The line seals it.

Piett was about to clear them even with the older code and after hearing where they were going.  There is no hint of suspicion on Piett's part, IMO.  To me, the scene almost plays as if Piett goes through this all the time with Vader and is playing along as Vader stares off into the distance for a minute or two.  Why is Piett even doing this, since the Executor probably doesn't hang around the DS2 all the time.  Shouldn't the DS have its own group to handle this?

The new shuttle design comes from the idea that Vader and Palpatine should have executive shuttles and the Rebels having the same design for "parts and technical" seems rather odd.  You'd think they'd have an older shuttle to go with their older code, and for a design we've never seen until this movie (SE notwithstanding), it just makes sense to have an older/different design, at least to me.

I'm excited about any changes!  Any chance the ability to post from my iPod Touch is in this update? :-D

Actually, yes. You'll find a setting under preferences that will let you disable the post editor.

For the next update, I'm planning a toggle switch right next to the post editor so you can turn it on or off on the fly. This will allow you to leave it enabled by default, but let you turn it off temporarily if you're posting from a mobile device.

You know Jay, I've heard a lot of terrible things about you, but it turns out that most of them aren't true!

Kidding, thanks for the update!

Vader stands looking past the camera for around 5 seconds not moving, theoretically we could create a new shot from behind him looking towards the rising sun.  However, the sun comes up BEHIND him if I understand the set design.

The camera is at the rear of the AT-AT, which means its facing towards the sun in the bottom shot (which matches the actors in that scene, believe it or not!).  Bummer.

Also, should this be Vader's shuttle?  If so, it moved.  Better yet, it should be a new class that matches whatever Tydyrium is replaced with.

While trying to fix the "original DVD image" holes left by someone's hosting moving or something, I found another edit that has been bothering me.

005 where this is happening?

14. Fix garbage spots in "one of the battle shots" where ships were not added.

It was a vague suggestion a long time ago.  That's why its in quotes, I'm not sure where it is.

Thanks Angel. Hopefully my final anamatic of your mock-ups for that little scene will make it to the list.

I'm just waiting for the final version!  The first draft was impressive enough!

Nooo! Keep the bummer sentence :D I liked that.

Thanks for ground me 005 ;) You remind me my limits! :D

I wondered if sometimes you work so hard to make a great picture that you don't think how hard it would be to do in "real life".  I mean, you could do it frame by frame, but everybody's going to need YOU to do it for them!

Still waiting on this redone opening scene.  Love the DS2 mattes you've made so far!

And I added my bummer sentence back in. ;-)

I could just mark some of them "Impossible" like I did with the "Move all the action to Coruscant." ;-)

A quick test of how it can be a little more realistic and blended rather studio like

Added reflection to the glasses, new blur on trooper too. Some tree shadows and I can hope a better sunlight.

Looks great, but I think we may be entering an area where doing these kinds of things in motion may be too difficult.  I'm not sure how hard Angel works on some of these shots, but I'm sure its pretty hard.  And having to do something like this frame by frame would be time consuming and might not look right in the end.

I mean, no one loves Angel's work more than I do, but we have to be careful not to get too excited for something no one's going to be able to replicate in motion.

I'm really a bummer, huh?

I guess it is a wishlist though...

Whoa, I've never seen that De La Foret before! Have I somehow never been fortunate enough to see one throughout all my years of browsing any and every store that sold old collectable toys, or is it perhaps another one of those across the pond exclusives?

No, it was available in US packaging too, it just came out near the end of the line so it was a little harder to get.

I have one, I guess I got it new since I can remember NOT having it and I was BORN in 1983.  Broke one of the guns off the side almost immediately, of course.  Ah, toys...

Nothing but goodness here.  Excited that this guy is working with you on ESBR, and the prospect of having different Adywan logos for each movie sounds awesome.

Too bad that my mind has already moved on to RotJ thanks to the Wishlist.  Can't wait to see what you do with it (still excited about ESB though!)

How would the Rancor look if the areas around the teeth were a bit darker or lighter (to give the mouth more of a Great White appearance)?  I guess looking at the last shot, the "gum coloring" would have to blend into the regular color of the skin (as the Rancor has no lips).

i don't think the teeth should be a clean white, only because of all the food it eats, so the teeth should look all yellow and decayed. i don't think a rancor knows how to brush its teeth.

He does have a keeper though, or at least someone to mourn his death...

Those Rancor pics are truly scary.  I think it can go from a puppet to something to give kids nightmares again!

Im preparing a storyboard for the new ROTJ opening. One more grander and more....powerful.

It will include new shots, replaced poor mattes, new paneling and ofc to show the grand scale of the new station.

More to come when i will make it :)

This is great to hear.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oola needs to go.

Love the new endor shots, Angel! Have you looked into fixing some of the Rancor shots yet? ;)

You know, I think that the Rancor is some of the best work of the DVD.  Seriously, why couldn't they have done all that work with rest of the movie, getting rid of matte lines and recoloring bad blue screens?  I'd love to see if Angel can tweak it further, but I'm happy the way it is, honestly.

Boba Fett is no longer in 'Return of The Jedi'.

I wanted to bring this back to the front due to the excellent commissioned work here by Davnes.  Not only did he cut Fett like I suggested, he also did some of the other tweaks we've mentioned on the list, and I think its the better for it.  I think things are tighter (a bit too tight in places, but could be fixed) and flow pretty nicely.  With some more work, I think it could be done and no one would know until after its over!

MORE THOUGHTS: still don't like Oola in the pit.  Slows things down.  And why does Sy look the wrong direction for the "uh oh"?  The crops could work with a 1080p source, but masking would work wonders.

Agreed 100%.  This totally proves to me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is absolutely no reason for Boba Fett to be in the film.  Great work, Davnes!

And yeah, I hate the Oolah-in-the-pit scene, too ...

With how many movies can you delete an entire character who is on the (SE) poster without affecting the movie at all?

Who would've thought that Ric Olie was also Danny the Dealer in Withnail and I!

Withnail and I - Danny the Dealer

He's also the British roadie in Wayne's World 2.  Which makes him 2 of my favorite characters.

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

And I would like to again stress me feeling that ROTJ doesn't need Fett at all.  He can easily be excised and it in no way impacts the story.  All that is lost character-wise is Han's bumbling revenge and defeat of Boba which is another bad attempt at humor and a poor end to the character.

Axe him.  He did his job and got paid.  Why would he hang around Jabba's palace macking on 'dancers' when there's more money to get in the universe?  He can have sex with skanks any time, but that's a different movie and I bet there's a fan-fic somewhere out there about just that....

Definitely, Boba Fett seems like the type of character that would get the job done, take his pay, and disappear into the shadows. Boba Fett in ESB was that character. If we just yank Boba out of ROTJ he will be the same as he was in ESB. After all, his appearance in ROTJ was just food for the fans. Hey kids it's Boba Fett.

Thirded.

Davnes is in the process of seeing how well shots would fit together with just straight cuts of Fett.  Then we'll know how much tweaking would be needed to flat out get rid of him.  Let's expand the Star Wars universe and make it a place where not only does everybody not know everybody else, but justice isn't/shouldn't always be served on a neat platter.
