Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

unlike some of the other sequences, it was an alteration that was clearly NOT what was originally intended in '77, and it was poorly executed in all versions…
Here's a frame-by-frame comparison of the three takes (1997/2004/2011). Note that until the Blu-ray, Han shot twice. TWICE.

JEDIT: Wikipedia has a GIF of 2004.

DuracellEnergizer's Guide to the Multiverse (Was "DuracellEnergizer's Guide to the Infinite Timelines Beyond")

This thread reminds me of Sliders, and the problem I always had with trying to find your way back from infinite possibilities. While sure, dinosaurs never dying or no one discovering penicillin are possible timelines, so are the ones where I turned on the light in the bedroom so I didn't stub my toe. Or cutting my hair last week instead of today.

So the Sliders should have come across a billion versions where the only difference was that someone decided to mow their grass in India on a different day of the week than normal and have been perfectly fine staying there.

The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn’t. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down.

I don't like how it undermines our intelligence. Lucas says he always intended for that to be the case, we just couldn't tell because of the poor editing. So no one in 20 years was able to figure out the mystery of who shot first (because we didn't know there WAS a mystery). I doubt he didn't have the technology to film and edit Greedo shooting first in 1976 if he had wanted it that way. It represents "Revisionism" to me in the most physical way. I think that's why I'm still upset about it.

Continues is pretty great. I do want to point out my little nitpick that the shuttle should say "Galileo II" on the side, but other than that it's all very well done. I love that Drexler (designer of most of the ships from Enterprise) built his TOS E in the computer at 11.5 feet so the camera would react to it as if it were a scale model and not a 1000 foot spaceship. It's the little details.

Soon we'll have Larry Nemechek (McCoy/Author of the TNG Companion) on my podcast to learn more about Continues.

I wish that I could filter this thread to only contain posts by AdyWan, so that I did not have to wade through all the chatter about unrelated stuff ...
That's why I made the wordpress. If Adywan says anything of great importance, I put it there.

JEDIT: Like he just did, a few minutes ago, on the Facebook Page

Sherlock?

I agree about the padding. There was an unnecessary amount of slow motion walking for my taste. Hardly any fast cut deductions, though Drunk Sherlock Deductions were hilarious. "Electric Thingamabob" and so forth.

Sherlock does seem nicer. I was going to say you can't have someone be an ass forever, but look at House.
