I guess no one here went to the marathon leading up to TFA last December to see which versions were being run?
My friend (who’s a projectionist) did. He says the DCP’s are sourced from the 2011 Blu’s, except for TPM, which was a 2D folddown of the 3D version. He also said they look like garbage, and this guy is ALL ABOUT “director’s intent”.
Every time a Drafthouse answers “what version” on Twitter, they say specifically “1997”. Knowing how crazy they are, I’m sure they got film prints, which intrigues me.

I’ve never come across people like this in the real world, but online? Most certainly.
I know very few people in real life that want to discuss anything related to Star Wars.
Yesterday I walked back into my work area and one of my coworkers was saying he’d just seen TFA. My other coworkers saw me coming and said “Oh, there’s Drew, he can talk to you about Star Wars.” “I don’t need to talk about it in that much detail though,” he replied.
I’m known, and a few of my coworkers at least care about Star Wars a little.

I feel like Fox is going to get as much as they can out of the movies before the full rights revert to Disney.

Alamo Drafthouse knows what they’re doing, so it’d be a lot of fun. It is a bummer it’ll be the SE of some sort.

O. J. used to be a professional NFL player.
I honestly forget about that. And he was becoming a movie star. I forgot when people were famous for actual reasons, unlike some people who are featured maybe a bit too heavily on this miniseries?
I always assumed you saw Star Wars in theatres.
Thanks? I did see the SE in theaters opening day. Got interviewed on a Knoxville radio station for “not even being a zygote when the original came out”.

It was easier to remove the ONE instance of red lights on ONE walker than it was to add red lights to every walker in every shot. It’s not rocket science, people!

If it IS the 97 SE on film (which the articles say its the 97 SE, but what do they know), that might be interesting for Respecialized and color grading projects.
And its put on by Alamo, not at their theaters.

I remember being at work and getting called into the conference room to see the verdict read.
Now that’s very interesting. I wonder why the entire nation was so interested in this case, was it just the constant news coverage that forced it to become important? Was everyone really that concerned about race, like it showed on the series?
I was too young at the time. All I remember is that the highway chase interrupted TGIF, which was the only TV I was allowed to watch back then.

I’ll play with you, Warb!
My wife and I enjoyed the series very much. I only knew a little about the trial, my wife even less, so it was educational and somewhat entertaining. I’d say if anyone was on the fence about it for any reason, let me push you over to have you watch it.

I bought the iTunes copy when it came out, figured if they release a 3D version later this year I’d pick that up. I’m all for having the IMAX scene in a more full ratio, and this is what happened with Into Darkness.

Altered color palette, I cleaned up some of TN1’s shots to replace GOUT shots, Catbus provided improved greedo subs and Hindi, Ukrainian, Russian, Navajo, and Thai audio dubs. Darth Lucas rotoscoped the saber in Ben’s hut from 35mm.
Thanks towne! My friend and I will be watching 2.5 this weekend, which will be still great!

My mom texted me her review:
My Mom said:
Fun, but just like E4 only guy’s/girl’s roles reversed
R2 was cute, Luke the same whiny character, “this guy won’t listen to me, I’m not going to play anymore. I’ll just move to this island and pout”
Liked it though and will watch others as they unfold too.
I think she meant BB-8 was cute, but she’s not wrong about Luke.

But that fight will be between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and therefore we know that Vader did not “betray and murder” Luke’s father, as Obi-Wan tells him later. So tim’s right, the whole fight would have to be removed.
No, that lightsaber duel was the best of the entire saga.
oh, it really wasn’t . All flash and no substance
I don’t mean any disrespect. I’m just asking out of curiosity:
Isn’t more ships added to the space battle and pasted shots of Yavin in the background of “A New Hope” also kinda all flash and no substance? They weren’t exactly the main focus of the battle scene.
Again, just asking out of curiosity. If my question offends you, I’m sorry.
Bringing more depth to space battles is hardly flash. It’s logically consistent with how a space battle might look.

I want to see the 501st threads pouring over the screencaps to critique the Stormtroopers or start modifying their own equipment to have the first Rogue One model.
I kind of just hope they bought ANOVOS costumes, making the ones purchased already 100% screen accurate to the movie, but in reverse.

I hate that they simply use the nostalgic factor instead of doing something new. Hey look - the Death Star. AGAIN. Oh look - Star destroyers. I remember those from my childhood. Oh look - the boring woman from Episode 6 - I sort of remember her. I remember all those things, so I guess I have a reason to go see the movie it and buy some toys, sorry, I meant “action figures”, right?
It’s a teaser trailer, this is exactly what it’s meant to do.

I wonder if the rumors about them filming with the Ultra Panavision lenses were true. This teaser is in 2.39:1, not the 2.76:1 Hateful Eight was. Will there be two different theatrical releases, one wide, one super-wide?

What other one do you own? Why not the others?
Anchorhead is what we call a super-purist (no one has ever called him that before). He is a fan of the film “Star Wars” that was released in 1977 and the Radio Drama from 1981. He’s heard they made sequels and even PREquels (whatever those are), but he doesn’t care to watch them. I think we got him into a couple books at one point.
Anchor, what’s your head-canon now?

I get it: the network is sending out a 16:9 image, even to standard def TV’s, so when a show is actually 4:3 and would be pillarboxed, you get it really small with black bars all the way around (windowboxed?)
JEDIT: but this is what everyone else is thinking too.
