Saw Avengers again. I think it's the first movie I've seen twice at the cinema since Spider-Man 2. I decided to check out the 3D version this time, as the last 3D movie I saw was Spy Kids in anaglyph 3D. It was quite impressive, but I chose a crappy place to sit and got reflections inside my glasses from an exit sign. I might have to see it in 3D again from a better seat...

One thing I noticed is that you miss a lot more watching in 3D. In 2D you have the focus chosen for you, but when you have multiple choices and focus on one thing, you miss all the others.

So, it came to an end.  With page/day 112, the Original Original Trilogy has come to closure and for a few pages I am reading about the SE work...  Then it's on to the prequels!  I thought of ripping the book in half and just keeping the OOT half... but the PT is quite interesting at a technical level.  So, I've decided to read it anyways...

I have that book. More like the OOT third.

* Approximately 30.7% actually, if I use a little something called mathematics. But I had this picture handy anyway, as I have bitched about the imbalance in this book before ;)

Spiderman 3 (2007).

I can't see what all the fuss was about.

You have to be a Venom fan to understand.

No I don't.

I've been a Green Goblin fan since as long as I can remember and the Power Rangers villain in the first one wasn't him.

Once I got over that I could enjoy the film for what it was rather than what it wasn't.

Venom needs it's own film series to work really well but it's not exactly Bane in Batman & Robin level awfulness.

Eddie Brock is supposed to be a brute, and Venom is supposed to be BIG. His voice had none of the menace that it does in animated series and game renditions and the origin story is ridiculous. I'm a fan of the Goblin and Venom and I think the movie Goblin was a far better take on the character than Venom's was.

My biggest gripe is really that there is just too much for one movie.  In reality there were four villains, and none got the respect or attention they deserved.  IMO, Harry/Goblin should have been the focus.  Sandman should have been left out.  Venom, if he must be included, should have simply been an instrumental character, but I'd rather they had focused on the "fourth" villain, Black-suit Spidey.  Peter's own darkness as he tries to battle Harry were more interesting, and I personally would have liked to see Harry never get redeemed.  Once Peter overcomes the symbiote and defeats Harry without giving into his most base emotions, then we could see the symbiote crawling off to find Eddie Brock, and then we're in a demanding place for a sequel while still having produced an enjoyable and not overflowing film.  I was disappointed with the film overall.

Yes.

I have to be honest, since this thread is discussing the merits of films at the moment, I personally enjoy X3, and while it has some flawed character usage and some cheesey RPG elements (Level 4 mutants?!), in many ways it's my favorite of the trilogy.  It takes risks and alters/kills major characters.  It is emotional.  It didn't get old to me as quickly as the previous two did.  It's exciting.  And it has far and away the best soundtrack of the trilogy.  People talk like it's a horrible movie, but it's much better than the X-men prequels that don't even fit the continuity.

X-Men: First Class is waaay better than X-Men 3.

we started on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" this week. What a great show!

Yay Scoobies!

I am not thrilled with The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes season 2. For a start they now have a stupid voiceover obscuring all but one guitar riff of the "Assembled We Are One" song which I had grown to enjoy. They ruined Cap's costume (again), and instead of consolidating the dynamic of the team they had in season 1, they introduce a whole new bunch of people. Probably to sell more action figures... I was just waiting for the "Michael Korvac" episode to hurry up and finish. I don't care about SWORD or Ms. Marvel or interplanetary frickin' RACCOONS DAMMIT!

doubleKO, why do you object to getting something for free?

If it is something I don't want then I don't want it (shut up Ric), it doesn't matter if it is free. Would you like a free... well, just imagine the things I could come up with. I don't read that paper, why should I be forced to deal with recycling it every week when it amounts to junk mail for me? A simple "No Junk Mail" sign on the letter box wards off most unwanted paper, but these wanton criminals keep chucking half a tree on my lawn every Thursday.

I'm shocked that skyjedi didn't start this silly thread.

Boo! Leave skyguy alone! So he hates everything, at least he knows exactly why and who is to blame. He is often right, and I would rather hear it a dozen times than not at all. I will concede to being in the minority, but I'm sure there are others who miss skyjedi.
