I have the workprint and the X rated cut VHS rips tho I am afraid
I have the workprint and the X rated cut VHS rips tho I am afraid
I checked this mix in another thread I am sure and the info is identical to the HD-DVD and LD mixes
It's as close as it gets to the theatrical as all dvds and blus are crap
Yes, that was struck from a theatrical print and then THX ruined it as always

I wonder if I should look at my Japan DTS Quadrilogy set to see if it has any different look.
I am sure I checked, the LD is the only disc that comes close

I've always wondered if the BD transfer has the same colour timing as the THX LD in all honesty
Dear god no! the THX disc has many faults but it was struck from an ENR print, the BD is a mess as it was derived from a regular 35mm HDTV scan and looks like a mess.
I am afraid they this will be exactly the same guys.
It will never look right unless they digitally recreate the ENR process, or scan an ENR print at 4k.
This is on the list of my Silver Retention heartbreaks, this is my film love and my specialist subject kinda.
Also the sound on disc is not the theatrical version.
Tons of extras also
The teal push to the yellow seals that it is modern revisionism

I follow only this forum daily, but sometimes I visit some others to understand the point of view of the "outsiders" (read: the ones who doesn't even know what a fan preservation project is); lately, on an italian AV forum (maybe the most important one) I read the following:
Dettagli sul restauro de "Il Buono, il Brutto e il Cattivo"
Il restauro è stato fatto dal laboratorio "L'Immagine Ritrovata" della cineteca di Bologna in 4K. Per il colore hanno usato una o due copie Technicolor dell'epoca come riferimento e hanno consultato l'assistente cameraman Sergio Salvati: è stato lui a insistere per la correzione colore virata al giallo, sostenendo che quello fosse il modo in cui Leone lo aveva voluto e pensato.translation:
Details on the restoration of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
The restoration was done by the workshop "L'immagine Ritrovata" Cinematheque of Bologna in 4K. For the color they used one or two Technicolor copies of the era as a reference and they have consulted the assistant cameraman Sergio Salvati: he was the one who insisted on correcting color faded to yellow, arguing that this was the way in which Leone had wanted and thought.Well, this is what HE said... but, is it the truth? Maybe he lie, or he remembers wrong things, or who knows... at the end, one man decided that THIS color grading is the right one, and he's not even the director or the director of photography... next time, maybe they will ask the girl next door... (^^,)
What he is selling, buying it I am not
Damn that BD of The Mummy is a mess! http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/multi_comparison.php?art=magnify&x=561&y=327&action=1&image=3&hd_multiID=1728&cap1=39075&cap2=39065&disc1=4196&disc2=4195&lossless=1#vergleich

They're both going to be "4k" remasters.
They are both mastered in 4k but that does not mean GB2 had a new master, the old one could have been 4k.
Unlikely but I never trust studio PR

The positioning of Slimer behind the spook is rather unfortunate. ;)
I hope GBII will be available on it's own.
It is, 25th aniversary edition!
I bet the GB2 has the HDTV master that was struck at the same time as GB, it has the same blown out contrast issues

I wonder if Stephen Sommers had any say in the matter?
Does anyone listen to him? Like if he directs in a forest does anyone care?

Looks like I'll be upgrading to the 4K, shame they can't do the same for Ghostbusters 2...what gives?
Bump!
Has deleted scenes also! (Fan edit time!)

stick with the italian bd. it's overall the better source in terms of video quality.
against it is the lack of the english audio and italian on-screen-text.
I say there is a little more detail in the new disc personally
LOL wut
Got most of the yellow out pretty quickly, think it would be a good stating point for a restoration as it is lacking DNR
Anyone for mime ping pong?
Yep CGI set extensions and space battles, I think all he can do practical he will
As long as they hire Laser Pacific and not Reliance I will be happy
I don't buy it, but it would be nice
the studio are planning to re-release A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi on DVD/Blu-Ray/On Demand in their original form, without all the things George Lucas changed for the “Special Edition” releases back in 2004.
And if it looks HD or not please :)
