Some technical questions as regards new computer and various electronic devices.
Time

You should have antivirus software installed on the new computer that can scan the iphone for viruses etc. before any sync takes place, if that is what you are worried about. Just plug it in.

If you aren't worried about plugging it in, but still don't want to sync and the iphone is out of warranty, jailbreak it. Access the iphone's file system and copy & paste your photos to the external drive (this may require renaming).

If you can't or won't do either of these, look for an app that will allow you to send them all straight to the PC via WiFi. If you are stuck e-mailing them, look for an archiving app (like WinZip) that may help cut down the number of files you have to attach.

Not sure about the music - I would delete the itunes library and reinstall the software. I assume you have tried playing the files in another player to verify that they aren't corrupted?

FYI, if you're noticing/fixing advanced audio by using the audio delay feature of your AVR, the value may not be correct.  i.e. if your display delays video by 80ms on its own (which would not be unheard of), you may be able to add an audio delay of 50ms on your AVR to make it go away--because that brings it into the realm of an unnoticeable mismatch, not because 50ms was the amount the audio was actually advanced.

I'm not picking on you, I have no idea how you determined 50ms for yourself--it's the "plenty of other videos" part that made me think of this.  But any time someone says they can hear a 10-20ms sync difference, you can bet it's because they set 10-20ms on their AVR to make it go away, not because they can actually detect a difference that small.

I meant watching with MPC on my computer, but yes plenty of videos where applying a 50ms delay fixed the problem. Just my best guess of what I could actually notice.

One frame is not likely to be detected, which is why nobody said anything before Darth Mallwalker checked the title card (even when the audio was being discussed).  I can confirm that the title card appears on frame 689 though.

Those who wish to fix this can run the audio tracks that they want through eac3to.

eac3to input output +42ms

Ah, so I guess Darth Mallwalker meant seconds. I thought .041ms would be way too small to notice, but I have previously noticed advanced audio of around 50ms in plenty of other videos so I guess it's not the placebo effect.

So a one frame audio advance is 42ms? And would this be the same for any video that is 23.976 fps? Do you not trust mkvmerge/tsmuxer to apply the delay correctly or is eac3to just your preferred method?

Thanks for your DVD versions by the way.

14 Razors.

14 consecutive times, I've shaved in the shower then arced the used razor over the shower door, off the wall, and into the little trashcan.

Today the Streak ended.

You only use a razor once? You must be rich! Or have a beard made of steel wool...

How do people use these ear plug style headphones? The sound quality is better than my ear buds, but every tiny movement I make is amplified through the cord like a freaking stethoscope. Speaking of which, I can also hear my heartbeat. Great for listening at high volume while remaining perfectly still :P
