The Village

So what is the point of our village? By some of the suggestions, it seems we have modern technology, so we are not pretending it is the 19th century or anything.

Maybe in our village is made so we can all raise our families in a mid-nineties world where Star Wars is still cool and exciting and no special editions or prequels exist. Just three movies on VHS, a number of novels, stacks of comic books, and loads of silly merchandise that somehow actually still seemed cool back then.

If we made a movie about our island, it would feel like a period piece taking place in 1995 or so. Then by the end we discover they are really living in the 10's, and that they gave up modern life so that their offspring could grow up SW fans in a world where they don't have to experience the frustrations of all the rifts in fandom and the lack of originals on DVD and/or BD.
The dramatic twist could be one of our kids walking through the woods and finding a discarded Blu-ray of the Special Editions.

Xhonzi would be the one with the forbidden Blu-ray home theater system in a secret room in his basement along with his D-box chair.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I like the text on the screen personally, although it is a missed opportunity, it should have had Ozzle & Piet vitals, one showing Ozzle with breathing issues and then flatlining, & Piet’s heart racing and peeking as Ozzle hits the deck :P
As funny as that would be, I don't think Vader needs to see vital signs to know when he's freaking people out, and what other use would that technology be on a Star Destroyer? I doubt the Empire is that concerned about overstressing their employees. ;-)

And like always with these comparison clips, I see the errors I never noticed before, like Piett's shoulder peeking through the bottom of the view screen matte. You can't unsee these gaffes, making me all the more grateful for SW:R.
Believe it or not, its a Special Edition error!

That shot had to be redone because of the wipe, looks like they set the opacity wrong in their recreation.

Note the new displays, and the first glimpse of the 2nd Unit! Can you find them?

The Ion Cannon shot!
Indeed! Ming said that those soldiers were from a random take they did, not for something specifically for that shot. The best part is one of them reacts to the cannon going off!

Neat! I didn't watch the whole video, but I like what I saw. Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to back such a project, but I wish it well. Also found that the original games are on GOG.com, so I added them to my wishlist!

Shirley you have $15?!?

I just wanted to tell you good luck, we're all counting on you.

Two people have pledged $10k. That's a ton of money. Were you one of them, Dr. Xhonz?

Holy zombie thread, Batman!

Both were shot on film, as they were released theatrically overseas. Very few tv movies were ever shot on video back then.

I still have my Laserdiscs. And I captured my off air VHS recording of Battle For Endor a couple years ago.

That's what I figured.

When do we get Blu-ray's?
That would be a great injustice. I'd expect the stop-motion monsters to be replaced by CGI, and half the Ewoks would blink.

And Wilford Brimley would stop the movie to discuss the real threats of diabetus.
