Red and Gold kinda look waxy in the R1 shots. During the screening I thought “oh other CGI recreations, but they look more human than Tarkin though”.
My images are compressed to hell and back, so the effect should not be judged by my comparison.

We’ve got Gold Leader here, looks like they didn’t replace his cockpit as I don’t recall any new Y-Wing shots in the movie.
Red Leader indeed has a new cockpit with higher walls and a green light box (which is based on something in some shots of Luke’s), but it’s actually different than the other cockpits.
Blue Leader has higher walls too (or is sitting lower), and the angle doesn’t show his droid behind him.
Here are some BTS shots of the cockpit for further analysis.
I remember the tip of a Star Destroyer popping out well in TFA (saw it 3D simply because it was earlier than the 2D show… and souvenir glasses).

because of the telephoto lens you don’t think much of in 2D but in 3D it looks like the tip is going to stab you in the eye. I remember gasps in the theater when I saw that shot in 3D.
I gasped because the wipe into it was so disorienting in 3D.
If you look at the Blu-ray Changes, almost every major change is something that would have been closer to the audience. I believe they did make the 3D OT, or at least started making changes to prep for it.

And to clarify I don’t think doubleofive meant that Luke didn’t trust Leia and that’s why he gave R2 the piece of the map. If Luke didn’t trust her he wouldn’t have given it to TWO mutual allies.
It’s more like keeping a bad guy from just capturing R2 and having everything they need.
The real question is was Von Sydow protecting both Luke’s map and Rey? Did Luke know that if he sent people on a chase to find him, they’d also end up getting Rey involved somehow, because that’s how the Force works and how it worked with him?
Will you be restoring the marks on the ground in Cloud City before Leia escapes?
Are the shell casings (which is what they are) not in the DE?

Either someone (possibly Luke, possibly someone else) knew where Luke was going and put an incomplete version of the map in R2 (why?). Or someone tracked Luke’s journey, created the map, and put it in R2 without telling anyone else in the Resistance (again, why?).
Yes, Luke knew where Luke was going (all the Jedi Temples) and put an incomplete version of the map in R2 so that when people actually needed him they would be able to put the pieces back together. If he’d just left the map intact, anyone could walk up to R2 and find out where he was headed. The fact that no one knew R2 had the rest of the map is kind of weird, because it’s Luke’s best friend, of course he’d know what was happening. Unless he told R2 to lie about it or stay dormant until they found the other piece, which he apparently did.

Getting rid of those videos wouldn’t help Fox hinder the Despecialized Edition. If they wanted to put a stop to it then they’d probably contact Harmy himself. Do you think it was just a content ID match that led to Fox blocking the video, or a specific targeting?
It could be a content ID match, or any random person who reported it being linked by any number of the articles on DE.

Here’s my logic:
Luke finds an ancient map of all the Jedi Temples with a line showing their migration, keeps it a secret because look what happened to Jedha. After Kylo Ren betrays him, he goes into hiding by separating the map, giving half to R2 and half to Max Von Sydow, and follows the trail of the migration of the Jedi back to Space Ireland.
So it’s not that the map fills in a section of uncharted space, it could very well be charted, but imagine that in your example that its more like finding a guy standing between Utah and Kansas and you’re looking with the naked eye from Mars. As the scholar says:
“Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space.”
I like that Trump’s response on Twitter is to say that oversight was indeed wrong, but they should focus on ruining the country in other ways first.
