Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

And again, we need to remember what this project is about - simulating the experience of high quality viewing of the original, rather then a perfect preservation, so some of the "invisible" "fixes" will stay either way.

Is your 04/11 list complete now 005?
The only things I'm pretty sure I'm missing are Ewok blinks, which kind of stand out. Other than that, I'm fairly certain we've got them.

To put it simply (and to partially answer a concern raised by 005), we believe that we have the fullness of truth, insofar as God has revealed to man, as well as proper authority to baptize. Remember, we believe we are a restoration of Christ's church. As such, we believe that many have missed the opportunity to receive the gospel. We make this available through baptism for the dead, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:29
I was trying to leave this thread alone, but I had to comment on this. That's the verse that's used to justify the baptism of the dead? Paul was writing to the Corinthians because some of them denied the Resurrection, but still were baptized in the name of Jesus. Paul was saying that who gets baptized in the name of a dead person if everyone is just going to stay dead? He was trying to convince them that they needed to accept the Resurrection to make their faith real. Even the context of the chapter on your site says as much.

I don't want to fight or alienate my friends here, I just had to weigh in. I'm done here.

Thanks to none's DIF project, I'm 90% sure we've caught all the differences between 2004/2011. From color shifts to blinks to jump cuts, none has scoured through the film finding minute changes. Have we caught all of the 2004 or even 1997 changes? Probably not, as we're still finding some interesting ones. But by the time Harmy has gone through all of them again, we should have them all.

Complete Comparison of Special Edition Visual Changes
Time

Every time I think I've been astonished by some of the changes, new ones pop up.

GL: "Vader's face is too dark in this shot."

ILM: "But we were just about to fix lightsaber colors..."

GL: "This is more important. It's too dark, I want you to lighten it."

ILM: "We just finished crushing all the blacks that you insisted on..."

GL: "Just do it!"

I was just thinking, when I was a kid and thought about death, the idea of never getting to see episodes 1, 2, and 3 horrified me. Now there is nothing I feel I'd be missing out on if I were to kick it. Maybe I need to start reproducing.
You've got to live until the OOT comes out in a decent format!

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

I was at a festival/flea market thing this weekend and found a booth that had nothing but framed pictures of movies with film cells from the trailers for the movie in them. They were pretty neat. He had two Star Wars ones, a small one that had frames from the SE trailer, and a bigger one that had some frames from an original trailer. The white solid logo, no original effects shots. The guy said that those were the only frames that were any good in the whole trailer, and even those we terribly red.

I still almost bought it, just for those frames. I didn't because we didn't have the money and the rest were SE effects shots. 97 Jabba was a definite "noooo" for me.

Discussion: Original versions on DVD wanted ... What to buy?
Time

The covers are terrible, yes, but that's all we were given. Also, keep in mind that the original versions are are sold as "bonus material" and they are copies of the 1993 Laserdisc that were basically burned to DVD by Lucasfilm in 2006. So instead of looking like this on your TV:

They'll look like this:

And that's if you have your settings correct! If you don't, it'll look like this!
