Yes, Sean, keeping thinking that. That is what those commies want you to think...

What satanists have you known personally? And I am not talking about your high school 'I want to be different from everybody else, so I need to find a thing to make me cool' sort of fake satanists. Regardless of whatever wikipedia may say or other such internet sources, it can be some pretty creepy crap these people are after. I don't know how bad I think they are for them to be not as bad as I think, but anywho who pursues that sort of stuff isn't someone I want to be hanging around.

I've dealt with a few and I can tell you satanists are freaks. I don't think Sean as ever met one. They are completely psycho and you cannot communicate with them on a level you'd imagine. Especially the ones that been practicing for years.

But millions of people are and have been bullied, and these school shootings are still rare enough to be exceptional, not the norm. It's not bullying that's the direct cause; perhaps a contributing factor, but that's all. The real problem is a combination of things. It seems to me this guy was beyond narcissistic. How else do you explain him sending that video to NBC? And the contents of it, from what I've heard, seem to be him railing at 'rich kids' and trust fund babies. In other words, he was self-absorbed and jealous, not to mention likely clinically depressed and on some medication.

The level to which this was planned also showed that he didn't just 'explode' and kill a bunch of people. He was methodical, and knew exactly what he was doing.

As for the guy being arrested, I can't say I'm terribly sympathetic to him personally, and I'd say he needs a good beating, but I really don't like the idea of arresting a guy for words. Unless he actually called for someone's murder, of course.

Well, it could have a lot to to with how he said it. The supreme court as ruled that not all speech is protected, specifically if it causes a disturbance. In example, if a man yells "Fire!" in a crowded theater in order to incite chaos then he is guilty of a breach of the peace. This guy probably has a history of something odd and then the way he said whatever he was thinking could have been taken as a threat by the rest of the students if it is supported by his history, tone of voice, and exactly what was said, if it meets all of those then I find it justified.

That sounds good, but Rob should put something on the end of the thread title, like NSFRM, which would stand for Not Safe For Real Men, which would let us guys who prefer the soft and voluptuous beautiful bodies of women know that we should not click this thread.

Millions of lives are saved each year through self defense uses of firearms. Hundreds or thousands are killed each year by suicide and murder. But if they didn't have a gun, they'd just use a different weapon, like a bat, crowbar, knife, or whatever else they could get their hands on.

Example: in 2005 there were 14.860 homicides in the US (got this from wikipedia). In 68% of the cases firearms were used (14.860 x 0.68)/365=27.68 deaths every day. That does not include suicide etc.
How many people do you think Cho Seung-Hui could have killed if he only had a crowbar, a bat or a knife? Fact is, killing is much much easier with a gun. If you end up in a fight and you get out of control people a more likely to get killed if you have access to a gun than other weapons like bats, crowbars and knifes.

But Seung-Hui would have been taken out much quicker if a Professor or a student had been packing.

And machine guns have been illegal in America since sometime in the 70's. The other semi-automatic rifles that you might see from time to time are just that, semi-automatic.

There's a shooting range in Nevada (near Las Vegas) where you can shoot an Uzi, but to my knowledge, you can't own an Uzi in any state. I may be wrong on that though, living in California tends to make one think that anything "bad" is banned everywhere.

Yeah, you're completely wrong. In most other states you just need the proper transfer fees and other requirements to own an automatic weapon. You dipshits from California seem to have a tendency to provide information based more on the goings on in your own ridiculous state than actual facts.

Way to be an asshole. We're not dipshits, we just live under mostly totalitarian gun control laws.

Since you fail to mention the "other requirements" and almost seem to treat it lightly, here's some links to Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_the_United_States

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

The second one is more important since it shows exactly what is required to own an automatic weapon. It's not exactly an easy process. It requires extensive background checks, high fees ($200), photographs, fingerprints, written permission from the ATF before moving the weapon across state lines. In other words, unless you're a firearms collector, you probably aren't going to own any automatic weapons. It's a major pain in the ass and it's not worth it to most people.

So yeah, I was wrong (I said I might be), but that doesn't change the fact that it's not easy to own an automatic weapon in any state.

Time and time again it has been proven that despite the weapon, these nuts will do what they want. As I understand it at present, Seung-Hui used at least one 9mm Glock handgun with what may be several high capacity magazines. Would he have been able to kill more if he had access to a fully automatic weapon? Yes. Would he have killed less people if he would have only limited 10 round magazines? Possibly, but who knows. Could any stiff laws have prevented this? No, I don't think so.

I think that fully automatic weapons should be highly regulated and controlled mainly because I can think of no reason why a regular person should have one. I have been assigned and carried a Heckler & Koch MP5 9mm fully automatic submachine gun. Having fired several thousand rounds through it and trained to use it, I cannot fathom why a regular citizen would need it at all. That said, I do think every decent American needs to own and learn to use some form of handgun, rifle, or shotgun. Having the opportunity to speak with hardened criminals on a regular basis, I have learned every one of them (exempting the few true sociopaths I have met) are greatly fearful of guns and have tried their best to target their victims to someone least likely to have a gun (i.e. women, elderly, late teens) One guy even had performed at least 10 home invasions and when asked how he picked the houses, he stated he targeted people that looked like the would never even consider using a gun. He targeted people driving a Toyota Prius, people displaying multiple religious stickers on their car, people who wore t-shirts proclaiming their liberal tendencies. Simply said, he didn't want to even think of messing with Bubba in a pick-up truck because he could have a gun.

I have also learned in my years of experience that bad guys almost always buy their guns on the unregulated black market. So no matter how many of these Brady bill idiots get up and try to "control guns" they never realize or acknowledge the fact that they cannot control the illegal weapons trade. So by making more laws to prevent gun ownership, you are only undermining the innocent people from defending themselves. In this instance of Virgina Tech, Seung-Hui legally purchased his firearms, but even if he couldn't have bought them at a store, I'm sure he would have sought out an illegal source and gotten much worse than a Glock 9mm and probably got a Tec-9 much like Dylan Klebold carried at Columbine.

I think you need to arm the good to overcome the bad, gun control freaks want to disarm the good and leave them at the mercy of the bad. That is bad policy and stupid.

One things the wacko gun control freaks will not admit is that if somebody had been armed on that campus, Cho Seung-Hui could have been taken out quicker thus causing less deaths. I know that I carry my gun everywhere I go and if this were to happen wherever I am, I would do everything I could to take out the gunman.

In the Journal of American College Health Volume 51 Number 2 I read an article titled "Guns and Gun Threats At College" written by Matthew Miller M.D., David Hemenway PhD, and Henry Wechsler PhD. This article, which was published in 2002, states that over 10,000 students were polled at 119 4 year colleges which showed that only 4.3% of those polled admitted to having a functional gun at college. That number is terrible to me and should be more around 30%-40%. If more did hve guns the chances would be better that this nut could have been safely whacked way before he got to victim #10. However, these gun control nuts would want 4.3% taken to 0% and have any chances our students have taken away in the next shooting event, how sad these idiots think this way.

I think we should ban ropes. They are, after all, a large factor in suicides. Just having one around makes me think continuously of roping something. Plus, they could make poeple think of a time whenever people were hung on the city square and how inhumane our culture used to be becuase murderers were put to death immeditaly, thus saving thousands of dollars. They are so damn accesable, you can walk into any Wal-Mart in America and buy a rope, plus they don't even card you! So any 10 year old with afew bucks could own a deadly rope. Sure, sure, it may look like a little innocent twine, but in the hands of the right individual, it could be a non-stoppable killing device. Think of all the murders, suicides, tortures, hangings, accidental deaths, and broken limbs that have been caused by rope. everyone gather with me and we'll fight to ban rope!

NO MORE ROPE! NO MORE ROPE!

On a serious note, this is terrible and should not have happened. However, that guy did the best thing by blowing his head off. It sure saved us millions upon millions of dollars to prosecute him and countless hours of the media cashing in on the event of the trial. Terrible those people died.

There are two Black Americans which I greatly admire, being the ever venerable Bill Cosby and the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson. Those guys are great Black Americans and more people need to rally around their causes. I think Reverend Peterson is probably more how Dr. King would be if he had lived. I have great respect for Dr. King and I damn sure wished that he would have lived.

Would you still watch SW without John William's brilliant score?
Time
I'm not big on "what if" questions mainly because if William's score was not used then whatever would have been used would have been normal and in that alternate universe William's score would have been weird. Kind of like if things had turned out differently would we be asking "Would you have enjoyed Star Wars better if Harrison Ford had played Han Solo instead of Nick Nolte?"

I didn't even know who Imus was until he made those comments. Even the day he made them, I saw headlines on Google News referencing Imus and I completely ignored them. It wasn't until the next day watching Fox News that I even began to find out who he was or what he'd said. And again, how does it hurt their accomplishments? And if it does hurt their accomplishments, how does firing him repair that? All firing him did was let CBS and MSNBC distance themselves from him.

So unless they're losing a scholarship or their grades suddenly tumble from some kind of emotional stress, I fail to see how his comments did anything to hurt them. Since the girls themselves have said how stupid the comments were knowing what they've accomplished, I don't think its had any effect on them whatsoever.

It was the fact that Sharpten, Jesse Jackson, and the media made a big deal out if it that I feel it tainted their accomplishment. I am so sick of Sharpten and Jackson trying so hard to make an issue out of nothing in order to keep their picture on the news. Them two have set race relations back 20 years every time they get on the news and spout their white hatred filled propaganda. It is ashame these guys invoke the great name of Martin Luther King, whom I firmly believe wanted equality and not superiority, I am sure Mr. King would be greatly saddened at how bastardized his sermons have become in the hands of these glory seeking morons. I don't like Imus, but he did not say anything in a demeaning or ridiculing manner, he made a stupid and bad joke, he is a moron. However, he does have the right to be stupid. I am sure if Snoop Dog was on his radio show and commented that the Tennessee teams was full of "White trash bitches" not one thing would have been said. It is truly amazing that in just over 125 years, we have come from the immoral practice of slavery and treating humans as property to total equality, and some are still not happy. Disregarding a few, I firmly believe white against black racism is virtually dead. In this 2007 a black person can deservedly go to college, become a C.E.O., be the most powerful and richest TV personality to date, and achieve a legendary status in a particular sport why should they worry about a bad joke a washed up old radio jock states. It is completely ridiculous and menial.

Most Liberal and Conservative movies

And the other is "Dave." Of course, it was semi-subtle way to get the public to associate these characters with Clinton. I guess since Clinton couldn't actually have a real presidential legacy, he had to have it fictionally created.

I love "Dave" and I never associated it with dipicting a conservative turns liberal President. As a matter of fact, being a conservative, I was rather impressed with the fact the whole movie never ever mentions what party that President is with. I felt the stuff that Dave did was neither liberal nor conservative, just right. Which is what kind of President we need, one that sees past party affilations and just does what is right. Now "American President", yes, that was a liberal propaganda movie to me.

is there any Star Trek Enterprise fans here?
Time
Yeah, Evo, you were wrong for that. I didn't read it, but I am glad Troy posted it if I ever decide to read it.

Moving on, I like Enterprise alright, I saw the Series Premier from a pizza parlor while I was at work one day and thought it was pretty good. The few other episodes I've seen, I've enjoyed. I also like Scott Bakula pretty good and I thought he did a decent job as Captain Archer. However, I LOVE TNG and I would absolutely do anything for Counselor Troi played by Marina Sirtis (that woman is so damn hot!!!) I've already put my wife on notice that if I had a shot at Marina I'd damn sure take it. However, I'll digress on that and state that I also really enjoy the original Star Trek. Voyager is also okay, but I hate DS9, seemed so boring to me never going anywhere and just waiting for someone to visit. It reminded me of Gilligan's Island in space. I was never too big on any of the characters on their except Worf.
