I PM'd Jambe asking if he has an NTSC DVD copy of it. His profile says he was on the forums yesterday, so maybe...

Awesome, hopefully we hear back.  I was out of the loop back when this was released.  Only had the 2004 DVD set.  I didn't get fired up about Star Wars again until I picked up the Blu Ray set in 2011 and saw how bad they were lol.  Meanwhile I'm downloading the PAL and will attempt the "cheat conversion" with IFOedit.  I don't have any DVD players, just a PS3 and Sony Blu Ray player.  I will be testing it with these and will report back.

Yeah that works, I'm pretty sure I can convert to NTSC anyway.

What program do you use?

Does it include the menus?

That's the problem I'm trying to figure out. I can't find a program that will convert without requiring re authoring. I have a region free DVD player but I'd like to burn this for friends as well. Working on finding a program with a simple conversion process that retains the menus

No the way you had it released in the MKV is fine.  It's my problem for not knowing enough about this sort of thing.  But through Google I found a program called Machete.  I was able to extract the PCM, save it as Wav, then convert the wav to AC3 for my AVCHD version.  My crappy TV speakers don't do the higher quality audio justice anyway.  But I love the 720p anamorphic video stream and the AVCHD displays beautifully on my screen with no compression artifacts present.  So thanks for a beautiful transfer and I'm very much looking forward to Empire and Jedi!
