Spielberg comments on digital alterations to his films

Back on topic, I would like to say that Spielberg altered E.T. quite heavily (political correctness yeeeeaaaahhhh). Unfortunately, the original version was not available at first. Due to massive feedback the original got released as a double feature if I remember correctly. I still have that altered version on DVD on my shelf. Haven't watched it a single time after I found out that the original version wasn't on it. If Spielberg changed his mind (which rectified the whole situation for me), might it just be possible that one day Lucas will too?
Actually, the ET 20th Anniversary Set always had both editions, however the newest single-disc edition is SE only, I believe.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

Hunt's review is up:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviewshd/bdreviews091611.html

Overall, I think it's very fair, especially the parts about this is such an exhaustive set that no one is going to buy another one unless it has the original cuts. He did mention color fixes and transparent cockpit fixes (which are not true from what we've seen), and that maybe the colors and crushed blacks ARE deliberate.

Looks like none found some tweaks to the ANH saber battle:

Its just a brightness adjustment (look at the white panels for comparison), no new cores like in RotJ. It helps make the cores whiter, but definitely makes the color of the saber a more hot pink.

For being something they seemed to have recomposited in 2004 from the original elements, they sure are still messed up.

Complete Comparison of Special Edition Visual Changes

Thats a definate change! Very interested in ESB, as it would be the only one not given the new core treatment.

By the way, that set of picture of RotJ sabers is all kinds of out of order and has multiple frames from the same shots. I'm going to try to narrow them down, but it might take a while. You willing to grab the changed ones for me?

With the lightsaber fixes in SW, the change is a little more apparent, i'm counting 9 shots modified between Obi and Vader:

I'm not seeing the changes. I think its like the lights, whites just glow on the DIF. Are they visibly different in full color? Because they actually RECOMPOSITED the sabers in 2004, how could they already need fixing? ;-)

HOT DOG, that R2 video is comical. Is he that dumb looking in the Blu?

I still really like how OT.com memes are hand picked to be memes and become memes based on the whim of a few people, even though the majority of the members on the site never use them, don't know where they came from, and have no idea what they mean.

I still really do think we're missing the point.

Kind of like Snakes on a Plane being made with the intention of becoming a cult hit...
I refuse to inhale this post.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

There will be BD, AVCHD, and DVD9 versions, if I recall correctly. My favorite part is that they're all going to be the same version, no more XVID draft, DVD5 draft, DVD9 draft.

Which also means that we're going to have to go over the final draft with a fine toothed comb before its released...

The game feels a lot like Borderlands with depth, Fallout 3 with co-op, and Left 4 Dead with freedom. A very pleasant mix, and one of the best and most enjoyable games I have played in a long time. I really like having run-ins with the occasional human enemy as well. To me that adds a whole lot to the game.
That sounds awesome. I'm not sure I'll get it, but it seems like a rental, definitely.
