STAY ON TARGET!

But seriously, work is progressing using the Blu-ray source. There is more detail evident thanks to the less compression in the source, even after being compressed again to 720p.

Ming (Rogue Leader) has his own HD camera now (identical to Ady's) and is proceeding with tests to try again on filming new Rebels on Hoth, this time using the right framerate. ;-)

On the spreadsheet, was able to move the Script scenes into the Spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtjXdIjRQo5NdGt3cjV5VWdPblAwN2txNVJWV2ZmQ0E&hl=en_US#gid=0

Question for those into this, did I use the right script?  Used the Revised Fourth Draft: http://starwarz.com/starkiller/2010/03/star-wars-the-adventures-of-luke-starkiller-revised-fourth-draft/  Which is the version from the Annotated Screenplay, should be fairly close.  Was there ever a final as on screen script?

This version is ringing in at over 500 noted scenes. (even though the last scene is labeled 252)  There's probably 20-40 OMITTEDs being counted.  In the previous version was doing the actual film and needed to add three shots from a sequence of 10 scenes.
"Scene" does not equal "shot" though...

Correction: I didn't download the original comparisons, someone else sent me a ZIP file with all of them numbered and the numbered descriptions on a TXT file. All I did was upload them and put the captions with the correct pictures. I don't remember who uploaded them, someone here. There may have just been a link...

Anyway, credit where credit isn't due. ;-)

Well, actually as they're working from digital files, they didn't necessarily have to redo the wipe. They could have just followed it on the added element. That's what I'd do (and actually did on numerous occasions ;-).
The wipes were optically redone in 97, so the digital file has the wipe hard printed on it. They probably just followed it, you're right.

Those frames are great! I think that was the exact frame of Chewie's arm over the furnace that I was looking for (to compare the rotoscoping). I need to have a closer look, but they may have changed the wipe as it crosses the new element. They kind of had to, but I'll count that as another change, combine it with the wipe I already have listed.

I know why you chose the shots you did, but a lot of the frames are from the same shot, just different moments in it. Its no problem, just my (half-assed) criteria.

Two and a half men [sans charlie sheen] 0 balls - this was horrible - if the show continues in this vein it will probably see cacellation - and should.

The killed off the Character of Charlie Harper then proceeded to mock him in a way that is mean spirited and not at all funny - obvious jabs at Sheen himself. And they really didn't give Ashton much to work with so it still feels like there's a big hole in the show.
Holy crap! I never got into Two and a Half Men, but I wondered how they were going to handle Sheen being gone. They freaking KILLED HIM OFF?! On a crappy comedy show? Then made fun of it? How does Kutcher's character fit into all this? I was kind of hoping for a "Charlie is a time lord" thing and Kutcher WAS Sheen.

I'm using the retail.

Couldn't you have used the internet rips instead, it would have saved you the time it would have taken to rip the BD's to your hard drive and convert for editing in vegas, and you have done so much work with the HDTV source already?
Why risk compression artifacts from internet sources when he probably just let the retail disc rip overnight? Besides, since we go by the spirit of the law around here, leaked copies are illegal, retail copies are questionable.

An interesting teaser/side project could be a render of just the color correction/new elements with no actual film background. Like them against a white background? Could be interesting. *shrug*

And risk someone steals the new CG elements from the edit? Madness.
Watermark this edit quickly!
Nice idea tho. Pretty much a demo reel

Good point. I was thinking maybe seeing if some of the scenes could actually be recognizable just by the correction and new elements, new Cloud City windows might be fun to see floating in blank space.

Hmm... The Old Republic game?
Time

I wasn't impressed with what I read. I mostly get frustrated because its the same Star Wars universe, just 3000 years earlier. 3000 years ago THE SAME PLANETS were big deals then too. Tattooine, Naboo, even HOTH. At least SWG had the excuse of being in the OT times. And I liked the idea of SWG in the beginning Jedi should be rare and special. Having MOST of the classes be based on Jedi/Sith seems weird. How many people AREN'T going to play as a Force user? And the races, I didn't recognize literally half of them. I think they're going too far in some ways, and not far enough in others. In the balance between newness and familiarity, they still don't seem to know where they're landing.

Progress has slowed quite a bit recently, but the end is in sight.  I've finally got a DVD-compliant workprint that (assuming I can get it onto a DVD) I'll be watching next weekend.  From there hopefully just some quick tweeks, and then it will be off to the review crew.

October is a definite possibility at this point.  Stay tuned...

Just finished watching the DVD workprint and it's in real good shape. Just a few minor fixes to make, and I should be able to upload the workprint within the next few days.

The Ridiculousness draws ever closer...
Freaking. Pumped.

Does that mean the final edit will now be in 1080p?

All of the existing elements are in 720p, and I don't think he's going to do them all over again. I've always thought 720p was a good balance between file size, working resolution (to be edited on home PCs), and picture quality. It may be time to recreate the Admiral Ozzel Hat Resolution Comparison Image again. ;-)

This is probably a dumb question, but what is the advantage of using the Blu-Ray as the main source rather than the HDTV source? Is the Blu-Ray better quality/higher resolution?
While being the same resolution, the Blu-ray is much less compressed, making finer details even more fine.
