Also, not sure if Ady has answered this, but is the Imperial March being kept in the Death Star reveal, given the full march treatment of the Death Star theme in Rogue One?
I am wondering this myself. I almost feel as though “The Imperial March” should NOT be in A New Hope, perhaps with the only exception being when Vader is on the screen — the theme has been closely tied with Vader and his leadership of the fleet.
However, after Rogue One, they chose to embrace the classic Death Star 1 theme (dun, dun dun dun!) and also introduced “The Imperial Suite,” which almost seems more like an appropriate theme for the Empire in the time of Tarkin.
I would personally like to see The Imperial Suite in ANH:R HD, and keep The Imperial March out of it (with the exception, perhaps, being when Vader makes a move — maybe the lightsaber battle with Obi-Wan or when Vader hops into his TIE fighter).

I was a kid when it came out, and I remember debating with friends that he was his father. I believed it because of Owen’s line about being afraid Luke had too much of his father in him. But there were a lot of kids you couldn’t accept it.
I’ve watched it twice but just can not find it for the life of me. But if you can find that vid on youtube about what was originally planned and what could have been, it’s really interesting. He put together a lot of info from old magazine interviews and the letters sent out to members from that old 80’s Star Wars official Fan Club.

Now that you mention it, I think I had heard or read somewhere a number of years back about the same thing with GL stating 3 years had transpired between each movie which lines up with the actual time between the movies themselves releasing and probably why I misread the BBY/ABY times as I already had a preconception of the time frames.
In regards to your second post, I believe Yoda only said it in that fashion to try and impress upon Luke how unready he is to face Vader at that time.
Where in ROTJ Yoda knows he is ready now or as ready as he’ll ever be in the time they have left to defeat the Empire before all is lost, so he essentially gives the confrontation his blessing but knows as well that it will be the biggest challenge Luke will have ever faced and if he comes out of it alive and still on the light side, then he will have mastered control of his mind and emotions in the face of that massive adversity and facing the Emperor and his father of all people, essentially proving his worth to take the title of Jedi Knight (not Master mind you, but the first level of “Jedi-hood”) regardless of the time it would take under more normal circumstances and the fact that he will be the last of their kind and so needs Luke to become a Jedi to keep the flame of their order alive and pass on what he has learned. He could not do that if Yoda told him he hasn’t met the prerequisite 25 years of constant training under another Jedi and that there’s no one else left to teach him now anyway 😉

Getting off topic so I PMed a reply.
Originally, GL himself said the timespan was three years between each movie. Then, when Secrets of the Empire came out, the time between Empire & Jedi was changed to one year.
That always bothered me, as Yoda told Luke he had to stay with him to complete his training. Then Luke went off on his own and was able to do 25 years worth of Jedi training (Obi-Wan was knighted as a Jedi Knight at 25) in one year all by himself. He also tells Luke that only a fully trained Jedi can face off with Vader, then tells him in Jedi he has to confront Vader to be a Jedi Knight. I know it’s all because when Empire came out the plan was to do 6 or 9 movies, and then Lucas had to wrap it all up in one move.
There’s a great video on Youtube where a guy tracks down all the old articles about Star Wars being a 9 or 12 movie run. There are quotes with Lucas and Gary Kurtz talking about Luke’s sister being a completely different person on the other side of the galaxy. She was to get her own trilogy and then Luke and his newfound sister would team up to fight the Emperor. There was also talk of Luke killing Vader and taking his place, and his sister would bring him back to the light side. It’s a very interesting video if you can track it down.
Ah yes, you’re all correct actually. I misread an article listing all BBY/ABY for each movie, re-checking it I can see now it is indeed 1 year between TESB and ROTJ (just based on the BBY):

3 ABY - TESB
4 ABY - ROTJSo yeah, 3-4 years is getting a bit into the realm of an unbelievable time frame. Not impossible but definitely hard to believe by our standards even in a fictional universe as it still draws understanding from parallels and familiarity to ours.
In saying that, it’s still never bothered me personally as I never knew till looking at that article what the time lapses / jumps actually were and both sequels in the OT make you feel like a sufficient amount of time has passed to account for what has changed with our characters and the story.

I too got a kick out of noticing the Battle Droid in the sandcrawler. I figure those little buggers were everywhere during the clone Wars, not a stretch that one would end up on Tatooine. I hate to see him go.

Scarif is not the planet where the Death Star was built.
Why would the Death Star go back to where it was built? Tarkin’s roundtable meeting is like two days after the battle of Sharif.
A possible fix-
Vader has Luke’s lightsaber in his hand when he’s looking around for Luke under the Emperor’s dais.
And just to reiterate my suggestion about adding obstacles or consoles under the dais, as there is really no place for Luke to hide.
Read an older post, are you getting rid of the shot with the numerous Tie Fighters swooping in? I hope not, I think that’s a great addition. I like that this edit is the definitive Special Edition. If someone doesn’t like the enhanced FX, they have the Despecialized edits.

I was watching Harmy’s Despecialized Star Wars, and noticed how much Luke and Leia’s echo in the chasm really boomed with the surround sound. I usually watch Revisted, as that is my definitive version of the film, and didn’t remember that. Comparing the echo to both Despecialized and Silver Screen editions, it seems Revisited’s echo is hushed. Was that a deliberate choice, or something that can be reevaluated with the 720p edit?
I used the 2004 mix as a basis. The echo effect was altered a few times in previous mixes and they went with a more natural one for the SE. I won’t be altering that for the HD version as i will be using the DTS 6.1 track from the blu-rays
Adywan just a minor question is this coming out this year or next year same question for return of the jedi revisited as well. I know your busy with it just curious that’s all.

Each official audio mix does the echo in the chasm very differently, too. Adywan’s is a heavily modified version of the 2004 DVD mix, so it’s likely that the echo in Revisited is similar to that.
The original mixes (especially the mono mix) had more of an exaggerated echo effect, while the 1997/2004/2011 mixes have more of a natural effect, to my memory. But I could be mistaken, and Ady might have actually taken the echo effects from a different mix that the 2004. I’d have to compare all the different mixes to be sure which his is closest to.
