What did you use to create the grooves?

A fork? Stanley? or something else?

I used one of these:

Prefect tool to use so that all the grooves aren't uniform. I covered the foam board with plaster powder mixed with 100% PVA glue and used this tool then to create the texture. The PVA not only helps the plaster bond better but also gives it the perfect mixture to be able to drag the tool across the surface, creating smooth texture.

Also I am curious will you be populating this miniature with models or digital matte?

Basically we know that you plan to replace the out of scale background but what will it be comprised of?

I saw those y-wing finemolds pics and really increased my interest if you will be adding physical models to the shot...

I will be using the fine molds 1/72 models to populate it as it is built to 1/72 scale. I will have to digitally insert the transports using available shots of the original models (would love to have used the resin kit of the Transports available on ebay, but i just couldn't afford the £400+ price tag). All the boxes, pipes etc will be built physically at 1/72 and placed in the set, including all the lights etc. Then the troops and pilots that the 2nd unit filmed will be inserted . I have a smoke machine that will be used to add a fine layer of smoke in the hangar, then digitally insert the jets of steam seen in the full scale version (falcon hangar)

Hey, Adywan. I just wanted to thank the Re-Creater for all the hard work he put in. This will be your legacy, man.

In spite of all we think of the Prequels, the good or bad, why not take the challenge of trying to enhance and improve Lucas' storyline that's already in them? What with all the work you plan to do (that'll pretty much change the entire face of the Prequels, anyway) why not just stay true to a purist's mentality by just tweaking and cutting out minor scenes like the Phantom Editor has done? And whatever needs to be added to improve the storyline, then just add it, like what you did with ANH R.

Well anyway, it just seems a bit extreme to me to gut out and change the films into something that will make them unrecognizable, if that's even possible. I know that you hate most of it anyway, but I think it's still possible to save these films, whether it be minor or major edits, especially if you're going to re-dub Jar Jar and the Neimoidians.

The point I'm trying to make is, if you're trying to re-invent these films, I can only imagine a long and tedious and probably really expensive road ahead of you, that may or may not work. I mean, you're probably looking at (what?) ten years before it's all said and done. It seems like a lot to put on yourself.

But besides all that, I just wanted to say thanks.

So while many utterly hate the Ewoks, I see no way to remove them and still make an enjoyable film. But then of course it would be Adywan's/anyone else's aim to minimize their presence as much as possible. Well, I think the following ideas can perhaps best utilize them whilst keeping them, since they were originally supposed to be the primitive Wookiees that defeat the technologically superior Empire anyway:

1) Redub them, make them tougher, more vicious sounding.

2) Remove the cheesiest and "cutest" stuff of course.

3) Perhaps physically alter their appearance, though I doubt this could be done effectively--haps something simple but creepy, like glowing eyes.

4) Somehow indicate that they have been planning an attack upon the Empire for some time. Using Anthony Daniels' lines from the radio drama, as demonstrated by...SSWR (I think?) and incorporated into my theoretical edit found in my link, could go a long way to convince the viewer that they are pretty tough. If we saw stormtrooper armor and/or corpses in the Ewok huts (ideally during the Han Solo cookout), showing Ewoks setting up log traps, and incorporating Tony Daniels lines together could really sell the package. That way, even though Ady intends to place more emphasis on the commando actionsjj, we would still be able to better believe the Ewoks' efforts were efhhffhfhfective as well

4 is what i thought had been the case when i first seen the film back in 83, when they revealed all these staged catipults and such.

but like you, i wished threepio would have mentioned that the ewoks were planning an attack before the rebels got there, anyway.

As 005 said, I always thought of the shields on Hoth as being "above the ground," intended to stop orbital bombardment, with nothing making contact at ground level. This is why the walkers land farther away and simply approach by ground. Unlike the spherical Gugan shields, which protect from all sides, the OT's shields seem to have the capability of being isolated to face a single direction (as seen when the rebel pilots switch their defelctors on "double front" during the Death Star attack in ANH).

This was pretty much how I saw it. And I figured this was the case in The Phantom Menace, when the Trade Federation had to land their transports far away, too.

It might make sense for someone to attempt a Force Ghost huddle at the end of ROTJ where the older incarnations of Anakin, Yoda and Ben grow young.

That way Seb Shaw and Sir Alec (and Frank Oz's hand) get to appear but if these new episodes use PT actors as Force ghosts the continuity still stands.

I put this idea here because PT regulars might spot better Hayden and Ewan shots for Seb and Alec to morph into than the existing SE Hayden and Ewan needs to be picked from scratch.

Maybe there is material in the making of documentaries or deleted scenes where Hayden doesn't look so Gary Glittery.

Since Adywan mentioned that he will dub over the voices of the Neimoidians and Gungans with new alien sounding languages, will he change the dialogue, too? If so, then what should he change it to? Maybe we can give him ideas on what to change.;)

Has anyone ever considered doing this?

Place the scene when Zam Wessel puts away her rifle and climbs into her speeder right after the scene where Obi-Wan points and says, "There he is". I never liked how the Jedi just happened to find her in all that traffic, especially when it looked like she flew in the opposite direction way before Anakin saves his master from falling.

Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?

I'm happy with any deleted scene improvement. Please show.

Tim, I imagine it's pretty tough. The colorized It's a Wonderful Life is only fair. I think it'd be neat, but I understand it's not worthwhile. As for filming new actors, I agree that would be fantastic.

I just checked out your videos and noticed that you placed certain scenes in a different order than what they should be. I'm guessing this is intentional.

The new deleted scene featuring the shootout with the storm troopers inside the bunker is placed as the second attempt to enter it, when it should be right before they enter the bunker's lower communication room in their first attempt.

The other scene is when Jerjerrod spitefully decides to blow up the moon of Endor hoping to gain some satisfaction before he dies. This was something "he" decided on, not ordered to do. According to the novel, this should happen after the Emperor is dead and when the Rebel ships started causing major damage to the Death Star after its shield was destroyed. And like what happened in ANH, the Death Star explodes right before the act to destroy its target.

If anything should be changed, it should be this. Maybe you can throw in some scenes showing these Rebel ships firing on the Death Star's exterior. This was emphasized in the novel, but some reason Lucas forgot to show us a scene where this happens.

All these fan editors' tastes and ideas seem to conflict with each other. This one likes this, but doesn't like that. This one likes that, but doesn't like this. It's getting a bit sickening.

Remove Kamino entirely? How does this help the film?

Wow!

I can see removing silly dialogue, or cutting out worthless scenes that would make the movie better, but to take out scenes that are good regardless if they're unimportant is just rediculous. I mean, why bother gutting a movie if you're left with only half the film? What's the point?

Sorry about the blank posts, guys. For some reason, the messages won't take on these boards. Anybody else having a problem posting messages from their PC? I can do it from my IPad, but not from my PC. Could it be because of my user id is logged in from the same ip address, which isn't allowed on this site, or maybe my computer has a virus I'm unaware of?

I myself would prefer a made up language than dubbing in another real language, but I would have to say I did enjoy daneditor's edit which dubbed the Nemoidians and Jar Jar's voices in Turkish.

I posted this on another board but figured this board relates to it more...

This is one thing that always looked fake to me. I don't know if anybody has done this yet, but has anyone considered changing Padme's blaster during the arena battle into something that would look like something she could hold with one hand? Everybody else, in all the movies, had to hold that thing with two hands, but she managed to do it with one. I can't believe Lucas never bothered to correct her on holding and firing a gun prop so it looks real. Sigh.

Star Wars Episode I Ultimate Edit (* unfinished project *)

I liked the vid. I also loved how you inserted the OT music, too. I'm hoping you will add in a lot of old scores so it feels more like the OT. This is something I thought Lucas should have done with the Prequels, and it was something that sort of hurt the new films in my opinion.

I think it's possible to excise the whole chosen one prophecy and midi-chlorian virgin birth storyline completely, and I liked how it was edited out in this scene. It was done well here, but I would have loved to see the Jedi Council scene where this is discussed in more detail re-edited, instead. This I feel would be the challenge.
