Also, keep in mind that Ferris lives in Texas, not Los Angeles. Racial tensions are higher in L.A. than almost anywhere else in the country. The L.A.P.D. has a long history of alleged racism and corruption, not the least of which was brought to light during the O.J. Simpson trial, which is the entire reason he was found not guilty.
I have read your whole post, and gave a brief glace at the article you posted, and I have to say that it tells me cops seem to be crazy psychos that do horrible things to people, just like Asians all take guns to school and shoot their class mates. And yes, let us keep in mind how very unprejudice the Southern part of the US is.
Ferris is very correct. Hollywood portraying cops like this is a very bad thing. I am sure he agrees that cops do bad things, it is just typically Hollywood for them to portray them that way. It would be a lot like them portraying Asians as psychos. Wouldn't be a good thing, even if one is a phycho from time to time. The fact is the VAST majority of cops are good people. What I really found ironic is that you tell a guy who deals with guys who stick their dicks inside the disembodied necks of little girls and say that he live in a candy coated fantasy land.
Let's clarify the candy coated fairlyland comment that ferris blindly made.

Pretty lame and ignorant, do you really think a cop could even think about feeling up a woman on duty and actually get away with it? Number one, I would never consider it, and two, let's not forget about the continued persecution of cops we have come to accept. I mean, can you think of any other job where your every word, movement, and decision will be videotaped, recorded, and documented and then second guessed for years to come? I have been around cops my whole life, and I have yet to hear a single one point race out as a single factor in anything. It is extreme prejudice of the media against police and it is now believed to be fact. Terrible, terrible, assumptions.

Thanks C3PX, you understand, as do many here, and I greatly appreciate it.
ID, I know that these things happen, however, in my experience it is not as blatant, or as common, as they portray it in the movies, especially in Crash. I did like the movie, I thought it was good, but I don't want people walking out of the theater or turning off their DVD thinking that what happened in that movie is hardcore fact. But I can also make that same argument for any career portrayed in any movie, for example it seems that in the movies all store clerks are Indian, as well as all the cabbies, all drug dealers are black, all Jamaicans smoke mary jane, all southerners are portrayed as stupid rednecks who are racists, most New Yorkers are rude and want to con you, and all gays are flaming. Then the Hollywood elites want to try to make a political statement that racism needs to end, seems to me they perpetuate more stereotypes than anyone on earth. Now, I don't mind the story of Crash and its actors were great. But as with all movies, it's story was fiction and should be considered just that, everyone should acknowledge that just about every movie embellish on everything so as to be more dramatic. I am positive there was a time when a cop felt a woman up under her dress, I don't doubt that, but i am pretty sure that unless he had a career death wish or was just nuts it did not occur on a busy daylight covered street with his apprehensive partner staring on and then not saying anything. That is all I was getting at.

Of course we cannot say exactly what would happen in that event, but what I described is a small part of the general theory.
Also who knows what other events the future may bring us? Who could have foreseen this bee thing? I suppose there are other things that could render us without electricity.

It WILL happen unfortunately. Electromagnetic Pulse Bombs are already a fact and, if set off, could render all electronics useless, very scary thought. Imagine being at work when suddenly you hear an explosion and then everything goes out, no lights, no computer, no phones, no modern cars, no nothing. It would make getting home a whole new adventure and you'd be trying to the get there wondering the whole time if your family is okay, because they couldn't tell you except by letter. Very scary to me.

Back to the evil Baldwin and his damnable verbal abuse of his daughter which should land him in jail and is bound to destroy his career (for a couple of months). Even if he was that type, he wouldn't try it after the huge media thing. She is just doing this crap for show. Very over dramatic, but the media and the masses seem to be eating it up.

I think the security is to protect her from the hounding media and psycho people, not Alec. I didn't even know Ireland existed until this whole deal, I'm sure some psycho in a basement will see her and think "She and I are meant to wed". Plus, you know some reporter with an agenda will be trying to get a statement from Ireland directly. So, I can see Kim's reasons.

Yep, ol' Al sure is helping society. His hatred of the whites, the jewish, and pretty much A.O.T.B. (Anybody Other Than Blacks) is unexcusible. I have a few black friends who absolutely hate Sharpten, one told me if their was a way to vote him out he would, but how do you get rid of someone who is self appointed to a position they made up.

Too many people always try to immediately blame the parents for whatever reason. I will admit I do believe that parents can be a contributing factor whether large or small, I'd never say they would be the principle cause unless if the situation called for that, i.e. parents forcing or encouraging son to lie, steal, cheat, murder. For example the parents of Eric Harris and Dylan Kebold (Columbine killers) are not to blame, but they could have been more attentive to the plight of those soon to be killers. I mean, a simple and quick search of Eric Harris' room by his Dad or Mom while he was in school would have turned up a couple of the guns and most of the bombs. But still I don't blame the parents, just wished they had been more attentive. Plus, you have to talk to your kids and learn their moods and get to know their friends. Klebolds parents surely could have seen the signs that Harris' influence was bad on their son if they would have looked, I just don't think they did. Still I don't blame them for what happened, I'm sure they just trusted their children too much, usually the case with kids who go the wrong path.

That was what I thought, but the self defense was considered mute by the judge and prosecuting attorney because they explained that the level of force far exceeded what was necessary. The attorney basically stated, "Black eye and bloody lip for a simple thumped ear. This amount of force used by said 14 year old was excessive and unnecessary in response to minor teasing which could have simply been reported to a teacher at a later time and did not require an immediate reaction by the Defendant."
Now I am usually one for punishment for the well deserving and I rarely choose the side of the defendant, but this one was stupid. When I was in school, I had several fights against bullies and I never got charged criminally or got more than a couple days suspension, usually in school type.
Going back this dumbass Cho, I find to argument that women wouldn't give him attention weak. It is so damn easy these days to get a piece of ass it is ridiculous. I know a many places to go to get a little for free, but that aside he could have gotten some top notch female attention with that $600 he used to buy the glock. Loser.

I have heard plenty of how we need to take a stronger stance against bullying. My thoughts on that are that parents need to come down harder on the school administration when it happens. Having been there (I was bullied) and knowing how the administration works, I'd tell my kid "If he pushes you, hit him". You don't have to win the fight for the bully to leave you alone. The worst that would happen these days is that you'd get expelled (I don't think you'd be expelled for hitting someone though). At best, it's a day or a few days suspension. I think I can live with that, but I won't have to deal with it for a while.
The problem with looking "within" at society is that people are bullied everyday, yet kids aren't going on rampages everyday. I really don't think this was a problem with society. I think he was mentally disturbed (he was in a mental hospital for a while) and needed to be under close supervision.

This is the problem, most schools in my area do not even consider an expulsion for fighting like they used to just 10 or 15 years ago. Kids, and parents, are scared to engage in fighting around here for several reasons with the primary problem being the wretched idea of Zero Tolerance. For example, and this is based on actual events that I encountered, a 14 year old boy is being bullied by a 16 year old boy on a regular basis. One day the 14 year old had enough and when the 16 year old thumped the 14 year olds ear, the 14 year old kid jumps on top of the 16 year old and started to whale on him. Totally took him down and left the 16 year old bully with a busted lip and black eye, no other injuries. Well, the school officials called the police and parents. Charges were filed on the 14 year old for assault while the 16 year old bully was disciplined for simply causing a disturbance and moved to TEAM school for a month, which is a highly monitored and regulated school for the bad apples where they have to wear uniforms and can't talk at all. After being convicted of assault and spending a couple months in a juvenile detention center, the 14 year was made to do 1000 community service hours and attend TEAM school for the remainder of his school career. So in the end, it seems that bullying is encouraged and standing up for yourself is not, bad signal to send.

Our expectations of the biggest western country are much higher than the rest of the world. Elect an idiot into the whitehouse, then go around the world bombing countries and stealing their natural resources to make sure the american dream (lie) doesn't turn into a civil war because you have to pay over $5 for a gallon of fuel?

Plus, if we were "stealing natural resources", which we are not, then why would we be paying $3 a gallon? Seems like we'd be at .50 a gallon with all this stolen crude floating around. Sort of an enigma to me. Anyway, yes, my pal C3PX is right this is hardly the thread for this rhetoric. For a while, I thought eros stupid comment was gonna be ignored and left for the thread history with no response, which would have been cool.
