Just to assure people, the Echo Base models will be used for hanger bay matte replacements in RotJR.

TOS was remastered to sell to syndication, TNG to sell Blu-rays. That’s how much has changed in just a few years. I already suggested to the producer of TOSR that they should re-remaster it using the restored model in the Smithsonian, but I don’t think he’s going for it. 😉

Which was the admitted purpose of the movie? Except for the “visual imagination” part, this excerpt isn’t really bashing as much as him seeing what TFA was supposed to do, reintroduce the universe to new fans by doubling down on what people liked from the OT.

They transferred the Laserdisc master poorly, yes. IIRC, Laserdisc is SD, so 480i, minus the black bars of a 4:3 matted release…
