Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

A guy I went to college with was in that theater. He got 8 bullets, thankfully none hit anything vital. Had he not been standing, he would got them all in the chest. They're leaving the bullets in, but he'll be fine and should be able to go home today!

He and his wife had just moved to Colorado Springs a few weeks ago, and then were evacuated to Denver because of the fires. They didn't have any friends or support out there, but another friend of mine's mom is from there and had her church go to help them out, which they appreciate.

Star Trek TNG on BluRay confirmed !
Time

The interview on TrekMovie says that they're using a CG Enterprise for shots they don't find, and they're using Tobias Richter's model, better known as The Light Works. I've always been impressed with his models for years, he now does the effects for New Voyages/Phase II. I love when they don't start from scratch when there are perfectly good fan works out there. Interesting that they didn't use the model created by John Knoll for Generations (and used in DS9 as various Galaxy-class ships) OR the one Gabriel Köerner (another ascended fan) made for the last episode of Enterprise.

The interesting thing is that all the remastered special effect shots are widescreen
I believe that ILM shot the effects for the pilot on widescreen film, as evidenced by the recreated credits seen on an early trailer:

http://picasaweb.google.com/102542760950977079734/TNGHD

You'll notice that the two "new" close ups are actually reuses from the shots from the credits, and the long shot is mostly CGI so they rendered it in 16:9 to match the others. The other preview shots (using effects NOT from the opening credits) have been cropped, as the Blu-ray is. Also note in the shot of the planet that you can see the left most edge of the film and the new planet comes out from behind it!

What still bugs me is that they rendered ALL the new TOSR shots in 16:9 for some reason.

Nerd-fail, doubleofive! Even if it was big enough to fill that, you couldn't put it on as FAT32 has a limit of 4GB for individual files :-p

Here's the cue for a bigger nerd to point out a workaround to this and make me feel small ;-)
You could reformat it as NTFS, which wouldn't work with some devices, but would allow you to overcome that limit.

Don't feel bad, its my job. ;-)

With this new four minute clip of awesomeness being about 90mb in size I'm wondering how large the MKV version of the final film is likely to be. I know it's been said that the blu ray will be 25gb but that'll include extra features too. Just thinking ahead about whether the MKV will fit onto a memory stick!
