Muxing up Movie quotes

Han: "I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk"

Greedo: "I gots to know."

X-Men

X2: X-Men United

X-Men: The Last Stand

Got the blu-ray box set at great price used, so did the trilogy back to back tonight with my roommate.

Part 3 was such a let down. It had good moments, but... Oh forget it!

It was utter crap.  That was the mutant vs. human war? And what was with the sudden day to night time change thing in the final act? Was something major cut?  Why the heck did they kill all the great characters off (or take away their power) before the final battle???  The end could have been filled with such great emotion, but it was pissed away. We got a lame final battle with a bunch of  B-class mutants that we have no emotional connection to at all. Juggernaut's helmet looked so fake and plastic. The actor was weak. The first scene of the X-men fighting the sentinel had such promises, but disappointed quickly with the reveal that it was just a Star Trek holodeck rip off simulation. The casting of Beast was the only thing done with any shred of creative thinking, and or any shred of respect in keeping faithful with the original source material.

I agree with everything you said. It is truly amazing how much taking out one person (Bryan Singer) can do to a whole franchise. I hated how they killed off all the characters I liked the best and whom I felt had the most compelling plots. Prof X has always been my favorite, going as far back as the cartoons. Which is one of the reasons I really enjoyed First Class, I got to see Prof X in his younger days and I really enjoyed that. I hope that Singer follows up with another one.

EDIT: Also, Kelsey Grammer as Beast was a perfect casting decision the only diamond in the rough in that horrible atrocity of a movie. I wish that he had been cast way earlier in the franchise, I would have liked to see more of him. I also hated they "wrote out" Nightcrawler, he was awesome in X2.

I enjoyed the new X-Men tonight on my date with the missus. Really good characters and such, though like others, I'm not too certain about the casting. Magneto, Prof X, and Beast were pretty good, IMHO, but the others in the first class seemed out of place or lacking the necessary "charisma" for a comic book movie. Kevin Bacon, whom I consider a good actor, never really felt the part to me. I would've liked to see Christoph Waltz in that part, he would have been spectacular.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie and will probably watch it again. Though, I dunno if it has the repeatability of the original X-Men movie.

BTW, X-Men was just pure awesomeness, X-Men II was fairly good to me, and X-Men: Last Stand was pure utter garbage and I want to scoop out with a fork the part of my brain that remembers that atrocity.

Editing the sound effects in, while technically feasible, would be way too much effort for the payoff IMO.  Because the original audio also has music in it, I can't use it.  Best I could do is throw in discrete effects from something like Brash's sound archive, but the thought of doing that for even a brief clip is not pleasant.

That would be great!

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, I know nothing of video editing and such.

I love the stupid music during the battle between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul. If you edit back in the sound effects, maybe even a couple of extra Wilhelm screams also, with that music ALWAYS playing in the background during their fight, that would be funnier than s**t, to me at least.

Regarding OTB: I'm well aware of the food's mediocrity.  I lived in Corpus Christi (great combo of Mexican and Seafood) and my current local has good Mexican food as well.  But for some reason, the sour cream chicken burrito I had the first time I was there was something special, and I kept going back for more.

Also, I just checked their website and it doesn't look like they have it anymore anyway. :-(

Where you at now?

RIP Taco Cabana.

Well, what I mean is that I don't live near one anymore.

:(

We were in Dallas last fall and ended up visiting my Sister-in-Law and family before we flew home.  When she was driving us back to the airport, we insisted on lunching at Taco Cabana.  She didn't understand the appeal since she could have lunch there any day of the week and never does.

There is very good reason for that, you cannot throw a rock in Texas without hitting a Taco Cabana. They're okay, but we Texans (espcially those like me with deep Mexican/Texican heritage) just find it to be another Mexican fast food place akin to Taco Bell.

I have/get the same reaction when I see an On The Border, which I no longer live near (but you do!).  It's just a run-of-the-mill chain Mexican restaurant, but there is something about their sour cream chicken burrito that just...

Um...

brb

Same goes for OTB, it is just so plain and generic that most folks I know despise it. Now, everyone I know praises their drink making abilities, but hardly anyone goes there for food.

I reckon we have a very particular taste for certain Mexican food, we have down home genuine Mexican food eateries that most of us prefer, I know I do.

I'll throw some out.

When in Corsicana, Texas; eat at Old Mexican Inn and be sure to the mix the orange dip with the salsa. Don't forget the Margarita.

When in Waco; eat at Ninfa's and get the crawfish enchiladas with a Ninfa-rita.

In Fort Worth you have several options, you cannot go wrong with Pappasito's, Uncle Julio's, or Mercardo Juarez.

When I lived in Texas for a short while I discovered Whataburger.  It's kind of meh, but there's nothing like going up to the counter and asking for a Whataburger...

...unless it's going up to the counter and asking for a Whatachicken.

Yeah Whataburger's a huge down here, I got really burned our them because they are one of the very few places to eat at 3:30 a.m., so as a result of my job, I've eat there A LOT.

A few years years ago they had the absolute best fajita wraps, but they discontinued them. I miss those things.

White Castles are unique. They're gross...

IGNORE!!!

Also...

I just hate they ain't in Texas yet. I first discovered White Castle from the movie, then that very same year my wife and I took our honeymoon to Nashville and I had my first there. Been hooked ever since. On our couple trips back to Nashville, I devoured the little suckers and I've bought regulalrly the frozen ones at least once a month. However, the saving grace I've got now is that Krystal Burger has opened up very close, they are pretty close to White Castle, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Explain Your Username / Avatar / Title / Signature
Time

Username: The first part "Ferris" is the name of the city where I first worked as a Police Officer, the second part "209" was my first badge number in that same city.

Avatar: I LOVE Columbo, so much so that I am currently building an actual 12" figure of him. I can't get enough of Peter Falk in that show, always cracked me up. Ironically, one can actually use some of his methods in real police work.

Title: Pretty obvious, I'm an original Texan (family has been here since the 1720's, as I've heard my elders say; we didn't come to America, it came to us) and a Star Wars freak. So, naturally I'm a Lone Star Jedi.

Signature: Lays out my political beliefs and associations. I generally do not post with my signature except in the Politics thread.
