It was me. Let me see what I can do. I've got a massive usenet queue right now and will need my bandwidth for some other stuff for the next week or so. I'll let you know. Shouldn't be a problem if they've been posted.

Thanks. I would of course offer any of the discs that I have in trade. No rush, I suppose if they've only just been posted they should stay around for a little while.

Good luck to you, I'm still waiting on it to show up on TPB.org. I keep trying to burn off the Zone disc but I can't figure it out. Nero and DVDShrink produce the same results yet the hard drive copy will play in WinDVD just fine. hrm...

Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released)

Did anyone else's news server show massive drops in parts from 109 to 118? I know my ISP is lousy (I average 134 of 143 sections each file from MoveAlong. Typically even worse drops thanks to my ISP if I'm trying to go after a segaflip posting) but it seems odd that this one section would only carry between 2 and 8 sections total each rar file.

Interesting. But I'm not sure I'd even have a Zone disc to trade. So far the first two DVD burns crap out & lock up a few mins into the DVD for no reason (other DVDs burned before & after work fine). Trying a different program now but the verification has already locked up. I'm afraid the repack BT may have some bad mojo. And this really sucks after how many days it took to complete and seed afterwards. -_-

guiltyspark, did you do that cover? Nice. Would I be able to get a copy of it? I am slightly annoyed though at the repack of Zone as I just got the first version from someone who got the DVDs off the newsgroups for me :/

At least you got the DVD. ;-) They're still trying to complete it on the BT repack. I'm stuck at 98.9% which means I finally got past the 85.2% hurdle of several days ago.

Yes, I did the cover. Slowly I get time to work on it. I got a chance to fix up the logos but still need some time to finish off the cover. I'll let you know. Did the Zone DVD come with a scanned cover? I don't think the repack does.

I agree, just a few mins into it and I'm already in love with how this version looks compared to the official DVD and the fanworks floating around.

I've read (in Animeland magazine, Ghibli special issue) that the US soundtrack of Nausicaa has been totally remade, cause it was too much different of other US production. And more than that, Nausicaa has been re-edited (I don't remember if it was the US version) and many scenes have been deleted...
I'll try to find the article about that (it's in french, but...).

They're probably talking about Warriors of the Wind, the 1985 New World Pictures release I mentioned. The US Disney release is uncut.

They are referring to the Warriors of the Wind version. As much as I hate editing anime, I still try to track down these oddities to backup onto DVD if its not been done by an actual studio. Still haven't found this one, though.

The Wally Burr dub may have gone under "cuts" thanks to the BBFC when it was originally submitted years ago and probably not re-submitted when Manga UK handed over the new Animaze dub for rating approval. The BBFC have relaxed their heavy editing of anime in the past 2 years. So it is quite possible this is one thing which was giving you the difference in times.

The Production Report contains the US dub, not the original Japanese track subtitled. So, same as that old US tape.

OK cool, thanks for the links. So does anyone here OWN this? How did they handle the different cuts seemlessly with the shorter original English dub? Was there a different Australian dub originally? Enquiring minds want to know!

I have the DVD and it does include the new Animaze dub for Pioneer and the original Wally Burr Recording dub for Streamline Pictures. I don't remember there being an difference between viewing it either way but as its been awhile since I watched the disc. You can typically get the best price through FBO. http://www.fbo.com.au/movie.asp?ID=5630

I'm hoping that Madman will go back and give the Dirty Pair movie & two OVAs Streamline had originally released the same benefit when they go to DVD. ADV wanted new dubs so they used the excuse that the original Streamline titles wouldn't sync up. Some fans later proved that this wasn't the case. There is also a full screen version to the Dirty Pair film which, like The Shining, is the open matte originally intended to be seen pre-DVD release in Japan.

So I began to attempt Project Akira: The Easy Version and it proves to be much more challenging than I had assumed. I took the two different UK DVDs, the original English dub full screen disc and the newly remastered widescreen re-dub. The thought was to sync the old audio with the new video.

Though I had read a difference in running times (by about 4 minutes) my internet research yielded little info on if anything had actually been changed.

Well, it has. Actually the 'original' English release had shortened and lengthened scenes scattered throughout the film. The new master apparently restored all the cut stuff but of course it would be very time consuming to go through each scene, find out what had been changed and make up audio for the gaps. Not something I look forward to.

Curious: Why don't you just buy the Madman Australian release which comes with the original dub and the new dub on the same disc in widescreen?

ADM, Ep3 Special Edition is great, and what you did with Yoda and Qui Gonn was just F*cking great, GREAT JOB!!!

Is the DL ADM Edit for 3 the only version which will get posted to the newsgroups or might the DL extended version be posted at some point in the future, too? Trying to decide on whether to wait or eventually join the trading tree of dvds.

My girlfriend & I sat down to watch the Hannibal edit last week after re-watching Red Dragon & Silence of the Lambs. We both liked most of the film with various subplots & notes added back into the film. I'm debating to maybe take a whack at editing Hannibal myself at some point to see if I couldn't play with this idea more (like adding in the original audio from Silence instead of the re-recorded conversations between Hannibal & Starling) and an ending the two of us could be happy with.

Do most of these ADM edited films have a DL version floating around like the SW ones?
