Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Harmy, I'm looking at your screen shots posted on Picasa and it looks like what you have accomplished is just super neat! I would love to be able to do the matte work you do.

Looks like you fixed the fast receding STAR WARS title logo. Thank you. Any fan could instantly tell something was off when they saw that title rocketing away at such an unnatural pace, looked like the film was sped up.

Many of the SE shots look muddy. Peoples faces shadowy and hard to read. Thanks for bringing the light back.

Die, floaty droid!

CG monsters be gone! None of the CG creature looked particularly real and the quick and understated looks at the practical creatures in the original just blended into the movie world better.

Violent fire blasts added back to the detention guy's chests. Yes! Just like I saw in the theatre when I was a wee lad of eight years.

'Tractor Beam' in english. Love that.

Comedy room of sitting stormtoopers, gone. What were they just sitting there for?

The cardboards guy's are back! Though this was about the only SE change I liked.

And finally... Someone got rid of those matte boxes properly. Those things have been bugging me for decades. Were the Lucas Film guy's unable to see these things? Can't wait to see this in motion.

If you do this treatment to Return of the Jedi, which I pray you do, don't skip the ultra obvious matte boxes during the Death Star tunnel sequence. And the dance number, I don't know how you do that.

Anyway, in a few hours I should have the final part too the download. Thanks again.

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)
Time

Harmy, watching this movie in its original form brings joy to my heart. I've watched parts of it, and it looks very nice and crisp. The cloud city parts are probably as good as they will get, unless better materials pop up. Thanks so much for the hard work. I hope you get to the other two.

As far as the official SE trilogy goes, I feel that the most ruinous part of the 'improved' versions of these movies, is the addition of seeing Vader traveling back to his star destroyer in 'Empire'. The insertion of this unnecessary sequence just crashes the pacing of, what may be, the most perfect part of the entire saga. I can't understand in any cinematic way, why this change was made. Was this the first sign of Lucas' space ship landing fetish, that fully manifested its self in the prequels?

So, unlike the PDE this is not an ISO image, so anyone knows what to do with these on a Mac??

I use Windows and did a search for how to burn a AVCHD to a DVD using Nero. This worked for me just fine. Maybe you can do a search for how to burn to DL DVD on a Mac.

Do Mac's even use Nero?

Thanks. I'll have to give Vegas a try.

I see that Spence has put up a youtube video tutorial for DVDDecrypter and Womble Mpeg Video Wizard, and I think he has one for Vegas that he's putting up later.

I've figured out all the edits I want to make (hundreds, maybe even a thousand of the bastards), its the technology I need to figure out.

Thanks for the reply, Harmy. I've read through ADigitalMan's Guide, and it's very good but still leaves much for me to discover. One problem with using that guide is that I would like to work in an HD format and the guide is a bit on the outdated side for that. I'll just have to look over the the tech forum more and maybe ask a few questions there.

Sony Vegas sounds good, though I hear that its kind of complicated. Maybe I should just pick a program and try to learn it, instead of giving many programs a quick look, only to be left confused by each ones differences.

The Empire Strikes Back IMPERIAL "AUDIOPHILE" EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score - J. Williams & LSO (Released)
Time

The Conan score is strait up awesome. I really wish there was a complete version. You get the 'Kitchen' and 'Orgy' tracks but then it cuts out before the big finally as Conan fights Rexor and the other guy. This is my favorite part and all I have is a flat sounding track someone extracted from the DVD's soundtrack.

If you love Conan, how do you like Poledouris' RoboCop score? It's my favorite of all his music.

Harmy's STAR WARS TRILOGY "Partly Despecialized Edition" HD. !!! These version are now obsolete - Look for Despecialized Editions instead!!!
Time

I looked at those Youtube clips and it's good stuff.

I will say, that when you take another crack at these next year, think about taking out all of the CGI creatures. I don't mind the CGI X-Wings, but the CGI animals and droids just take you right out of the movie.

I do have an idea about the cutting in of lower rez footage into HD. Would it be possible to subtlety turn down the sharpness a second or two before and after the lower rez clips too make the transitions less noticeable? I guess each clip has its own special issues.

And before I forget. Thank you very much, and keep up the good battle.

Return of the Jedi cut-scene
Time

I suport MagnoliaFan's take on this. Everyone, don't make this any more compicated than it is.

As much as i hate the special edition alterations, a small part of me would like to see this scene placed into the original movie. The scene is moody, kinda spooky and actualy rather cool, and I think it might give RotJ a bit more dramatic heft, even if it does slightly spoil Luke's later entrance.

J. Williams & LSO, The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AUDIOPHILE EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score (Released)
Time

One thing I would like to see, or do my self, if I can learn how, would be a combination into one, of all the end credit music for all three SW films. Just let all the various themes seqway from one to another, creating a continuous arc that would go for ten or more minuets. A super end credit track!

ABC,

I got your two earlier releases of this most wonderful of film scores and was truly impressed by your painstaking diligence at the restoration of so many subtle details.

This is my number one favorite film score and it's nice to know that there are still those out there that care, and are willing to put so much of there personal time into a project, for no monetary gain. I wished that Lucas Film would care even half as much. It's just weird. I just can't figure Lucas out.

Anyway, thanks for all the work. Maybe sometime I will have a chance to hear the third edition of your project.

The Empire Strikes Back "1980 Theatrical version" Reconstruction - Adywan (Released)
Time

Thank you, thank you Adywan. This is just all kinds of wonderful. I can now watch Empire without feeling 'unclean' as I do when I watch the SE.

For years now I have felt that the jammed in 'Vader goes to his ship' scenes have been overlooked as one of the most destructive of the SE changes. What was the dramatic crux, and maybe the best paced and edited part of the entire entire trilogy, is just ruined. The rhythm of it, the timing of the music (also maybe the best arc of music ever to grace a film), the very emotion of it is thrown out of whack. Even a amateur film maker wouldn't make this mistake.

I'm glad to hear that you might try to do an HD upgrade of this. Please give it a shot. I would kill for that.

Was there a clip from Clone Wars cartoon? I don't Remember.

Someone has posted a collected version in WMV format on Demonoid.com.
