Look who is coming back in the HD version of ANH:R…

Using a mixture of the 4k77 release and the official blu-ray, along with addition restoration i did to the 4k77, removing all remaining film damage, Wolfman has now been restored back in the 2 shots they replaced him in the SE’s

And I went ahead and threw away Lak Sivrak’s action figure after he was no longer canon.

I just had this thought when I was watching ANH:R last night. I understand that you are going to be changing some things between the current form of ANH:R and what will become ANH:R HD. Now what follows isn’t supposed to be inflammatory it was just a thought that I found interesting.

Would you consider the fact that you are tweaking with your version of ANH:R to be almost akin to the way Lucas tweaked with the standard ANH. We’re coming upon the same dilemma where the original ANH:R will not be available in an HD format, just like the OUT is not available in HD formats. You changed your mind about some decisions that were made and want this new HD version to be the definitive version of the films, yet there are people (like me) that would just like to see the current ANH:R but in HD.

I’m not sure this equates completely, but I feel like you could understand Lucas’s mindset on why the Special Editions exist in the first place. I also recall a popular argument for why the Special Editions are bad is because they supersede the Original Versions. That same thing is now going to happen with ANH:R. I’m not trying to be accusatory, I just thought this was something as a community that we could discuss.

What is Adywan tweaking in the ANH:R HD version that you don’t think you’ll like?

I apologise in advanced if this has been discussed…or there is some drama I don’t know about…

Is adywan using the TeamNegative 1 4K version for any of the shots now it has been released? I know he is using the BluRay as the basis of this edit.

Matt

I think he had mentioned something about how problematic it is to render FX in 4K.

Was Finn originally going to be a Jedi too?

He got his ass handed to him by a stormtrooper with a crowd-control staff. If Lando was in a gunfight, you wouldn’t take away his blaster and give him a lightsaber. For some reason Maz had faith Finn could use the Jedi weapon, or she’s got a weird sense of humor.

I don’t get why this is a problem. Finn could use the saber but he was not as skiled as that stormtrooper or Kylo, that much is clear. This all makes sense.

Would this make you happier?

Finn “I need a weapon”
Maz “Ok, hang on, ill find you a blaster. There’s one around here somewhere.”

If you remember, just five minutes before the First Order showed up, Han gave Finn a blaster and he accepted it. I’m not disappointed that Finn used the lightsaber, I just think JJ originally had some kind of Jedi path planned for Finn, and Maz’s intuition that he could use the saber was a hint at it.

I don’t see what the problem is. Finn, like that stormtrooper he faces in TFA, has hand to hand combat training, that staff that the stormtrooper uses is like a lightsaber, I don’t see anything wrong with him being able to use it. Its not like hes deflecting blaster bolts with it.

Or you could just… You know… Use it like a sword in close combat.

Unless you’re suggesting everyone in medieval times was force sensitive. In which case I’m listening.

Most every knight was trained to use a sword before going into battle or they didn’t last long. Moreover, they didn’t go up against an enemy with semi-automatic carbines.

Drop mic.

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

At last, my antiquated flat screen bit the dust this week and I was finally free to purchase a new 4K Television. First thing I did was use DVDFab to up-convert Star Wars:Revisited and Empire Strikes Back: Revisited to 4K. I don’t know how much difference that actually made, but both movies look gorgeous on the 65’ screen. The one thing that stood out most to me on this television were the detailed reflections off C-3P0’s gold plating that I’d never noticed before.

Man, that was a great line that has been absolutely ruined by everyone running it into the ground.

And I thought I was being clever.

Maybe way back in 2017…

Ah, back when I looked forward to Last Jedi.
Those were the days.
