Episode I: The Ridiculous Menace (FULL MOVIE IS AVAILABLE TO STREAM, SEE FIRST POST)

Honestly the underwater bits are cut down as well too (no sea life attacks) and so the two segments combined are what, like two minutes?
True, true. It was just at that point in the movie, all I could think about was how slow paced the original film is, I may have projected that on your edit.

And I'm serious about the Airplane thing.

You want unabashed praise? I'm going to say its one of my favorite joke-a-minute comedies, right up there with Airplane!

Another criticism, I noticed how long the movie is while watching, even without the podrace. I think maybe the going through the planet core stuff could go. Either have the Jedi leave Boss Nass and next time you see them have them attacking the droids around the Queen, or have the Bongo leave the city (either having the first sequence or not) then pop up in the middle of the city. A lot of the reversed shots and "Ignore the things happening out the window" parts are in this one sequence. I think it might work alright without it.

Okay, what are the rules here?  Do I need to be spoiler cautious as I review?  Am I meant to offer constructive criticism or unabashed praise?
I tried not to mention anything I didn't remember seeing in preview videos. I mean, save for a few minutes, the whole thing was already on YouTube, we're just watching it all together in order. Right, Frink?

Stupid slow internet. I should complain to the IT guy at my-- wait...

Complete Comparison of Special Edition Visual Changes
Time

I remember seeing ANH on TV back in the late nineties. It was the end of the movie, but I wasn't sure if this was the SE or not. I saw some HUGE garbage mattes and told myself "This is obviously the original then, because they whole point of the SE was to fix all that, right?" Then the CG Falcon peeled away from the Death Star and everything I thought about the SE was suddenly different.

Battle droids - one of the things I thought I fixed in my first two workprint viewings was the battle droid noises.  They would sound fine in my headphones, but then listening on my 5.1 system they would be too loud.  First, are you on 2.0 or 5.1.  And second, are there specific ones you remember, or was it all of them in general?  Just an FYI, I've got notes back from two other reviewers so far and neither mentioned it.
She said it specifically during the breakfast cereal discussion while Gunray is on the spider throne. The hologram ringing sound in the next scene also seemed a bit loud.
I can see Mrs. [REDACTED]'s point on the Valorum bit, but I'll probably keep it the way it is.  Interested to hear if anyone else mentions it, however.
She didn't like the "Your Majesty"/"Senator" thing, but I told her "too bad" on that one.
The graphics might be partly related to overscan on your TV.  On my main tv, which is pretty old, it cuts off even more.  But on my newer, smaller tv it only cuts off half the O and the L.  I also just checked on my PC and it's all there.  Ideally I would have it redone so that any overscan wouldn't be a problem, but a lot of VFX work went into that clip (none by me, btw), and I don't want to push it (or wait for it).
Yeah, looks like I need to show greenie the "title safe" area on whatever he's editing with. I have a degree in this stuff, I just never get to use it.
And the clip was done quite a while before I came up with Darth Darth.  Someone else mentioned that previously, incidentally.  I guess it will be one of the errors that adywan will have to fix when he does TRM:R ;-)
No one else will notice. Just teasing.
Spock is one of the clips I was trying to get integrated into the workprint, but it got delayed and I didn't want to hold the workprint up.  I'm planning on it being in the final cut.
Fantastic.

Other things my wife noticed/liked:

The Sonic 2 music
Anakin's new parentage
Obi-wan in the 3rd person
Mace's reaction to sleeping Yoda

Twelve Reasons "Star Wars" (aka ANH) Suckz

I see the purpose of both of your threads, Senor TheBoost, and I completely concur with your reasoning mentioned in the other one.  There is room for genuine criticism of George Lucas, but I think there comes a point where folks just love to hate him and find every stupid thing wrong with him.
I thought the purpose was to mock this thread.

i've always wondered how you got to replace the lines. For example, when Rouge 3 was also Rouge 2. How did you manage to change that to "Steady Rouge 3"?

But seriously, I'm not sure from where, but he just found a part where Luke says "3" and put it in there.

From the ESB Radio Dramas
There we go, that makes sense.

I actually had a video chat with harmy on it this afternoon. He was able to show me one of the YouTube previews of his that I missed, and actually got to SEE my reactions to parts of it. It was super cool.
Does he speak English as well as he writes it?

I'll have to try it out.
He does, actually.
