Well, Lucas is still alive and making money, and Katie is being groomed to take over her father's position. We are still no closer to getting the OOT in an official and presentable release than we were 10 years ago, so getting over it is not really an option right now.

And no one can stop him, as billions of dollars will always nullify the opinions of millions.

I think GL's plan all along was to destroy the OOT, even before empire and jedi were made. People like GL, who have more money and power than the common people, can control the course of history regardless of what others say. It has been like that since the dawn of civilization; why does GL need public opinion? He will succeed without a doubt in destroying everything related the OOT because that was always his vision, to make people love a movie so much that it becomes more than just a movie, but an inextricable part of the cultural idiom, and then remorselessly destroy it. It leaves the fans with a shock and disbelief that will never go away, a hole that can never be filled. The only record we will have of the OOT ever existing is fan bootlegs that will always be behind the times in quality.
I have only one question now: Why are there evil people in the world like George Lucas?

It makes sense that people are yelling at him. He has refused, time and again, to release the OOT to acceptable standards; he is hellbent on destroying them at all costs. It's not my fault he is such an untalented, incompetent, redneck NASCAR wannabe who fell beck on filmmaking grudgingly, failed at making a coherent film, and when people came in to save his films in editing, he purges them from collective memory. Imagine Ricky Bobby trying to be a film director; that is George Lucas in a nutshell.
Such a shame we still don't have the originals. 15 years is too damn long for these masterpieces to locked in a basement while some half-assed recut is being paraded as the real thing.
Still, it's kind of hard for the sw franchise to redeem its dignity when you have darth vader vw commercials and r2d2 toothpaste. Do you think the godfather or taxi driver would have the stays they have as masterpieces if ther was a marlon Brando mr potato head or Travis Bickel doing pizza hut commercials? Every day the public is moving further and further away from the oot, and it being replaced by this over commercialized garbage.
Even if the OOT actually gets restored (which will probably never happen, admit it), the stature of the SW franchise has been destroyed beyond repair. The generation of film-goers born right now will have no understanding of why SW was so great; any good in the OT has been nullified over the past 15 years by incessant recuts and bad prequels. It hasn't helped either that with the advent of TPM that GL's mask of genius has been uncovered, and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of B-movie schlock filmmakers that are far more talented than GL ever was or will be. I can't believe he lied to us for over 20 years.
What makes me hate GL with such hatred is simply his willingness to destroy the OOT without any sense of guilt or remorse. He is a man that cannot understand the extent of the damages he is doing to these films that are woven inextricably into our culture, it's like shooting someone in the heart and not expecting them to die.
Another thing that makes my blood boil is that he managed to keep up a fraudulent appearance for 20 years in many people think he was this great auteur when he was one of the most utterly untalented persons in the history of filmmaking. Everyone else that made SW great in spite of GL has been either marginalized or purged from the official story (Marcia Lucas and Gary Kurtz); even the people that remain in good favor with GL (Spielberg) has their talents drained by his shockingly awful ineptness. Why this man went into filmmaking I have no clue, because he has nothing of merit that can contribute anything tolerable to cinema. He just think he does.
If it takes them 18 years to release the deleted scenes, how long will it take to get the OOT in anamorphic widescreen?
Now that I think of it, the church argument makes sense if we are dealing with orthodoxy in the SW franchise. Except that the OOT that people grew up on for 20 years is now being stamped as heretical and the PTSE with horrible sound and picture is the new doctrine for the current incarnation of the franchise. Even the terrible BD artwork makes sense now.

Drugs are also addictive as well. Lucas knows 95% of SW fans will buy whatever they produce because their fanbase is hooked. They can screw with the fans all they want and get no media attention, they can practically buy good reviews for their shitty products now.
At least we know Lucas created the Ewoks, because no one could be dumber than him to create something like that. Don't forget the editing of the first SW movie, which saved the film as we all know. It could have ended up like one of the prequels without Marcia's work.

They have been. Most films never see a second release, let alone a preservation effort.
Other studios still release the theatrical versions on Blu-ray, and not some direct-to-video clone like the 2011 release.
Which Im sure will happen, because people will still see Jar-Jar in 3d, because it is SW; it's no longer a movie, it's a drug. If history repeats itself, we may get another release of the GOUT on Blu-ray if there are pirated versions that interfere with sales.
You never know... humanity has always been under the thumb of some sort of ruler. But, staying on topic, LFL just needs to do what everyone else is doing. You don't see fans of citizen kane resorting to bootlegs/preservations to see the original version because Welles decided to put a CGI penguin or digitally change actors without warning. Even under corporate logic GL is not acting rationally.
You are not fighting for Civil Rights, none; this is just getting LFL to release the originals again. What you don't realize is that corporations run our society now, more so than a mere decade ago- they can control our life and death if they wanted to. Our goal should be to appeal to LFL to do what all other companies are doing: release their movies on video. That is not asking them to do anything extra. We just don't want direct-to-video remakes being passed off as the movies themselves.
