Wow, I didn't even know we had a resident composer! New themes are a great idea. I'd love to have some consistant thems for the Trade Feds, Madaloreans, Techno Union, etc.
As I refine the rough cuts one of my goals will be to remove all the clumsey humor as much as possible. I don't mind comic relief, but it has to be appropriate, well done and not overdone. This will hopfully include most of the battle driod dialogue. Their lines mostly don't work for me. I want to give these edits as serious a tone as possible.
While I agree that new cues, themes, and motif's would be the best route to go, If you feel you just want to use music from the films you should check out my video of "Shadow of the Malevolence" with classic (JW) star wars music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Oul86hRJws (Part 2) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOUwAXDVda4 (Part 1)
shameless advertising over.

yes in my cellar !
Chinese musicians are low cost ;)
Really? or are they just really good samples? because a friend of mine, GoodMusician (who composes music, look up Prime Survival: Jurassic Park) would like to know what samples you use, mostly for his scores, and for mockups of unused music

You are talking about the glorious end of the music ? it was actually my fear - my first version was slighter, but I tought it would be nice to finish this with a "brass power chord"
greenpenguino, what music are you talking about ? (post a youtube link if you can)
He is referring to the Droid motif, which was only used in ESB, its used extensively when they first arrive on Dagobah

Ric Olie, you are alot more awesome than Panaka (tho Panaka is not terrible, just 14th place behind Ric), your handsomeer, cooler, and just plain more obvious than he is
The Droid motif from ESB? if so, I agree!
though I thought the Qui-gon clip was a bit too bombastic
George W Lucas Jr.? scary....

Here we are !
The Birth of the twins :

New original music (based on Luke and leia's theme) and new cut
I love it, I always thought this theme should play a part in during this scene.
(however, If you ever do a Jurassic Park: The Lost World edit, and you replace any music, I will have to make you disappear lol)
(of course there will always be detractors: "Nah, it sounds too much like fan masturbation ('Hear! It's Luke & Leia's Theme!!) but it isn't the right tone for the scene, since the tune seems to represent a romantic manifestation of grown people worlds apart, which hasn't any context here. Williams could've subtly hinted at at, but certainly forgot the tune" ~JWfan member)

I won't put it up on youtube because it will just get blocked in many countries.
It will not be if you dispute the block

It's like the opposite of radical. It's a slight line variation.

The soundtrack, I assume he means.
Well, if that's the case, I don't own it.
I've been meaning to make a 5.1 encode of the 12 minute clip to check out on my sound system and see how bad the echos really are.
Yeah, thats what I meant, I have been posting on JWfan too much
TV's Frink said:
Because I'm extending scenes, which means I have to extend music as well. Ideally I would find music without dialogue in the scene, but usually the best I can do is to find a part where the echo isn't as bad.
couldnt you use the Ultimate Edition of the Soundtrack?
but why is it repeating over and over, after the dialogue has been already been said long before?
whats with the echo?
"Tell them...Good Morning!"

Here's another attempt at "Don't be a coward."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_x098sOEfw
I tried crossfading a bit (although I can't do it much because I start catching other words) and I also tried to extend the end of "coward" a bit to catch the hard "d." I can't push the word any farther because the word is actually "cowards" and I need to cut off the "s."
But...that got me thinking of another approach:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WoHthkFtgo
The issue here is that Ric shouldn't be laughing - he's a Naboo too. I thought of having Obi laugh instead (that's whose laugh it actually is), but I wanted to get a little of the Panaka/Ric rivalry in-joke into the edit at least a little.
Thoughts?
you know you could look on youtube for really good Qui-Gon impersonators.....
"I pray you will bring sanity back to my ship" HILARIOUS!! good job Frank!*

I actually HATE the term GOUT, just sounds stupid to me, like a disease or something.
There IS a disease called "Gout"....
...but you probably already knew that...
This thread is almost 1,000 pages, 300+ of them are probably off topic
Thanks DF Shadow for bringing us back on topic
I am sure adywan will design the menus to look how they should, "he's quite clever you know....for a human being"
I don't know if you are already doing this, but you can crossfade the lines and it should sound cleaner hopefully
bated breadth
