Not bad, but if HAN died we'd REALLY need some reaction shots.

I wouldnt mind seeing leia die. of course How in the fuck is it even possible to kill someone off of their importance. It will be a bitch and I garuntee that it will be even more of a bitch to blow up the 2nd death star without lando.
I'm pretty sure Ady means to have him die escaping the Death Star. There are no more scenes with Lando (except for him laughing and clapping in the background of the celebration scenes) and his role in the story would be done by that point.
As for those who would rather Han die: when, where, how? I'm interested to hear your ideas.
You basically have to go through the OT with the thought that everything Obi-wan says is a lie, even when he's telling the truth.
It's terrible that the movies had to come to that, but that's the way it is.
Me? I don't remember where that was, somewhere buried in the sands of the EPV thread.
Here the quotes I can find on Ady's opinion on the PT:
TPM : had its good points but you never connected with the characters the way you did with the OT characters and relied to heavily on the visuals to get your attention and not the characters and story. The humour relied too much on childish slapstick which even my kids , who were very young at the time, didn't find funny and actually found irritating
AOTC: i loved this film when it came out. Much better than TPM but the whole love story just didn't work. there was no chemistry between the two actors. For this i don't just blame George but Hayden is a terrible actor. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that his wooden delivery was down to the director but NO. Having seen him in Awake and Jumper since, he's almost the same character and delivers his lines the same way he did in the PT. Although there was one scene that i felt was his best which was when his mother died. Very powerful scene. You could feel the rage and that was great. The whole love story being stylised on the 30s romantic films well what can i say apart from there was no similarity towards that genre whatsoever.
ROTS: a good film in general but it became rushed towards the end as he tried to resolve everything. The "turning to the dark side" story was dealt with badly also. he gave up everything & turned too quickly. he didn't even bat an eyelid when the emperor admitted that he had lied to him and that he didn't know the secret to save padme. Now if you had turned your back on everything for some guy who promised that he knew this secret to save the one you loved and then admitted he didn't, wouldn't you be pissed? i know i would and so would every other real person, which is why his characterisation failed.
yes i will be doing the prequels GoodMusician. Actually i can't wait to get my hands on them. In my personal opinion i think that TPM needs the most done to it. I remember being so excited about seeing that movie but when i stepped out of the cinema after seeing it, i can remember feeling weird. There was something so wrong with that movie. It just didn't feel like Star Wars. I didn't get that with the other 2 although i did cringe at some scenes and dialogue and felt like ROTS was so rushed at the end, but i really enjoyed watching those movies. I don't think that the lightsaber duel between Dooku & Yoda worked though. I think we shouldn't have seen him use a lightsaber until ROTS. I love the part when the troopers approach him from behind and he cuts them down on kashyyyk. Can you imagine how powerful that scene would have been if that was the first time we saw Yoda use a lightsabre? I do like the PT but they just don't stand up to the OT.
When i first planned on doing the saga i wanted to bring the saga together as a whole and not have the PT ruin many of the surprises in the OT, namely Leia being Lukes sister and Vader being Lukes father. I want them to be able to be watched in chronological order. So in ROTS you will not have Anakin named as Vader or even see him don the costume. The last we see of Anakin is being led away in the life support chamber after it leaves the shuttle. Leia will not be named either. Palpatine has Maul, Dooku & Grievous in the PT, so when we see Vader in ANH we will just think that he's just another henchman. We will hear mention of Vader in ROTS but not connected to Anakin. And also the problem with Leia remembering her real mother but Padme dies in ROTS will be fixed in the PT, so no changes are needed in ROTJ.
Ok, so that last one contradicts me in a way, but I could swear I saw that he wanted more suited footage in RotS...
Maybe that was another editor?
It's interesting that Lucas has it written so clearly that Leia's mother died when she was very young, and she is specifically not thinking of her adopted mother. But then 20 years later he writes that Leia's mother died in childbirth, making most of that scene in RotJ pointless.
But I digress.
InfoDroid said:Lando's "sin" was selfishness. The only to fully redeem himself for that is selflessness. The points you mentioned demonstrate some selflessness, yes. But keep in mind the magnitude of his betrayal. Han would never have been frozen or taken to Jabba's "nasty palace" if Lando had made a stand...or even warned him in some way...C-3PO was blasted to pieces, Leia, Chewie, Han and Luke were all lucky they didn't get killed. And if they HAD been killed, there'd be no Vader redemption and the galaxy would never have broken the Emperor's grip.
What he did was baaaadddd....
If more emphasis was placed on Lando leading and orchestrating the rescue to try to right his wrong, maybe it could be justified. But in the movie more emphasis was placed on Luke's part in that. In my opinion, Lando didn't do enough on screen to balance out his misdeeds. And of course self-sacrifice is the ultimate expression of selflessness.
I agree that he should sacrifice himself, but how? I mean, if he doesn't make it out of the Death Star in time, that's not really selflessness, it's bad luck. Even having the Falcon's missiles jam and Lando ramming the Falcon into the power generator (like Independence Day, heaven forbid) would (a) be pretty much impossible to get across without extra dialog and (b) look more like a fault of the Falcon, since she counts as a character.

Some of the changes will be controversial but these changes need to happen. Jedi really needs that bitter sweet ending and an ending to wrap up the whole saga. it also needs to steer away from being a rehash of ANH. The idea was there from the beginning, as can be seen in Han's line, but that lead nowhere. I'm not going to budge on the ending, i'm afraid. in fact the only thing that will make me change my mind is if i can't pull it off convincingly.

Well you win the award of making my idea of killing off Lando sound like a racist one. lol
I updated the Wishlist to reflect the confirmation of Lando's demise.

The last one was the first official mention of Lando's name after he randomly mentioned months ago about killing off a character, which we assumed to be Lando.
Sluggo said:Bingowings said:... Padme still alive while Leia is a toddler and hiding her in a tree (both ideas I liked at the time but neither fit the bill now).
I don't recall that being in there. Could you post a quote?
Me neither, but it has been a while since I read it. I'm guessing it would be in the "do you remember your mother?" scene?
For his manuever at the Battle of Tanab.
It's "Rock Band: The Beatles." Literally, that's what it is. The Rock Band game, with Beatles songs and plastic instruments that look like their favorite models. But that is neither here nor there.
I think its neat that they're not only releasing them all in stereo, but releasing a package with all of the mono albums in mono, just in case you're a purist.
OK, this would be the coolest compromise ever:
Two versions: Lando lives / Lando dies
As the movie starts, choose "Original Ending", "Revisited Ending", or "Random Ending".
The last choice would be the way I would watch it. That way, you'd be on the edge of your seat wondering if Lando is going to die this time!

Problems with his internet connection mean problems for him sending me the shot list. We're working on it!
adywan said:there are a few other small things that may need making also. So many things left to do so i'm glad i gave ESB:R a 2010 deadline
It all sounds great. Can't wait to see some of the models in progress. The logistics of doing all that blows my mind!
Heck, I had problems sticking the cardboard wings on an easter egg!
Davenes, I'm loving your Endor Prime shots, especially the fleet arriving shot. The DS explosion is a little large and looks like it should have cracked the moon in half, but I suppose that's the point! LOL
Back to the stripes, I also noticed that Tydyrium has two stripes as it flies overhead towards the Executor. They tried, they really did. OK, maybe its just one.
Awesome stuff on the shuttle Sluggo! I believe that the stripes should be brought into alignment in RotJR. I'll post some mockups of my attempts to fix it.
Of course, we don't need to worry about Tyderium since it will more than likely be replaced by a whole new shuttle type.
Bingowings said:Now you know why GOUT ain't OOUT (or at least one of many reasons).
We'd have to ask someone with Faces or something, but are we sure it hasn't always been zoomed? Both shots of the Emperor from the bottom of the ramp are like that.
Thanks to vbangle's awesomeness, today I came into possession of Wookiegroomer's Splitscreen of the GOUT/2004. Upon flipping through it, I noticed something:
Notice the stripe at the far right of the screen on the bottom image? At first I thought it was a SE continuity fix to match up with the next shot of the shuttle:
However, upon further examination, it looks like the GOUT was zoomed in on the original filmed element and the SE just pulled back a bit, not sure why.
But more examination brought up more problems:
As you can see, there's no stripe in the long shot. Nor is there one on Vader's shuttle on his approach:
"Ah," but you say, "Vader's shuttle isn't the Emperor's therefore no stripe!"
Then why are there two stripes on Vader's when he lands?!
Quick and Dirty:
The Rebels find themselves in a completely different fleet.
EyeShotFirst said:Is the dialogue gonna be
Jango Fetts voice
or
Original Boba Fett Voice
Original voice. Clearly labelled on the first page. We've had the debates, recently even. Temura Morrison (Jango) did not do well, so the original dialog will be restored and Jango in his helmet will be redubbed in AotC.
EyeShotFirst said:Has anything been done about the sabers. They just seem a little too jumpy to me. And is vaders saber still pink.
Adywan continues his quest to redo every single saber, so most worries about lightsabers are handled by Ady on a frame-by-frame basis.
Changed images on my previous post. If it doesn't show up, it looks just like the Falcon, but available at home.
I think the answer lies with Ady buying one of these:
Master Replicas Studio Scale Falcon
and inserting it into whatever mattes need work. At least, that would be the most awesome answer.
Hey Ady! I built you a new TIE Fighter model for the shots you're redoing!
Admittedly, its a little small, and its starting to stink. Just realized I should have used a blue egg...
I was at my local Target a few weeks ago and came across a Star Wars egg coloring kit by "Dudley's". I can't find it online, but this is different from the Clone Wars one or even last year's Target-exlusive one.
The highlight of this one is the build-your-own-easter-egg TIE Fighter:
Pretty neat, but check out the wraps:
That's right. It's an Original Trilogy set. The copyright date you can barely see on the ESB egg is 2009. Admittedly, the stickers are a mix of OT and PT, but the main pieces are OT. Pretty cool.
Check out whole set:
My wife made the "It's a Trap!" egg, because she's awesome like that.
