Try just double-clicking one of the par2 sets and not just the base .par2... it may be the wrong...

EDIT:

I just re-ran the PAR set on my computer and they all came up working and correct set. I've found that sometimes QuikPar is still looking for the old ones even though a new set has been created.

I feel like an ass that this has been botched for you... sorry man.

Hmm... parts 5 and 12 have been re-upped, but that only gives me 2 blocks if I download 100MB, since I already have 207 out of 208 parts for each of those. What I really need are PAR2 files. The ones you posted are unusable for some reason. Post 4MB of those puppies (the first three you've made would do, giving me 14 parts, I think), and I'm done.

Thanks for following up!

New Pars are coming- sorry!!!

Yes but for its birthday will the rerelease of the site but the Archival Edition, the enhanced Original Version or just a temporary release with a new 'coat of paint' until he can tweak it further? Maybe we should all save a copy of the O-OT.Com?

That is a good idea Ell. I wonder if our grand and illustrious leader Jay would be able to incorporate that into a seperate area of the new OT.Com when it gets done. Maybe 'FEditPedia.com' or something. I dunno... I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning.

Actually someone in an old thread had talked about starting a site like that... don't know where right off though...

Can someone please explain WHY the audio on the 2004 ANH DVD is so messed up?
Time
The cool thing is, adam, that Lucas could easily pay any number of talented individuals who actually DO care about the OT to do this job for him, as was the case with WoO or the original King Kong. I kinda suspect that Merian Cooper or Victor Fleming either had little to do with the restoration jobs on their classic films (unless it was in some, say, zombified way.) At this point in time Lucas himself I fear could not be trusted to manage this project. This is why authors (and film directors for that matter) have editors- at some point one has to be able to step back and let someone a little less creatively involved but nonetheless talented lend a helping hand. Hell, if GL just turned over a set of OT original copies to an organization like Criterion we could all sleep a little better.

Well, *most* of us.

From TheDigitalBits.Com:

(LATE UPDATE - 9/20/04 - 10:30 PM PDT)

Well... Lucasfilm has responded to our questions about the audio issue on the DVD of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope with a blanket statement of denial. Here's the exact text:

"We are always impressed with how closely fans listen to the many different sound mixes we have made for the Star Wars movies over the years. It is flattering to know that, indeed, the audience is listening. Consequently, each mix comes out differently and any changes that you hear on the all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX tracks on the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set are deliberate creative decisions. We can confirm that there are no technical glitches as reported."

Now here's my response. I don't buy it. The audio quality of that Tarkin line can't be anything other than a technical issue, probably a problem with the original audio element of the dialogue, and Lucasfilm doesn't want to cop to that on the eve of the big release. When you guys hear it tomorrow, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Tarkin's "Then name the system!" line sounds terrible. As far as dialing down the trumpet fanfare during the Death Star attack (in fact, much of Williams' music during the first part of the attack has been reduced in volume in the mix)... I can see that could be a creative decision. It's a decision I absolutely HATE, but okay, maybe that's a creative decision. You guys will have to see what you think when you get the discs. We'd like you die hard audiophiles out there to give them a listen yourselves and let us know your opinion.

We'll keep looking into this, so stay tuned...

No it won't. It would be like a 20 year high school reunion where you find out that your good friends whom you haven't seen since you graduated have all had their lives go down the toilet. Mary is 300 pounds over weight, Sarah is working as a short order cook at a dirty truck stop. Melissa has been divorced 3 times. Josh is addicted to meth, Jason lost his leg in a drag race, and your old math buddy Nicole is on welfare with her 5 fatherless children (all with different fathers.)

HOLY CRAP, JENNY!!!! You were at my high school reunion too!!!!!!!! I shoulda said 'Hi'!!!

In fact, in another piece of EU that occurs between ESB and ROTJ, the kid (who turns out was alive after all) tries to edge in on the 'Boba' we all know and love... the now adult kid paints up an old Mandalorian armor to look like 'Boba' and decides to go to Jabba's palace. Jabba, who doesn't understand why 'Boba' is back after getting paid off for bringing Han in, let's him hang out... the adult kid ends up getting into a skirmish that he didn't expect though when Luke arrives and ends up dying comically when he realizes he doesn't even really know how to use his own equipment. Later, the 'Boba' we all know hears about all of this, has a good laugh and continues to do his work with much of the SW gangster world thinking he is dead!

Wait!!! I've got it!!!

The Boba we all know and love actually ISN'T the kid from AOTC... instead he is an unknown being who killed that kid, stole the kid's dad's ship and money but kept the kid's name to throw suspicion off of himself and set out to become the biggest badass bounty hunter in the galaxy!

These truths will become self-evident someday.....
