Focuspuller, I'm sorry to say this but... you can't have your cake and eat it too! While you were away from this forum, a discussion started and you can't just expect to show up now and tell everyone to shut up. Of course, the main topic here is YOUR set of BR recordings but we are ALL Blade Runner soundtrack fans and we are ALL looking for THE ultimate soundtrack... We all understand you have been dealing with personal issues in the meanwhile but you HAVE been away from this forum for a while and life goes on... What Spiderwalk did was very polite and totally in oder; he said it himself, this is the last time he will talk about it... But I think most of us here still appreciate this final update to close up the discussion in question. p.s. Thanks to both of you for all the amazing work you've been doing and thanks for the recent updates!

This thread is for this project. There are a million recources and places to discuss other soundtracks, topics, etc. You know what the rules are. Just respect this forum, thread, and project by following them. Thank you.

Quick Update:

As things stand Disc 1 is complete (with the exception of a few small tweaks). Disc 2 has been a long effort do to a few problematic tracks. Disc 3 is about 70% done.

Among some of bonus content to be include is an excerpt from a 1986 Vangelis concert. The track is a medley of Memories Of Green and The Love Theme. Quality isn't great but I have cleaned it up (tape hiss/pop removal, speed corrected, etc).

First of all let me say this is the last time i will mention my project now that Focuspuller's back in the game.

If anyone wants to download it in Flac, it's up on the blade runner soundtrack group forum in the files section, with a few tweaks here and there and upgraded artwork.

@digitalfreaknyc, you are completely right about the prologue, it was the cleanest source i had without hiss or distortion.

But it was only a portion of the first track about 2mins out of 130mins total, so you can't write off a project on that basis.

This has been rectified now for the flac version, although the speed up was barely perceptible.

I don't question how much of a fan you are, and you have been well indulged in your posts. But to continue as you have is bad form. Please respect this thread and this project.

hi guys.

Sorry for the long delay but things have been a bit crazy at my end. I have been dealing with a variety of issues that are mostly personal in nature. All that aside the project continues, although as we speak I am in the process of replacing a motherboard, ram, a processor, and main hard drive. This has merely caused a delay, not a setback. I will have more to say later today but I wanted to check in and let everyone know that I am still alive, and so is this project.

Before I go I wanted to quickly touch on another note. I have just caught up on all the posts I have missed (both on this board and private). I am glad to have the continued support from all of you that I have received and I PROMISE that your support will be rewarded. As far as other projects go however I want to state what I have said before. I support all Blade Runner related fan projects, fan edits, etc. That being said this thread in particular is for this project, just as all the other thread here are about those projects. Let me be clear, I have no problem with fellow fans trading and informing others about all the wonderful sources out there, and there are many. I do ask however that you restrict within reason conversation on this thread to this project. All other topics about other similar but separate projects should be moved privately, or, for example, to the Yahoo Blade Runner group which is as stated by myself and others is a hub for a lot of these kind of projects recently mentioned.

Thank you again for your continued support and I will post again later today.

Man, I can't find the Facebook links. The one I went to doesn't seem to have any pics from the concert, and I don't know the others. I did a search here because someone (005?) listed them all a while back, but no dice. If someone could do that again, I'd be sure to bookmark them this time! ;)

My photo albums are set to private so you'd have to add me as a friend first. Just search for "ady adywan"

Now that would be terrifying. lol

Hey say what you will, if it wasn't for Howard The Duck (and the big money hole he dug for himself because if it), Lucas would never have sold Pixar, and that company would NEVER be what it is today.

Info: The Criterion Laserdisc Preservation Thread
Time

I love "The Game Criterion", although the copy someone gave me was a compressed single layer disc instead of the uncompressed version. But I love it all the same.

Speaking of commentaries. Would applying a commentary of, say the Robocop Criterion dvd (out of print) along with other "special features" to a nicer, newer print of the film count as a preservation?

Info: Elmore Leonard Workprints (and a search for a 'Killshot' workprint)
Time

Doctor M said:

I was wondering if anyone has heard of a workprint of Killshot.

Novel: Elmore Leonard, Director: John Madden (Shakespeare in Love), Starring: Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke, Thomas Jane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson.

The movie got bounced around for several years before going straight to DVD.  During that time it seems the Weinsteins performed a hatchet job on the film.

According to Wikipedia, audience found the plot 'too confusing', which usually translates as 'too smart for them'.  They also disliked Johnny Knoxville so his entire subplot was removed.

Now I'm not a fan of Knoxville (at ALL), but his character was supposed to be unlikable.  I consider that mission accomplished, and not a reason to cut a film.

Anyway, considering the quality of the cast, director, and source material I can't help thinking this is another case of the Weinsteins cutting a pretty good film until it's tasteless, homogenous, soylent green that the masses can digest.

So again... has anyone heard of/seen/smelt of a workprint?

I heard of a workprint/screener that was floating around months before the dvd release. I may have seen it up in torrent land, but don't quote me on that.

I would support a release of this i really enjoyed this film and the talent.

Hey all,

Not to bring any other Blade Runner music creators to attention, as I am definitely in waiting for focuspuller's, but did anyone see the latest score from the "Esper" folks on ebay?  A 6 CD set called the "Retirement" Edition! The track's seem pretty rare. Though the names above are different from some of the names in the "Retirement" edition.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that new material is available on this set (compared to the other bootlegs and offical release).

I would also be extremely careful about buying any collection on ebay that offers promises of "new unheard music."

Hi Chaps,

It has been exactly 2 years since I first announced this project. In that time a lot has happened, both for me and others. Lives continue to be lived, for better or worse, some were just created this year, and some as can happen in families (mine bieng no exception) have passed on.

To be sure, I have been very busy for different reasons in different ways, but this labour of love continues. I do not have the luxary of time to only work on this project or it would be done by now, and frankly, my now 8 month old child, family, work, etc, are more important.

Having said that, work continues, and this project WILL be completed, and as others have stated, it will be done the right way. As I've also stated before, just because I don't post progress in one moment or another doesn't mean there isn't any.

I thank you all very much for your support, and I look forward to giving you an update very soon.

I know a guy local guy who is a massive Blade Runner fan and i told him about this project and i'm keeping him up-to-date on it as he's excited.

This project gave me the idea to do start a project simular for the movie 'Alien' which i've started, hope you don't mind this since it was this project that gave me the idea!

Looking forward to grabbing this myself and for the gentleman i just mentioned.

Thank you for the support. An Alien soundtrack project sounds like a great idea. Keep me updated as it moves along. :)

As for updates. I have had VERY little time to work of this lately (child, work, etc) but rest assured that it's coming. I want this project finished more then you do believe me. I haven't added any updates because what I have been working on is basicly not "new material", but there will be updates soon.

Hi Focuspuller,

We're still waiting for the mp3s. If I say I'm going to do something then I do it.

Or is this all just a scam to get people to send you their Blade Runner rare audio?

Steve.

(I'll say these things so others don't have to).

I'm not going to debate with you the finer points of having a life. I don't go to bed at night burdened with the thought that you are "waiting" for something that someone else is doing as a labour of love. When you yourself get a life, family, etc, you'll understand. Until then try showing a little respect, it goes a long way.

I actually don't think anything is unrealistic about the dates I posted. I doubt Adywan disagrees with them himself.

Well yes i do disagree with the dates. All you seem to do lately is whine about how long it is taking and i'm tired of it. Do you know how much of the film is actually finished? No.So how can you possibly know it won't be ready for he May release date? I want this movie done right, not have to rush it just to get it out early to keep you happy.

Yes, there are more things i need to build to replace the original mattes etc but this costs money, a lot of money in fact. I remember you stating that you were willing to donate to the fund, in fact you said you would donate a lot more if another clip was offered. Well i offered more than that last time. I offered a whole workprint copy and an exclusive clip. But guess what:- no sign of anything from you at all. I guess you were all talk and no action. So don't start moaning again about release dates when i can't possibly fund this thing completely by myself, which is what is slowing the whole process down quite considerably. If it wasn't for the kindness of the members here, this project would have probably been scrapped by now.

Actually, Ganamae, who won the workprint, came up with a great idea on what i could offer to help generate the much needed donations. So here it is:

Anyone that donates from today will have a chance to have a cameo in ESB:R. There are a limited amount of places i can insert members, but i need to go through the whole movie to determine the exact amount. So, if there are more donations than places, another draw will take place. But its probably about 20 places to give you some idea. Plus each person that donates will get to see the behind the scenes footage a MONTH before anyone else once the footage is completed.

I have to say honestly Ady, while I see what you're saying, I think it's a little ugly to point out who's donating and who isn't. I know you were trying to make a point, but I think it brings down your statement.

And for the record I still think that injecting money (even donations and such) can make for a murky scenario, even if handled well.

That bieng said. I'm sure the money that has been , and will be spent (as well as your hard work) will be highlighted greatly when the finished product is seen.

On a lighter note, things seem to be shaping up well. Do what you have to, and take all the time you need. And get some bloody sleep.

OK here's the deal.......

I'm very busy, for reasons that are very obvious. Also a legal action (which I expected) has appeared. Things are hard right now and I'm trying to see the bright side in all things and enjoy life as best as I can, like everyone else.

All that being said in about a month from now I will probably be even busier then I am now, with little time to focus on things that are pleasurable. So, as I've said before, I'm going to try and release something soon. The fastest way to do this, as I've said before, is to release a kind of "workprint" with the final product to come later.

This workprint will first be released in an mp3 form, then later Lossless. As a workprint, the mix will NOT be final and be presented in a "take it or leave it" form.

Surprise? You're living dangerously. I couldn't handle that.

When we had our final scan, the nurse said

"You are quite a rarity, everyone wants to know these days!"

and then she added..

"There are few surprises left in life.. good choice"

Well all the best wishes. :) May he/she "burn very very brightly" as Dr. Tyrell would say.
