It’s produced by the people doing the Netflix shows, so it ought to be MCU.

I only saw TFA once, but the only piece of music I could remember when I walked out of the theater was the reggae-like music that was playing in the bar they went to.
That’s because that song was written and performed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and JJ Abrams, which is amazing.
I don’t know, I think “joined the Force” is pretty good.
Force Kick/Force Speed = Exclusive to Jedi
Force Lightning/Force Choking = Exclusive to Sith
Except that Luke chokes the guard’s at Jabba’s Palace.

And the Legends explanation was that he didn’t have physical arms through which to channel them and that him dying from Force Lightning shows it’s probably not a good idea to generate that yourself.
As it is, I think it goes on a bit too long. If no one comes up with any jokes, I’d just have the last couple bits.
Since head canon is such a big thing here this
is the face of Vader I know to be canon. Sebastian is still in the Ewok celebration though.
That’s… an interesting thing to decide to head canon.
005, is this getting less creepy or more creepy?
I’m leaning towards more, but I’m willing to listen to counterarguments.
I’m on the fence. He’s saying that he cannot objectify this woman in this movie because she was underage, but he’s also saying this shouldn’t dissuade him from objectifying her later, which I guess is his prerogative. He doesn’t seem to understand that lamenting the fact that she’s underage and therefore cannot be objectified in this particular role is creepy.
Natalie Portman wasn’t the decent actor she was in Ep 2, and she was probably underage too so you can’t look at her.
I can’t decide if this is creepy or not.
It’s creepy.
I really hope they do more stuff involving the holodeck in later episodes.
LOL
Come back in a couple seasons and tell us this, LG.
Which part?
Yes
what is upsetting to me is that we haven’t gotten to the point where skin color of the main protagonist doesn’t matter.
That’s exactly what I’m trying to say and I really don’t understand why is it upsetting.
It’s upsetting because not everyone in the world is a heterosexual white man.
Yes they are.
I give your joke a ‘meh.’
Thanks folks, I’ll be here all week.
Is this the part where I tip my server at the Ten Forward?
…
Are there servers at the Ten Forward?
Absolutely.
what is upsetting to me is that we haven’t gotten to the point where skin color of the main protagonist doesn’t matter.
Right. It’s our job as white males not to care, but if a minority gets excited about representation, we should be happy for them.
- thinking about how “diverse” she should be? If I was “non-white” I would probably find it offensive. NO STAR TREK FAN CARES about the skin colour of the main protagonist.
POLITICS ALERT
I always am amazed at how many white people think they know what minorities should or shouldn’t think about a given subject.
as with any other people, all one can do is try as best he/she can to imagine being in the shoes of the other person. It is not the same as actually being in the other person’s shoes, but it is the best they can.
Saying minorities should or should not care about something is the opposite of trying to imagine being in their shoes. It’s trying to force them into your shoes.
but is that what pittrek did? He just said what he would think about someone if he were a minority. That is hardly trying tp force the minorities into pittrek’s shoes
It’s more the “NO STAR TREK FAN CARES about the skin colour of the main protagonist” part that’s upsetting. Because a lot of them do.
what do you mean by different shows every season?
I mean that the next season would be STAR TREK: ENDEVOUR, and focus on a completely different group of people in a different era. Basically give us a bunch of Expanded Universe around the main action we know so well. That’s my hope, at least. For now. Who knows, I may fall in love with this crew and want to see them for the next 7 years.
But because it’s online, anything is possible. We may get a new mini-series (which this and most online only shows are really) every year or every other year with a new team and a new crew. All killer, no filler! No writers strikes, no network interference. This is what we’ve dreamed about. Or at least I have.
And neither will this because…
?
Or think of “Lower Decks” or similar episodes, which explored what life was like for non-senior staff members, which could make for an interesting series.
it makes for an interesting episode, but a whole series based on this? I’m not seeing it.
…it’s only 13 episodes long. I’m still hoping that we’ll at least get different shows every season.
you mean the first season is 13 episodes long, right? So again, would a whole series of “Lower Decks” work?
I’m still hoping that we’ll at least get different shows every season.
Or the senior staff is wiped out in the first 10 minutes and she’s the highest ranking person on board.
that would explain why wasn’t captain for the first few episodes, but why wouldn’t Starfleet either make her the next captain or find someone else to replace the dead captain? (unless this going to be something like Voyager).
Or a wartime situation. Say, the Romulan War. Deep behind enemy lines, etc.
they’ve already said this is not going to be about the Romulan War.
Forgot about that. Could be Romulans still fighting the war after it’s over. Could be anything.
New details on Discovery. Set 10 years before TOS!
http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/star-trek-discovery-gay-character-cbs-all-access-1201835052/Seems that they are doing the “Axanar” story line for the first season.
Axanar was specifically and explicitly denied along with the original Kobashi Maru incident.
Think of the Kelvin Timeline as another Mirror Universe. It’s always been there, always been different, it just so happens that our Spock got stuck there.
this may be the official line, but one ignores the official line for moment and just watches Star Trek 09, they will get the idea that Nero traveled back in time and changed history and thereby changed the prime universe into the kelvin universe. Otherwise, how did Spock Prime get into the kelvin universe? I think the movie just makes it look like he went back in time, not from one dimension/universe to another.
People who just watch 09 will be confused, yes. But I’m also sure they’ve heard enough fans bitch about the new timeline that they’ll know what “Prime Universe” means.
As for the lead not being a Captain, there’s a lot of possibilities there. From what I understand, The West Wing started out focusing on everyone but the President.
It didn’t stay that way for long.
And neither will this because…

I’m excited about every aspect of this.
The Xbox One does not support AVCHD.

I’m also amazed when someone thinks all fans of a a given franchise are the same.
I know a bunch of “non-white” Star Trek fans, and they are PUMPED for news like this, every time. Because, sadly, it’s still hard to find a character in fiction who represents them, who their kids can see themselves as.

But who’s on first?
I didn’t expect Doom-like play mechanics, but once I realized that I couldn’t get through the exploration, the fact that the shooting was so unintuitive pushed me over the edge. Another problem I had was all the dialogue where you have to choose what to say. That was taking too long so I just stopped playing.
None of these are even critiques of the game really. It just wasn’t for me.
So you bought the game knowing nothing about it or the genre it represents? OK.
P.S. I was, at long last, successful in my attempts to get Command and Conquer: The First Decade to run on Windows 10 thanks to a convoluted series of patches which intrepid fans have put together. God bless them. Now, I wonder if they have any for Dune II or Dune 2000…
Why aren’t they on Steam or Origin?P.P.S. Or the original Doom? Is that on Steam?
