greencapt, I totally agree that the nickname Annie is terrible. I always cringe when i hear that. Especially in Episode II and III after he's older. Its like, 'and you wonder why he turned to the dark side...you constantly refered to him by a girls name, what did you expect'.

And even more sad is the fact that, in the scripts, Lucas writes it as 'Annie' and not as 'Ani'!! WTF????

Then again... he WAS basically a little orphan...

I'll agree in *part*, Hardcore. As far back as I can remember (being 34 now) Lucas had in mind that the droids be the glue that held the trilogies together. Part of that inspiration, I believe, comes from the film 'The Hidden Fortress' which is told from the point of view of the two bumbling peasants/losers who ARE Artoo and Threepio. Actually SW is *incredibly* derivitive of 'Hidden Fortress' but in a good way- go watch the two back-to-back and see what what I mean.

That said, the WAY that GL went about including the droids is mostly, IMHO, crap. Not even getting into Artoo's 'enhanced' abilities either. I can see no reason at all that Threepio should have been built by Anakin nor why Artoo should have been the property of Anakin. The droids could and should have been included, but more in the background and not as part of the main action.

Just my 2 cents.

As for transposing that into the entire film, not only would it be next to impossible, I have my doubts about how it would look in live action, and it might be rather ridiuclous looking.

Thanks again! The sad part is that with access to the CGI model of GG, a new texture map could be easily re-rendered with both Maul's markings and eyes. But for that matter, one could re-animate his whole sequences to make them more bad-ass. Sigh. If only GL would have thought of that.

I love Bob & Doug's album though. My older sister had it and we used to listen to it and laugh our asses off at it. Especially the Darth Vader part.

"Darth Vader, you're evil!!! I'm going to zap you with my laser gun!!!!"

mock Vader breathing - "Take off hosehead!"

And the part with Geddy Lee from Rush is just golden..........."ten bucks is ten bucks...."

Damn, I can go on and on....

Did you know they've been trying to get a sequel off the ground for some time? Looked like it was a go a couple years back- fellow Canadian Todd McFarlane (jerkwad of Spawn and toy-making fame) was going to fund it for them but backed out at the last minute.

The script by Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis is called 'Home Brew' and focuses on the MacKenzie's attempt to make their own brand of beer, eh!

A highschool friend and I used to do a pretty darn good MacKenzie impression- good enough that a local radio station let us do on-air bits and occasional weather reports.

To stray ever so slightly from the topic, I almost ordered a particular piece of merchandise from MaterReplicas before they decided to NOT release it.

They had a letter jacket that was battery-powered. The back had a picture of Vader's TIE going after an X-Wing with the Death Star in the background.
Why was it powered?

Because the back image had fiber optics running through it. The stars would twinkle, Vader's weapons would attack and the X-Wing would catch fire. (Assuming I'm remembering everything correctly).

It was something like $400, but I was more than willing to pay it. It was suppose to be out in June of either 03 or 04, but they cancelled it before it ever went on sale.

Perhaps they realized that when the first good rain came along.... BBBRRZZZTZTZZZZTTTTTTT!!!!!! Real Force Lightning!!!!

And you know... on the Leia thing... why the heck did Bail Organa and his wife even TELL Leia that she was adopted???

"We love you kiddo... but you're adopted- don't worry about who your REAL mother was though. You know- the woman who you remember but don't really remember but maybe just remember from some dreams or something. Yeah, she wasn't important really. Yeah I know this means you're not a real princess. Hell in this galaxy you can be frickin' queen one day, senator the next and totally worthless soon after that- all before you're 20!

Now look... we need you to hop on this blockade runner, get some plans we stole and thake them somewhere. But watch out for this big dude wearing a black suit and flying around in a block of cheese. He's bad news! And for God's sake don't let him get close enough to you to test your blood or run a DNA test or torture you or something because he might realize that you're really his daugh.... *cough, cough*... er... anyway. Your adopted mom and I will leave dinner on for you. Bye!!!

Look dear... did we always have that small second moon in orbit here around Alderaan? Prrreeeetttyyyy..."

Nice work GreenCapt.

Thanks!

Yeah, it would take a helluva lot of Photoshopping to do throughout the entire film. Would be very, very interesting to see though.

Bleh, I guess you'd have to see it.

It was GREAT! And as far as I know, Kevin Smith did NOT write the series- just produce.

Heck, as long as it was well written, directed and acted Luke could have fallen to the Dark Side for all I care. Plus, I dig downer endings... and the bad guys are usually SO much cooler.

I prefer it without. I'm a big champion of 'personal responsibility'. I like to think we're defined by the choices we make and aren't victims of a 'plan'.

Wow. Knowing much of Kevin Smith's own history and excessive level of geekdomness....

I just don't know what to say to that right off. A meaner me would probably think 'what a f**king prick he had become- is this what happens when he finds out the general public doesn't give a rat's ass about him making movies and he realizes his only chance of success is running comic book stores and repeatedly re-making Jay and Silent Bob films with multiple SW references..?'

But at least I'm not the mean me.

But it cost him an arm and a leg (or two) to do so!

Good point. I might also add the the television ads for AOTC labelled Anakin as the Chosen One as well. I'd have to reread the novel, as I don't recall anything from it about Anakin knowing or not. Could you find the page number?

Maybe Anakin didn't see the televsion ads...

Comic book stores would be great place to start looking. Find the biggest on in your area, give them a call and tell them what you want- from my experience they'll know who has costumes, sabers, etc. Good Luck!
