Thank you, and I genuflect at your knowledge.  ;-)
Thanks. It was one of those surprising things that may have actually been planned out from the beginning, but ends up not really. Like Owen being Obi-wan's brother, still makes more sense to me than step-families in a galaxy far far away. Owen would be mad at Obi-wan for not only getting his friend Anakin killed (I think they would have been childhood friends), but pawns this baby off on him and disappears in the desert.

What should we call this version? SE 3.0? Want to bet the 1997 credits will still be there?
SE2011 (ES EE Twenty Eleven) is my new name for it. Or just 11 for short.

You're probably right about the 97 credits, if they didn't point out what has changed and the (honestly) hard work done by someone in 2004 that probably didn't work for LFL/ILM in 97, why start now?

And while that Death Star video had terrible sound, I have to agree that only Nein Numb had that weird effect...

Character question for the more versed, if I may.

When did the name Palpatine first show up?  I see it's in the Zahn novels and I was wondering if it's another contribution of his, the way Coruscant is.  I don't remember it in Return, but I'm not very familiar with that film.
It's not used in any of the films, but I believe the novelization of Star Wars calls him Palpatine.

*walks over to new bookshelf in the living room*

Yes, right here on the first page of the prologue. "Senator Palpatine"

Then why mention it at all?

I'm just frustrated with the way things have gone down lately.  Maybe I should just do what Moth3r suggested (since deleted) and just leaf for a while.
I wouldn't go that far, but I wasn't here for the lockdown. Where is 2x4 anyway? Haven't seen the "you've ignored this user" bar in a while.

And for those that are a little more discerning, what better incentive to blow money on a prequel trilogy you don't care about than with the lure of deleted scenes you've been waiting almost 30 years for?
They've nearly got me now. Of course, the changes to TPM are enticing as well. As much as I complain about the changes, I feel like I have to own all the versions now...

Then you are going to have to choose a language, as the english and german subs in this case are a couple frames different.
The problem was I started with the 97 Jabba which didn't have subtitles and matched the 2004 to it. Now that I have my own 97 source, this time I'll grab the appropriate frame in the 2004 and find the 97 to match.

Yours is fast, but mine is slow.

Where do we get them?  I don't know.

But everybody's got a water buffalo.

STOP STOP STOP!!!!  YOU CAN'T SAY THAT EVERYONE HAS A WATER BUFFALO WHEN IT'S CLEAR THAT NOT EVERYONE HAS A WATER BUFFALO!
This is true. He's going to have people calling saying "Where's my water buffalo? Why don't I have a water buffalo." I don't think he's prepared to deal with that and should stop being so silly.

Question: does this thread get into when things are redone.  For instance ANH Jabba SE/2004 got redone and there's comments of TPM Jabba 1999/2011 getting work done.
TPM Jabba is exactly the same, I checked. But there will not be Prequel changes categorized, as keeping track of the OT is hard enough.

And we do every deliberate change we can find, from even (especially) redone stuff.

Hey, can someone grab me the 2004 Jabba frames from HD without the subtitles?

Can you imagine if someone tried to piece together the plots from the prequels based on pictures like this?

"He's walking in front of a blue screen... He takes his lightsaber out and swings it around, then continues walking..."

Having been a regular TFN and VirtualEdition reader during the Prequels, I can confirm that it was much like that. Thankfully some info did leak, over time, and so you could start to figure things out.
ME TOO!

slight changes to Jabba who is now digitally expressive.

This is new, but not surprising.
I seriously doubt this. I just watched the Jabba scenes on Harmy's Despecialized and he is surprisingly expressive for a giant puppet, which is what makes him so great. Until we have a frame-by-frame analysis, I wouldn't believe this. Besides, this is someone who hasn't noticed the FREAKING BEAK in the Sarlacc in the last 14 years.

was just reading about the new blu-ray in a magazine (but foolishy forgot it's title!) and i noticed that the galaxy/thing at the end of ESB had changed to a big red nebula. does anyone know anything about this? it looked bloody awful.
That was in ImagineFX, Jambe Davdar has already confirmed on Twitter that its just the promo pic that someone at the magazine found and figured was new FX.

Wait a minute, so if you don't buy the full saga set you don't get ANY bonus features? WTH? So if I want the OT and its deleted scenes I have to buy everything?! That's really dumb, I'm sorry.

Is it REALLY that hard to say " sorry we fucked up the 2004 DVDs " ? Will they come up with more bullshit excuses ?
They're not going to say that, especially since you'll have to keep them around to have all of the bonus features. And now the 2004 version stands alongside the 1997 version as a unique version of the film.
