The Changes That Nobody Talks About
Time

CO said:

Another change that many fans miss is the Luke's wink to the Jedi Ghosts.  In the OOT version, he gives a quick wink to the ghosts as he walks away with Leia.  In the 1997, 2004, 2011 versions, the wink is gone?
I understand the re-editing of the ending scene for the celebrations, but the re-edited Force Ghost shots are odd to me. After adding Hayden, I can understand them wanting to show it off, but this has been since 1997.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

My friend came over the other day and was telling me how (fake) upset he was at me for convincing him to get an Xbox One. Now, every point I made about how I thought Microsoft might really have something here is gone. When they took away the always-on, they guaranteed that no one was going to fully utilize the cloud AI concept. And now that not everyone has to have a Kinect, they're not going to try anything pushing the envelope with it, especially if MS allows developers to utilize the processor space that Kinect was using. That means that some game might require you to have the Kinect unplugged. And without the Kinect's IR to control cable boxes, the all-in-One concept is pretty much gone.

Now I'm not an MS fanboy. I just appreciated MS trying something new. Now except for the dying WiiU (which even Nintendo seems to not be utilizing), the two systems are just PS3+ & Xbox 360+.

Boy am I glad I don't pay attention to the opening credits. =P
I couldn't help it! I was sitting really close to the TV, so it was right in my eyeline.

I got up early this morning to watch the finale before I went to work.

My dogs were alarmed by all of the cheering I did. I wish the SUPER SPECIAL GUEST STARRING credit didn't always ruin things, or I would have cheered loud enough to wake the neighbors.

I like that it wrapped up enough of the storylines that if it hadn't have been renewed, it was satisfactory to make a whole story, but left enough loose ends that we have a purpose for Season 2. If it hadn't been renewed, they could have wrapped everything up in a tie-in comic or we could just assume that they're still out there fighting the good fight (like "Stargate Universe", *sniff*).

"Phil Coulson, Director of SHIELD", I'm sure shirts with that on them are on their way to print shops. It would need to have construction equipment piling blocks to fix the logo that's broken in the poster Tobar posted.... I hope this happens.

Why Haven't You Put Me On Your Ignore List Yet?

As I was writing this something occured to me - if you put somebody on your ignore list and that person makes a new thread, will that thread be invisible to you because they were the OP? Or will another non-ignored user posting in it make it visible to you? Hmm.
You see their threads, you just don't see their posts without expanding them. Also, if you subscribe to a thread and you follow a link to it that was posted by someone you have on ignore, it takes you to the top of the page they posted in.

Neither here nor there, we're talking about Frink.

You're funny.

The Secret History of Star Wars Audiobook Giveaway!
Time

Remember when we thought this audiobook would never happen so we were going to make a fan recording and Zombie said this:

Anyway, as far as any permissions go, personally I think it's cool people care enough to do this, although on the flip side I don't think audio-books are suited to anything like this (e.g. academic books). My publisher might not be as nice about this, but I can pretty much guarantee you that my publisher would never even consider an audio book, so it's not like any business would be lost. I guess the only concern would be over the quality. That would be my main concern too, because it's hard for to envision an audio version of this book that isn't boring, but maybe I lack imagination.

And here, exactly 2 years later, someone shows up handing out codes for an official audiobook, which by the way sounds FANTASTIC. The reader does a Lucas impression. It's so great.

What's the MDS file for?
It allows you to check to make sure a file you downloaded is exactly what it was supposed to be. It involves the creator creating and posting a hash of the contents of the file, which they then share and you have to create a hash using the same program and make sure it matches.

Very useful for validating files, but I've never used it.

Last comic read
Time

I went to Free Comic Book Day at my local shop this month, picked up a couple freebies. They also had a buy two graphic novels get one free, so I get a couple more Civil Wars (Fantastic Four & Runaways/Young Avengers) and Matt Fraction's Hawkeye vol 1. My shop also did a clever thing, last year they had a raffle for a $100 gift certificate for like a dollar. This year they put the raffle tickets in bagged copies of the new Amazing Spider-Man #1. Since I was half-interested in that, they made a sale of a comic I otherwise would not have purchased. Clever.

I'm not a giant comic book fan. I have like 6 of the Civil War collections because I thought they sounded interesting, I got AvX because it looked cool. I do really like the MCU tie-in comics and have been trying to collect them also. On the DC side I have Dark Knight Returns and Red Son. Other than that I have a couple Trek and Wars collections, and I started picking up individual issues of the Star Wars ongoing series before I lost interest. Those are my physicals, I also have most of the Star Trek 2009 Ongoing series, and some other Trek comics on Comixology (along with every Marvel #1, thanks to them doing that crazy stunt).

All that to say, the last comic I read was Hawkeye vol 1, and I loved it so very much.

Hooray for renewal and spin off! I wonder how they're going to use "Agent Carter". I'm imagining it more of just a secret agent show, because being a prequel they can't have men of iron or alien artifacts. "Agents of SHIELD" shows us what needs to happen in a post-alien-invasion world and how they need to try to contain those with powers/technology. The only weird things "Agent Carter" will have seen is two super soldiers who both went down in a plane years before.
If they set in in the cold war maybe the first season will have then racing to beat the Russians to all the Hydra tech, after that I am not sure.  Still there was a lot of tension in that era that they could exploit for story lines.  It will be interesting to see what they do with it.
I like that. I keep imagining it'll be Carter worried about Hydra in SHIELD, but if she had suspicions like that back then, she would NOT still be alive in 2014.

A suited Darth Vader chasing down Jedi film would make up for some of the stupidity of ROTS and could tie in with the Rebels series.

At this point I assume that the Rebels series is the same level of stupidity as PT. I would prefer they don't link it with OT/ST.
But the PT is already linked with the OT/ST. Along with Rebels before it even debuts.
