I understand. (could you read my post above ^)
I get how temp tracks work.
now lets move on.
" BTW, you think you could come up with a good/better Droid/Villian theme?
I think something similar (not exactly the same notes, but the same mood) to this would be interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58wJRrvVgZI
or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCQKLKElPBY
But its still up to you.
maybe this will be some inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvu3hCmHRf4 "
My examples:

Vs.

and

But you were saying, since they did something bad, I can do it too, but you do not have to, Goldsmith was told to write something exactly like Superman for Supergirl, He didnt, Goldsmith was told to write music for Star Trek The Motion Picture similar to Star Wars, He barely did.
but its your piece of music and it works.
maybe this will be some inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvu3hCmHRf4
I just want to let you know, that I am not trying to be rude or anything, and I still respect your work, just this idea didnt really work for me.
I apologize if I got too heated.

So, by your logic, we should not worry about George Lucas messing up Star Wars again? because the film world is filled with Special Editions and stupid sequels and prequels?
If the Blu-rays had all of the OT replaced with CG and purple tint would you say "I no Longer take this seriously, if he wants to do it, he can, and I will watch and not worry about it"
Is that not against the mission of this site?
You should do better than ILM/LF/GL/JW not the same.

if your not going to make something new..... then why not just paste the actual recordings? If you do not see the difference between the actual recording and all variations I have done so far...what can I do ?
by something new I mean : my personnal style, new original theme etc
well thats what people want, for example with Star Trek the motion picture, there had already been a main theme set, however Jerry Goldsmith opted to write a new theme, I think a new theme would be better than a theme steal, its rather lazy writing.
and I liked your variations so far because...well... they are varitations of themes already in STAR WARS (Vader's theme, Luke and Leia, Leia's theme, and the Imperial Motif), this is a variation of a theme that is not in star wars, so it does not mesh well.
BTW I do not think you should be so dead set on using certain ideas and not taking the criticism and working more on them more, remember Binary Sunset had to be re-written because it did not fit the scene, if Williams had objected to rewriting it, well, we might not have the music for the funeral pyre in JEDI.
And have you given thought to how your new pieces might effect the musical narrative? just curious.

Now it sounds like "Parade of the Slave Children" meets "Leaving Home"
I am glad ! I am not working here to create something new, very personal...but trying to fit Williams style.
how many things in Williams work sounds close to other ? sometime there is unsubtle copy/paste with minor change...so, where is the problem if I do the same ? I don't understand.
if your not going to make something new..... then why not just paste the actual recordings?
Not all of williams works sound as close to each other as your piece does, his are usually just similar styles, but yours is an almost blatant rip-off, I mean, I like williams pastiche as much as the next guy, but if John Williams did decide to write a motif for Anakin and Obi-wan, I think it would sound different.
Now it sounds like "Parade of the Slave Children" meets "Leaving Home"
and the ending crash.
I agree, a Superman pastiche is not the way to go, if you were intent on using it for inspiration, there could maybe a slight similarity in style of the two cues, but not an almost exact match.
And even if "you" do not kill any of the main (Leia, Chewie, Han, and Luke etc.) heroes off, you can still damage them severely (missing limbs tc.)
Or just mirror it ;)
Why do Anakin and Obi-Wan have an Americana theme?
too bad the "Battle of the Heroes" motif couldnt be twisted into a heroic/noble motif for Anakin and Obi-wans relationship....
and....

PALPATINE: Use my knowledge, I beg you . . .(Here I wanted to laugh - 5 seconds ago he was winning and now he has to beg Anakin? Very inconsistent dialog - written and played inconsistent.
That is kind of the Point, he does not have to beg, but its him trying to sound like a good guySidious....seems to fear Anakin which is laughable, because in the OT Anakin is his slave.
Well in the OT he is crisped, crippled, (not to mention past 30) and stuck in a (heavy) suit, Instead of young and in his prime soooo.....

what about this ? (it's rough)
Perhaps you could use the underlying rhythms and chord progressions of the Imperial Motiv and use the overlying melody of the march and combine them so it doesnt sound so mish mashy?

For some reason the lounge music with the droids in the control room hit me just right! Actual LOL

He has not finished digitally adding electronics/rock guitar to the music yet of course!

Want a new original music for the strike on the Jedi temple ?
Part of the beginning reminds me of the Danger motif from The Lost World
will you bring the Boba fett and/or Imperial motif (NOT THE MARCH) into your music at any point?

Call me thick but I never noticed until now how Chewie parrots Han's number call so presumably his last line in the sequence is "...four?" (in a WTF voice).
Never Mind

I would try a filter that makes it sound like its coming over a radio or something. Lower the quality a bit?
I was thinking that too, but I remembered that "The Towering Inferno" gave the source music (music that is supposed to be part of the scene i:e coming from a radio) a very large amount of reverb, which gave it a sense of "distance" so that's why I suggested reverb.
but a filter would probably work better.

I'll take a look at it in audacity and see what is available.
Here is a link to a list of plug-ins for audacity: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=VST_Plug-ins

An attempt to minimize the music conflicts.
Sounds good, though I would suggest making seem part of the scene a bit by adding reverb, or something to give the impression of the music coming from the cockpit.

"what are you sourcing from? i heard the dvd movie had a just one channel for music, which would be handy if the series was the same."
Other way around, the series has no music in the center channel, where the DVD movie has music in the center
