Video Games - a general discussion thread

Halo 5 will not have split-screen. I'm super disappointed. My wife and I have played every Halo game at least once together, the fact that they'd throw that away breaks my heart.

I mean, I was already disappointed enough in Halo 4 that I wasn't planning on getting Halo 5 and changed my preorder to Battlefront as soon as it was announced. But Battlefront having split-screen and Halo not really seals the deal.

*insert joke about split-screening my wife*

All Things Star Trek

That's Gabriel Köerner's concept for a reboot Enterprise, which 90% of websites will use thinking its the JJprise.

In other news:

http://trekmovie.com/2015/06/18/paramount-acquires-startrekbeyond-com-invites-star-trek-beyond-fan-creator-to-pitch-tv-series/

I don't believe this for a second. Guy happens to own domain Paramount wants, so Paramount (who doesn't have the rights to Star Trek on television) wants to hear his pitch. Either this isn't true at all and the guy is capitalizing on the fact that we all know the name of his concept he bought a domain for but never actually made anything, or he had the opportunity to make thousands of dollars for a domain Paramount needs and he threw it away to pitch to people who have no power to do anything with said pitch.

Besides, if this guy gets a pitch based on owning a domain name, what about the people who have a history with Star Trek (Robert Meyer Burnett, Michael Dorn, etc.) who have pitches who are being ignored by the studio?

The new Star Wars comics - a general discussion thread

I wonder why people even bother buying individual issues anymore. You rarely get done-in-one stories in mainstream comics anymore, so you're stuck having to wait months to read a single story that you could probably get through in an hour if you had the whole thing at hand.
I subscribe so I can talk about them each month (or whenever they end up coming out) with you fine people.

Episode IV: A Ridiculous Hope

In the detention area, Luke could open the wrong cell door. So instead of finding Leia, there is someone else inside, maybe a particularly silly alien from some low-budget science fiction movie. Then Luke just closes the door, maybe he also says "oops" like his father used to when he was young. Repeat this as often as necessary.
This is an idea I approve of whole-heartedly. Don't keep it low-budget, throw everything into it. Alien, Predator, Roger Rabbit...

Speaking of, Roger Christian gives a short intro before the film on the Youtube version. He says there'll be a special announcement about Black Angel on June 2. But what kind of announcement could that be? I'm hoping for a feature length version. But there are a number of cool possibilities.

Roger talks about it on The Projection Booth, and yes, you are absolutely right.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Listening to The Projection Booth's super-sized episode on Star Wars, and during their interview with ANH Set Decorator Roger Christian, he says "[There were] a lot of discussions over how dark the [Death Star] walls should be. John [Barry, set designer] wanted them really black, but the lighting camera couldn't cope with it being so dark, so they got stage by stage, they got lighter and lighter so it reached a compromise, in effect."

Just pointing out that the set designer wanted the Death Star to be black and white.

I honestly think you guys are making mountains of molehills. I think the shot was setup in a way so that the front engine wasn't in the shot but was still physically there.
Also, I imagine if we look hard enough we can find a ton of shots where the camera is behind the fourth wall and therefore the shot shouldn't exist, so why not have an invisible engine?
