Today is the last day to get me your real name for the ESB:R credits.

Just a reminder.  I only have 53 names!

How does this compare with ANH:R?

OK, compared to ANH:R's few names, its a huge number, but I figured since more people know about this project it would be a bit more popular.  I don't even have a few of the regular posters.

Even you, Sluggo! (I do know your name, I just didn't want to be presumptuous if you didn't want it in there.)

Here is the list of usernames I have real names for:

I'll donate some more, but I'd like an exclusive preview for the donors, like the longer 8 min or preview he did for ANH:R, sure it would spoil some of us, that don't mind being spoiled a bit. We'd also have the agreement to not post it anywhere online.

A couple months ago people were whining because it seemed like Ady was trying to bribe people to donate.  Now we have people trying to make Ady bribe them to make them donate?  This place is crazy!

Color Correcting?
Time

Most video software that I've worked with has some kind of color balance option.  I used the trial version of the consumer version of Sony Vegas to make my Lando Sacrifice video, and just with some sliders I made it look worlds better.

Compare this with another cut.  It's not hard to do once you find the option.  Slide the sliders till it looks the way you want!  You may have to do each shot seperately, but you only have to do it frame by frame with mattes or in Photoshop if its a really bad source.

-Overly bright/colorful laser blasts. Just because they are in the PT like that doesn't mean they work in the OT. Consistency for the sake of consistency is not always the best idea.

I believe that the laser blasts were all sourced from the best looking laser blasts in ANH, for consistency.  And I say that consistency for the sake of consistency is the best thing about these edits!

wonderful :-)

That is a huge improvement, but (don't you hate that word), unless I'm seeing this wrong, shouldn't there be less shadow on the turret? Judging by the snow the sun should be somewhere left of your (the viewer's) head. Yet here the background's sun is still behind the turret instead of in front, though this time on the correct (left) side.

He's not going to be able to fix the sun direction in most of the wrong shots during the battle, why not start messing with the sun right at the beginning?  LOL

I did mention that many of the shots in the trailer either didn't have some FX layers enabled to save rendering time or were unfinished. the trench being one of them.

Finished trench:

Looks great, always nice to have another preview.  You can't resist just saying "trust me", can you?  ;-)

I think I remember reading a while back that Adywan said the grain would not be static on the final release - something to do with rendering the grain , and he just didn't do that for the trailer.

Correct me if I'm wrong on that though.

He did indeed say that.  Saves time to render when he doesn't do the motion grain.

Well in the past few weeks i have replied to just over 30 requests for download links, from both here and ones sent directly to my email address and out of those only 2 have bothered replying with a thanks. So from now on i WILL NOT be replying to any requests for links. I also won't be sending out any more physical copies either because i've sent out hundreds already and i have to put a stop to it sometime or i'll be bankrupt. lol

That's really sad.  Really.

The most godawful sequel?

T4 suffers from several problems:

Am I the only one that was jarred by all the bad cuts and edits?  It's like McG fan-edited his own movie!  Scenes just stopped, plot and character development was obviously missing, it was really bad to me.  Its just so frustrating because I could see a pretty good movie in there, but it just got cut to pieces!

You know, I still have to re-watch the end.  IIRC the B4 thing is unfortunately too entwined with the plot.  (I still have to watch the end of Nemesis.  I'm having a hard time sitting through it.)

While most people blame B4, the buggy ride and Data's death as the big flaws in the movie, I'm starting to think just making Shinzon into scary villian, not clone could be a big fix.

It's not important to the plot, just the character development.  When I'm done watching, I may take a swing at this.

Is there any difference between the deleted scenes in the 1-disc edition and the 2-disc special edition?

But if you make Shinzon just a villian, how do you make up for the fact that he wants Picard alive for a blood transfusion?  Or why is he randomly dying?  He and Picard share a rare blood type?  LOL

I don't think B4 is too entwined, but I haven't thought about it, honestly.

Does VLC media player play in HD?

Janskeet said:

Does VLC player have a feature to move one frame at a time?

No, and it is the only downfall of that program to me.  I did reformat my system and set it to be my default multimedia player though!

EDIT: Yes, I do the screenshots for most of the Revisited comparisons by pressing pause and hoping its the moment I want.  Thankfully the beta for 1.0 of VLC has live preview, so you can just drag the slider and see where it is in the video currently.  It also takes one more copy of a screenshot each time you take one!  I ended up with 12 screenshots of one frame by the time I was done with the ESBR trailer!

adding LFE to GOUT (Released)

Sorry, I was showing my ignorance earlier - Prologic's channels are left, right, centre and mono rear. So if they could be decoded within the digital realm (no idea if this is possible), it would be a simple case to reassign them to the respective channels within 5.1, dupe the mono surround to both rear channels, and slot in the LFE.

The levels might need a bit of fiddling, but really it's the decoding that would be the hard part. Any ideas?

Well if you have software like WINDVD & a 5.1 soundcard you can play the soundtrack in this using WINDVD's dolby surround setting. You can record this on-the-fly by setting your record source selection in your mixer to "what you hear" in something like soundforge. you will then have the 6 channels. Save each separate channel as a mono wav files. Now you will have to re-sync this before making your 5.1 AC3. You can do this easily by ripping the GOUT video & audio to 2 separate files (make sure your ripping software doesn't split the files). convert the GOUT's AC3 to stereo wav in besweet. Import the ripped VOB file, stereo wav & your 6 separate mono files into a new project (audio set to 5.1) Sony vegas. chose the surround channel for each wav file (in the left panel of each audio track where you see the surround mixer for each track. just drag the diamond shape to the desired speaker and click on the remaining ones to mute them. for the LFE you will need to right click on the surround panel and chose LFE only. ).  Now the LFE you recorded with your surround mix you can discard. Use the original LFE from the 2.1 mix. This should already be synced with the GOUT. Select (highlight) the remaining 5 mono files in vegas and right click on one of the highlighted files and select "Group> create new". these files are now locked together . all you have to do now is align the beginning of the Fox theme in your mono files with the beginning of the GOUT (easy to see thanks to the wavform). now play the track. You should not hear any sort of echoing effect when you play the surround channels with the original GOUT stereo wav. Once you have the sync set, mute all other tracks apart from your 5.1 mix and you can use Vegas to export your AC3

Simple. lol

I think I actually understood all of that.  Does that make me crazy?

^Every edition Ady has released is in widescreen.

Oh, cool :)

It's just that the xvid copy that I downloaded ages ago was fullscreen for some reason.

That's odd, because the official XVID is widescreen also.  Perhaps whatever you were watching it on compressed it.  I've had that problem trying to encode my own XVIDs.

The ONLY doubleofive

Yeah, I'm figuring I don't have much of a chance, as I calm down.  I mean, Robot Chicken had to be "CyborgTurkey" on Twitter, and I'm sure they actually have a copyright!

It's not like using http://www.facebook.com/drew.stewart (feel free to look me up) will kill me, or I'm afraid this kid will be funnelling away potentional money or clients (for which I have nothing to offer anyway).  It was just kind of nice to be the ONLY one.

Maybe I should go the 80's cartoon route and call myself "The Real doubleofive"! ;-)
