*He's not bribing me, guys. ;) We found out we have common interests musically and he's sharing some tunes from a friend of his.

Oh, no sorry, didn't mean to inject that possible inference from my comment.

I just apprentice fellas who love good country and bluegrass music, like my pal Ripplin!

Plus, when you have a box of the same 100 CD's, it's not hard to let a guy have a listen now and then.

I didn't even remember writing that, but I soooo agree with it 100%! Of course, there are other 3PX posts I'll stumble... (whoa, 3PX, that sounds nice! Why didn't I use that for my new screen name?) upon and think "what a dumb ass".

I dunno why, but I'd forgotten about this whole thread. I even posted in it!

What happened to ABC?

Well, technically it was a combination of traditional and CG animation (the Giant was CG), but that was pretty commonplace by that point as every Disney movie including and after The Great Mouse Detective did that too. But anyway, yes, Iron Giant rules.

"Hey man, we're in downtown Coolsville! Population: US!"

I honestly did not know that. Thanks! They pulled it off very well, fooled me. I didn't know there was other Iron Giant fans here. Good to know!

Also The Iron Giant is one of the best animated movies ever made by anyone, ever.

I am SOOO glad you mentioned The Iron Giant, that is one of the best animated movies ever and it was REAL animation. I loved that one so much I recorded it in HD on my DVR and then locked it in. Need to show it my daughter (almost 3 years now) I'd bet she'll love it.

Here's my take on Pixar films:

Toy Story = I absolutely loved it. I was 16 when it came out and caught it later on home video, it was a great experience and memory. My daughter watches it incessantly, but I still like it. She calls this one "Andy's Room". 10/10

A Bug's Life = I'm not sure I even remember this movie, that's just how boring it was. I forgot it the moment I saw it. I actually liked it's rival better, Antz. 2/10

Toy Story 2 = By this point in my life, I was very nervous about the prospect of sequels to great movies, but I loved this one just as much as the first. This one is my daughters favorite because she loves Jessie. She calls this one "Woody Round-Up". 10/10

Monsters, Inc = I really enjoyed this one, I felt that John Goodman and Billy Crystal were superb in their parts and was even able to seemingly have "chemistry" in even animated form. I'd like to see those guys do a real movie together. Also, Jame Coburn was wonderful as well Steve Buscemi. I highly enjoyed the story line and the fun. 8/10

Finding Nemo = Was very very bored by this one. Fish floating around in water doesn't seem to much for me. 2/10

The Incredibles = Loved it! I loved the story, the idea of a family of supers, how the rejected kid ended up being the adult villain. 9/10

Cars = It was enjoyable, but not that engaging to me, I also hate Larry the Cable guy and his over the top idiotic hillbilly voice. 3/10

Ratatouille = I really enjoyed this one also, the story was engaging and the plot felt smooth and "natural". 9/10

WALL-E = I really enjoyed this movie as well, I liked the characters and the storyline. To me, this one had a heavy in your face political agenda, but then another underlying political aspect to it. The first being that corporations take over and we pretty much destroy our earth, the latter being that relying on "the machine" for everything in your life is not freedom and you have to break free from that and be self-reliant. By the end, it seemed more an ode against the nanny state and crony capitalism than an anti-consumerism/pro-environmentalism movie. Sorry to muck up the thread with political talk, but that's how I feel about this one. 8/10

UP = The beginning is the gem, then when they meet the talking dogs, I'm lose interest pretty quick that I turn the channel the moment they meet Charles Muntz. 3/10

Toy Story 3 = I loved this movie just as much as the prior Toy Stories. By this one, I was very concerned with the characters and their fate. The ending was very sweet and I felt extremely poignant. By this point, we had seen these characters develop over 15 years in many types of media. I was invested and felt very sad as well as happy when the credits rolled. My daughter calls this one "Sunnyside Daycare" and she dances like a raving mad fool when Spanish Buzz dances with Jessie at the end to the Spanish version of "You've Got a Friend In Me". Perhaps it is the Mexican in her that she inherited from my side of the family. 10/10

I think I just liked it because of the first 15 minutes and how they establish everything so well while also invoking real emotion which I rarely see in movies.

I won't disagree with you at all, the whole 15 mins where they establish the love affair and marriage between him and her was very touching and emotional. One can't help but watch it and imagine their own lives in small segments like that. A very good presentation and use of animation to tell the entire lives of two people in a few minutes. But after that, the whole movie sort of lost me.

(I also had to pee near the end)

The app "RunPee" from runpee.com is the best app I've downloaded for watching movies at that theater. It tells you the best times to go pee without missing any important plot points. Even has a timer you can start just the studio logo of any movie begins and your phone will vibrate when it reaches a point where you can run off to the toilets. I've used it regularly at every theater venture my wife and I have taken the last year, made a good experience better. Sorry, to shill so hard for a stupid Android/iPhone app, but this one really works.

BTW, it also tells you if anything is after the end credits for every movie, so you don't waste your time at that end.

That would be great, except that the women weren't actually in black and white, and myself being part Jewish I don't know how that would fly. ;-P

It isn't just the black and white, I love their style, their grace, their ability to be sexy while not slutty (modern women seem to have lost this talent). I love the dresses, the music, the cars, the pretty much innocuous federal government.....I could on and on about how much I love this era.

I'm really surprised how many of you like South Park!

RESPECT MA AUTHORITA!

I've always loved South Park and it's very quirky humor. I also LOVE that nobody is safe and I appreciate that Matt and Trey are equal opportunity offenders.

There never seems to any hidden agenda other than pure comedy, I respect that.

I might've taken your critique of Super 8 more seriously, but the fact that you gave Dumb & Dumber 8/10, my anticipation is stronger than ever.

C'mon man! Dumb & Dumber was one of the best comedies of the 90's!

Pretty bird. Yes, can you say pretty bird? Pretty bird, yeah pretty bird... Polly want a cracker?

I think Cars is the worst. I don't mind Up but I've only seen it once. My favourite is probably WALL·E, especially the first half where there is virtually no dialogue. Maybe the first Toy Story. Nemo is the most overrated.

Yeah, Cars was pretty forgettable. WALL-E was pretty good, I still enjoy it. Nemo wasn't that great to me either.

Actually a fantastic film.

9/10 ball-oons (Tee-hee I'm clever)

I disagree. It's one of my least favorite Pixar films.

I agree, I really lost interest in the plot the moment the house landed and the talking dogs arrived. On the other hand, I love all of the Toy Story's and especially The Incredibles.

I think he was funnier when he was:

And he's more annoying as:

His voice used to be one of the things that attracted me to the show.

South Park isn't near as funny as it used to be, but it deserves to stay on more than one trick pony Family Guy.

I'm sorry, I keep hearing folks gripe about Cartman's voice changing, but I'm not detecting it. Sounds to me like they just got better recording equipment and the "newer" voice is the more truer voice. I dunno though, like I said, I don't hear much difference.

Did you see the last episode Ferris? There is a scene where two of the characters are talking (about their relationship) and everything they say (the excitement is gone, same ol' thing every week, it just isn't fun anymore, etc.) gives you the distinct impression that it is Matt & Trey talking about the show.

I heard their contract with Comedy Central is up after this season. I kind of hope they keep the show going, but on their own time. Any time they get a good idea for an episode, they could make it and distribute it on their website. I think there are plenty of good ideas left in them, and in this way they are free from both obligation and censorship. Even if we only ended up with an episode or two a year, I think this would be a great way for them to continue the show without being obligated to spit out a mediocre episode when they don't have anything to say.

As a matter of fact I did see that one (DVR every new episode) and I know exactly what you're talking about. I got the very same impression as you.

Your idea is awesome, I'd love to get the occasional treat and the regular dud.

Plus, those guys are riding really high right now on Broadway with their Mormon play, I think they are looking forward to giving up on South Park for the time being. But, I absolutely don't think they can let it go completely, they've invested damn near two decades into the characters and plot-lines.
