Vote ME for Pirate for a Day at Disney!

Hello friends and family!

Here's the long and short of it. If you want to cut to the chase just read the short... if you'd like more background then read the long:

The Short-

I'm a national finalist in a contest to win a trip to Disneyland in California and be a honorary Pirate of the Caribbean for a day.
I'd be thrilled if you would vote for my video entry. Voting is open from March 6th until March 30th.

Just go to the following site and click on the 'This One Gets My Vote' link:
http//www.careerbuilder.com/disneydreamjobs/dream-job-applicant.asp?jtid=1&ytid=IQqeOg67-9I

If you have any trouble with the link just look for the video marked 'GreenCapt'.

And please forward this to anyone you know who might take a few seconds to do the same. Thanks in advance!

The Long-

This contest is sponsored by Disney and Careerbuilder.Com and is part of Disney's 2007 promotion 'Year of a Million Dreams'. The contest works thusly- within the past couple of months contestants had to submit a 45 second or less video explaining why they should be considered for one of five Disney 'dream jobs'. The honorary jobs included Haunted Mansion butler or maid, Jungle Cruise skipper, Pirate, Parade Performer and Princess-In-Waiting. The videos had to follow certain guidelines of course and were judged by Disney and CareerBuilder. Twenty finalists were selected for each category and of the twenty the TOP FIVE vote-getters will win trips for four people for four days to Disneyland. The winners also spend a day 'working' at Disney as the part they auditioned for.

So this means I have a 1 in 4 chance of winning the trip. Pretty sweet odds as I see it!

I submitted two videos in the initial round of competition- one for the Haunted Mansion job and one for Pirate. The Haunted Mansion one didn't place but a combination of ferrets and braces put the Pirate video into the finalist round! I probably should have entered the Princess-in-Waiting category too but I just couldn't find enough pixie dust. Just kidding.

I hope you enjoy my short video and really do hope you'll give me a vote. Many of the finalists in the other categories are a lot of fun too, so after you vote for me you might want to check some of those out as well.

If you have any questions please feel free to message me! I'll probably post a reminder close to the end of the voting period.

Thanks again! Arrrrr........!!!!

The Hobbit starting in 2007?

According to TheOneRing.net, THE HOBBIT may be in line to begin filming in 2007.

TheOneRing writes, "The BIG news has finally hit. A Ringer Spy who was recently in the New York offices of New Line Cinema has reported that they clearly saw 'The Hobbit' on the film schedule for 2007. Here's what the spy had to say:

"Please leave my email anonymous as I have some very exciting news to report. I was in New Line's NY offices to discuss upcoming projects when I clearly saw something very intriguing on a year planner. 'The Hobbit' was clearly marked on what looked like July 2007. I couldn't exactly take a moment to investigate the calendar with my audience in the room, but it definitely said 'The Hobbit'. Lets hope this is a PJ project!"

Make of it what you will. Thanks to Richie for the scoop.

But it's clear I'm in the minority (and I do agree with many of the grumbles people have about the film - I just see past them). It probably helps that I wasn't a big Superman comic fan before I saw the film (although it has inspired me to seek out and read some Superman graphic novels, so that's a good thing, right?)

Yeah- the more you care for a subject or it's source the more harsh one can be. For examples see most of the posts in the 'General Star Wars' section!

Plus HSVIJ has a LONG way to go to get bitchier than me about some things!

Sadly, I'm the only seeder, and I can only give it 8 kBs. Since I started seeding this thing, I've rarely seen anyone stick around to upload what they've downloaded. Big thanks to those rare exceptions, and some who seeded far beyond. And please, any of you who can help speed it up, I'd be awesome.

Hmmm... I wonder if it'd be time for another posting to Usenet? (That's where I got it in the first place). If you don't wanna, Greencapt, nor segaflip or Dark Jedi, I'd be happy to. (Of course I'd have to pause my torrent activities for a couple of days).

Hey if you could that'd be awesome! I've been having some computer issues lately so I'm not sure when I could get the uninterrupted time for an upload to usenet.

I hear ya. All I have is the original releases of Batman and Batman Returns (in the shoddy cardboard Warner Bros cases). If I was in a 'more favorable' financial postion I would like to get those movies in a decent presentation with some extras etc.

Not that I'm a shill for the company or anything, but much of my DVD buying over the years has been from the Columbia House DVD club. Hell, I started buying with Columbia in the freakin' 8-Track Club!!! Over the years I've been in the 8-Track, Cassette, Album, CD, Laserdisc (yes, they had one) and now DVD clubs- I'm one of these folks who enrolls (sometimes multiple times at once), completes the agreements and then re-enrolls when they ask you to come back with some good deals.

Why I mention this is that I recently re-enrolled yet again and noticed that all four of the Batman special edition DVDs were available for enrollment selections for only .49 cents each with free shipping. http://www.columbiahouse.com/sa/ch/homepage.jsp. Just run a search for 'Batman' and browse through the pages.

As not to hijack this thread talking about Columbia, please PM me if you have any questions or need any details. Heck, if you send me your email address I can 'recommend' you to Columbia as a 'friend' and I can score extra DVDs as well... but that's not why I mention it- merely to state you can get all the Bat-flicks for a decent price.
