Speaking of underage sex, I heard this song the other day called "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney. Although I don't usually like newer country songs (Hank Williams Sr. rules!!!) this song hit a note and I found the writing to be great.

Music Video

Lyrics

All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
Got my whole life ahead.
Hell I'm just a kid myself.
How am I gonna raise one.

All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.

Chorus:
And he said,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
Might as well kiss it all good-bye.
There goes my life.......

A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.

Momma's waiting to tuck her in,
As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.

He smiles.....
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you, daddy good-night.
There goes my life.

She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said your good to go.
She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.

And he cried,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you.
Baby good-bye.

There goes my life.
There goes my life.
Baby good-bye.

I saw this video a few weeks back on one of those funny video sites, then my favorite local radio jock, Russ Martin, played it on the air. I agree with rob, although I ain't fruity at all, this video is funny as hell since there was obviously no talent invested and the guy in it is just plain funny.

Sorry to come to this so late, but I just started watching these and they do REALLY rock. I started with episode 1 and I am on 5 now, I cannot believe how awesome this show is! I am in the majority because my favorite character is Hiro. I just got done with the episode where he stops the train and future Hiro encounters Peter in the Subway, when he said "My name is Hiro Nakamura, I'm from the future, I have a message for you." I had goose pimples on my neck, it was just one of those few television/movie moments that really sends my mind spinning in a good way. Anyways, sorry about coming on so late, I had to get that off of my chest and to prevent ruining it for myself, I haven't read too mny posts on this thread, I ought to be caught up with everybody by Friday, hopefully.

My not be directly saying to a fifteen year old, "hey go get pregnant", but it is not all that far from it.

True, true, I agree.

It's not so much that a 15 year-old having kids is considered okay, it's that kids today are encouraged by peers and certain moronical elements of the media to have sex and not give a flip about the consequences.

The media is telling 15 year olds to have sex?

I wouldn't say they are encouraging, but their is little discouragement from certain portions of the media.

I only saw the first one a couple months back after looking over it so many times. Finally, my cousin brought it over and we all watched it and was shacked at how good it was and that it didn't seem to have the big push that Spider-Man does.

I never watched the first movie because I thought it would be a waste of time. But you think it's really good? Is it actually a good movie with a good story and well developed characters or is it just fun too watch? (or both? )

Despite what some others think, I think it was both a good story and it was fun to watch. I can agree with a couple people here that maybe Jessica Alba's performance wasn't stellar and I see where Dr. Doom maybe could have been pulled off better, but all in all, I was very surprised. This could be because I never read the comics and didn't really have any preconceptions about what the story should be. I watched it for the first time only three or four months back and was very surprised at how good it was and wondered why it didn't take as well as some other comic book movies.

Illegal Immigration is hard in Farmers Branch

I live pretty close to Farmers Branch and I am so glad that the anti-immigration ordinances passed by a margin of 68% to 32% last night. LULAC asked for the election, got it, and lost it. Now they are upset that it didn't go their way and have pledged to circumvent the will of the people by taking it before several judges until they find one who is liberal enough to challenge the people's decision of Farmers Branch.

George Lucas calls Spiderman 3 'silly'

Lucas needed to help script-polish Spidey 3. That way when Peter is dumping all that sand out of his boot after his first fight with Sandman, he could say something compelling like "I hate sand. It's rough, and course. And it gets in everything." Then cut to Peter's proposal-date where he says to MJ ... "Unlike here. Where everything is soft. And smooth. I love you Mary Jane Watson. You are in my very soul, tormenting me."

Then when MJ says "I can't believe you shared our kiss with her" have Peter reply with something really deep and moving. Like, "I'm haunted by the kiss that I shouldn't have given. I hope that it doesn't turn into a scar."

Add in some important expository scenes with Venom where he says, "How can you take pictures for the bugle and NOT have a staff position? It's insulting. And Jameson is worse ... he's overly critical ..." *throw an empty film canister* "In most ways ... I'm actually better than Peter Parker. It's all Peter's fault. He's holding me back!!! AND I HATE HIM!!!!!" *quivering lip*

Add in a few floating robots in the background for no reason whatsoever and it won't be so silly.

That's a funny damn post ADigitalMan!

There may be something to that. There isn't a series of checks and balances in his world anymore, nor has there been for quite some time. That's not usually a good thing.

There is something to this, in just about every industry I must add. Look at people in the music industry and compare their newer to the stuff they recorded years ago. For example George Strait, his 80's stuff was, and is, the best example of country music there can ever be. Then fast forward to now when he is a confirmed multi-million dollar earner, sells out every show, and gets anything he wants. He walks into a studio, records crap, and 30 people tell him how great it is because they don't want him hearing any less. It would have been nice if Lucas would have walked into a boardroom full of writers and a top notch director and said "Alright, I want three prequels about the rise of the Empire, the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan, and the creation of Vader" Then he should have walked out and had nothing further to do with the project until he watched it on the night of the premier. I think if that would have happened, we would have had such a great story because all those writers would know the impact they would have, whereas, Lucas just looked at it as an opportunity to show off his super duper digital effects powerhouse.

The Matrix

I saw the first when it was released on DVD, I thought it was pretty good. But, my wife and I both just hate both sequels, they were just terrible to me. I prefer not to aknowledge the existence of the sequels at all. For me, The Matrix will always be regarded as just one movie that came out in 1999 that I liked.

Saw 3 on opening night.

It fucking blew.

Not a good movie.

Heads up, here's the official Dinkins Good/Bad Spiderman 3 breakdown:

The Bad:

Kirsten Dunst's singing. Fucking terrible.

Peter Parker's ridiculous symbiote haircut.

Peter Parker's ridiculous symbiote behavior.

Peter Parker's jazz piano sequence (what the fuck.) Don't stop the jazz hands!

Peter Parker's music video "Point 'n shoot the ladies" sequence.

The fact that the above took up more screen time than all of Venom's appearances combined.

The Goblin's butler. I don't use this very often but "lolz." That segment seemed like a 4th grader's submission as to how to "Make the Goblin a 'good guy'." Didn't he breathe in the crazy evil fart gas? Gimme a break and I'll throw a "nigga please" in there for good measure.

Venom was thin and emaciated looking. Hardly impressive.

Venom's CG. The mouth was so terribly animated when the "costume" spoke.

Every fight scene in the movie was CG, and all organic matter was animated unconvincingly and was rubbery/soft looking. The Goblin using his dumb flying surfboard to shoot fire at a 6 story Sandman, yahahaha. Go fuck yourself.

The movie was 90% CG, and 85% of it blew. Watching this movie 5 or ten years from now (why anyone would do that I have no idea) is going to seem like Special Effect Amateur hour.

The dialogue was consistently awkward - shitloads of lines felt horrendously out of place.

The villains' plotlines were sloppily woven together. Monkeys wrote the script, apparently. Listen, maybe concentrating on one villain and really fleshing out his storyline would've been a better idea, two at most. The villains in this movie were underdeveloped and the conflicts they caused were resolved terribly. They tried to cram way, way too much bullshit into the script, like those fat Hispanic sluts that have giant thighs and huge fat asses yet are somehow under the delusion that they look great in jeans made for good looking girls. Way too much sausage, way too little casing.

Many more.

The Good:

Bruce Campbell's restaurant cameo.

The Willem Dafoe painting, just because I think it would make for an interesting conversation piece hanging in my place.

That's about it.

The Ugly:

We got there late so we had to sit in the front row, the very fucking front row, so the entire time I was loaded and stoned out of my mind while bending my neck so I could see this towering, distorted shitheap of a movie. My time would've been better spent staring at the floor, and it would've been easier on my spine, too.

I had to piss wicked bad for the last 40 minutes of the movie.

The Verdict:

F-

I sense much anger in this one.

OK, I saw it again last night, and I've modified my opinion on this.

1. The movie is gouge out my own eyes boring at times. Especially in the middle.
2. I agree with Chaltab, too many kids making stupid comments.
3. Waaaay too convenient that Venom landed 20 feet away from Peter.
4. God, if someone at the college level did what those idiots in the back of Peter did they'd: a.) Get their asses beat b.) Get kicked out of class
5. Gwenn Stacy was nice to look at but annoying.
6. The whole venom storyline got shortchanged.
7. Venom did not look mean enough at times (though I thought Topher Grace played it well).
8. Emo Peter went on too long. I'd rather get waterboarded than go through that jazz club scene again.
9. The "reporter" at the end just, again, makes me want to rip my ears off. Her accent was terrible. Sounded like Jude Law, which means she sounds like she just crawled out of a gutter in the rankest part of downtown London.
10. No exposition about Venom or why the sound waves work. Comics fans know why, but the average person doesn't.
11. Kirsten Dunst's acting.
12. Kirsten Dunst's acting.
13. Kirsten Dunst's acting.
14. Kirsten Dunst's acting.
15. Kirsten Dunst's acting.

Now that you mention it, I do remember sitting in the theater and thinking how unconvincing she was. I will even go out on a limb and say that I don't think she all that attractive neither, my wife disagrees with me, but I still think she is sort of a on the bottom level of being okay. But that's just me a guess, because lots of guys fawn over her.

Who considers that to be "okay?"

Perhaps "okay" may not have been the best word, but come on, you have to admit while the former gets movies made about them making fun of them, and generally get laughed at and called loosers. The later is met with sympathy, and even at times with heroic admiration. While she may be met with pity by some and even contempt, who makes fun of her? And laughs at the very idea of a single 25 year old with 4 kids? Even a 20 year old virgin is often afraid to admit it out of fear of being made fun of.

I went out on a call the other night where a pregnant 16 year old girl was fighting with the father of her 2 year old kid because he didn't want his kid around the other guys kid that she was about to give birth to. Of course it was all over the phone and he was in Bryan, TX so I couldn't talk to him. It's a shame.

I've always thought they usually live longer. But yeah, 69 is young and I remember listening to Monster Mash one time when I was a kid, we were going down the road and I was laying across the back dash of my Dad's car, times sure have changed a lot.

I've always thought they usually live about the same length as the rest of us, provided drugs are not involved.

Ferris, your dad was a cop and he let you lie across the back dashbord without a seat belt?? My faith in law enforcment is shattered!!

Wrath of Vader, yeah that is very unique they ought to run with that. But I just still don't see what else they could run with in a sequel. Tarkin is dead and the space station is destroyed, Vader flew into space without any hope. I've already seen this movie 12 times since it was released (I've had to kick my lawn mowing service into overdrive to get the money) whenever Han took his ship out of light speed where Alderaan should have been and they found that lone tie fighter, one of them commented about how that tie fighter could not survive that far in space alone. So how would Vader make it all by his lonesome out there with no place to go.

With the rate technology is currently advancing i ask if its really worth being at the cutting edge of technology at this given time?

Versus what? Don't buy any movies or a new tv for 10 or 20 years? Do you somehow think that gigantic image is going to be on an affordable medium within 5 years? Even if most people sit out the hi-def format wars, there's always "the next format".

Is it worth being at the cutting edge? Probably not. Is it worth not buying into any hi-def formats ever until the largest image you posted becomes available? Probably not. Will the hi-def formats be worthwhile this Christmas season or possibly next? Probably. Unfortunately, even though the technology is advancing at breakneck speeds, the media companies are doing a fine job of holding everything back.

Dammit, and I just bought a 62" Toshiba DLP HDTV 1080p television. If I'd known I could have waited 10 or 15 years and had that.......
