That's the best argument I've heard for keeping Shaw in the ending scene, cap. Lucas' explanation that Anakin truly died when he became Darth Vader and therefore his ghost would look like Hayden is a stretch, and if its a matter of choice of what to appear as, why wouldn't Obi-wan and Yoda choose to look younger (thank goodness Lucas doesn't think like that)?

Since its technically a hallucination of Luke's or he chooses to see them as he knows them, Shaw as Anakin makes sense. He's never seen a picture of his father, how could he imagine what he looks like (and don't tell me, "The Force!")?

- 005 mentioned Vaderios' pictures not working. They work for me (in Firefox 3.5), but get cut off at the edge of the box. It won't allow me to scroll to the right to see the whole thing as before, so I'm missing half of his mock-up every time. I'm wondering now if that would apply to any wide picture...

Actually, the image you are referring to is his newest which is on Imageshack. It won't let you scroll due to something in the forum software, yes. His older images are blank spaces.

Was digging through Wookieepedia and found this (View Image for even bigger):

Which seems to be a fairly high res image of the matte used in this shot:

Apparently the image comes from the ScreenThemes that were released a few years ago.  Anybody have that, could be useful for certain matte painters around here.

Angel, you think you could use that matte there?

Venal, I've been thinking about Piett and your suspicion about his suspicion, and I guess you could be right that he would be suspicious since they are expecting this exact thing to happen.  I forget that the trap had been set a long time ago, and he may want to hold them to cut out that part of the trap that could fail (Piett being the pragmatist that he is).  Of course, in the end, Piett is right.  I love Piett.  Have you read how one of the ideas on this thread was for Piett to be a kind of tragic hero who also has a change of heart at the end and deliberately rams the Executor into the DS after the DS starts "firing at will" and hitting Star Destroyers along with Rebel ships?  It's one of my favorite ideas that would be hard/impossible to do, along with sacrificing Lando.

I'm not sure changing the shuttle type for Tydirium would be that hard, its in one or two mattes and a handful of shots against empty space or scenery that should be replaced by Angel mattes anyway.  I think Vader should have a plain white one and the Emperor should have the stripe on the front be more obvious or have more stripes (remember the different Lamba-class shuttles in TIE Fighter?)

The line seals it.

Piett was about to clear them even with the older code and after hearing where they were going.  There is no hint of suspicion on Piett's part, IMO.  To me, the scene almost plays as if Piett goes through this all the time with Vader and is playing along as Vader stares off into the distance for a minute or two.  Why is Piett even doing this, since the Executor probably doesn't hang around the DS2 all the time.  Shouldn't the DS have its own group to handle this?

The new shuttle design comes from the idea that Vader and Palpatine should have executive shuttles and the Rebels having the same design for "parts and technical" seems rather odd.  You'd think they'd have an older shuttle to go with their older code, and for a design we've never seen until this movie (SE notwithstanding), it just makes sense to have an older/different design, at least to me.

I'm excited about any changes!  Any chance the ability to post from my iPod Touch is in this update? :-D

Actually, yes. You'll find a setting under preferences that will let you disable the post editor.

For the next update, I'm planning a toggle switch right next to the post editor so you can turn it on or off on the fly. This will allow you to leave it enabled by default, but let you turn it off temporarily if you're posting from a mobile device.

You know Jay, I've heard a lot of terrible things about you, but it turns out that most of them aren't true!

Kidding, thanks for the update!

Vader stands looking past the camera for around 5 seconds not moving, theoretically we could create a new shot from behind him looking towards the rising sun.  However, the sun comes up BEHIND him if I understand the set design.

The camera is at the rear of the AT-AT, which means its facing towards the sun in the bottom shot (which matches the actors in that scene, believe it or not!).  Bummer.

Also, should this be Vader's shuttle?  If so, it moved.  Better yet, it should be a new class that matches whatever Tydyrium is replaced with.

While trying to fix the "original DVD image" holes left by someone's hosting moving or something, I found another edit that has been bothering me.

005 where this is happening?

14. Fix garbage spots in "one of the battle shots" where ships were not added.

It was a vague suggestion a long time ago.  That's why its in quotes, I'm not sure where it is.

-Vaderois, Angel's French cousin.

Thanks Angel. Hopefully my final anamatic of your mock-ups for that little scene will make it to the list.

I'm just waiting for the final version!  The first draft was impressive enough!

Nooo! Keep the bummer sentence :D I liked that.

Thanks for ground me 005 ;) You remind me my limits! :D

I wondered if sometimes you work so hard to make a great picture that you don't think how hard it would be to do in "real life".  I mean, you could do it frame by frame, but everybody's going to need YOU to do it for them!

Still waiting on this redone opening scene.  Love the DS2 mattes you've made so far!

And I added my bummer sentence back in. ;-)

Darth Venal said: Maybe we should begin a realistic wishlist then?

I could just mark some of them "Impossible" like I did with the "Move all the action to Coruscant." ;-)

Looks great, but I think we may be entering an area where doing these kinds of things in motion may be too difficult.  I'm not sure how hard Angel works on some of these shots, but I'm sure its pretty hard.  And having to do something like this frame by frame would be time consuming and might not look right in the end.

I mean, no one loves Angel's work more than I do, but we have to be careful not to get too excited for something no one's going to be able to replicate in motion.

I'm really a bummer, huh?

I guess it is a wishlist though...

Whoa, I've never seen that De La Foret before! Have I somehow never been fortunate enough to see one throughout all my years of browsing any and every store that sold old collectable toys, or is it perhaps another one of those across the pond exclusives?

No, it was available in US packaging too, it just came out near the end of the line so it was a little harder to get.

I have one, I guess I got it new since I can remember NOT having it and I was BORN in 1983.  Broke one of the guns off the side almost immediately, of course.  Ah, toys...
