin right after Luke turns away from Leia...leading up to Biggs reunion.

The comparison pictures are taken as Luke looks away for the first time and his head turns towards the floor. They are both taken when Luke's nose is verticle to the floor for the first time.

I hope this link works if not I'll try again. God I hate being a noob.

There are a lot of misplacements and take note of the angle of the stripes on Luke's helmet.

I dont know what significance this has on anything just something I noticed while watching both versions while doing a splitscreen video of the two.

anyways here's the link.....
