Info & Info Wanted: Godfather 1 and 2 Chronoligical version edit project?

And that means its censored and potentially has sloppy editing from cutting out the commercial interruptions. The best way to do this project would be to use the GF Epic/Saga laserdiscs, perhaps even editing together an ultimate cut with the unique extra scenes that each version has, as well as the extra deleted scenes from the DVD that neither version implemented.

There are no scenes on the DVD's that neither version included. The only thing that has scenes not included on the DVD was the Saga airing. It has an alternate intro to part 2. All the DVD's included were the scenes from the VHS/Laserdisc sets. The DVD was pretty slippily put together, IMHO.

I actually have a VERY busy business life and do other projects with my musical interests that aren't even listed here. I might attend to some of those since they're sitting on my hard drive. I might throw up some others that are already mastered but we'll see. I have no immediate plans to release any of the other titles. It may just be what i'm feeling in the moment or what's easiest to complete.
I do have a bunch of discs to get to Babyhum because he was going to use some of my masters for Star Wars stuff...plus I wanted to do some more Indy stuff.

Thanks for the support and the interest! Please let me know what you think when it's done downloading.

Re-encoding audio kbp rate?

In any case, this should work for you once you amend the path of BeSweet & names of the source/destination ac3 files:

"C:\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Source.ac3" -output "C:\Destination.ac3" ) -azid( -c normal ) -ac3enc( -b 384 -6ch )

I have no clue what you just said.

BH, what are your sources for the Making of SW and Empire? Just curious cause I've done my own versions.

They are indeed the Japanese remastered laserdiscs.

Ah. It's really too bad about those subtitles. I'd rather take my VHS sourced once (which look great) than having japanese subtitles written all over it.

It is too bad, but, before anybody starts bitching about the subtitles on these forthcoming releases, I'm releasing them purely for those who want a better quality image and of course, our Japanese friends who would appreciate a subtitled release. There are plenty of non-subtitled versions out there. Maybe DFNYC would want me to release his transfers?

Actually...all the transfers I've seen were the ones with the subtitles. Not trying to start a fight. If you want to release mine, go right ahead!

Authoring DL DVD's?
Time
I don't think it was set properly because when i played it back on my PC, there was no pause where I had set it.
I haven't tried it on my regular player (which has no problem playing burned DL discs). I guess i'd have to watch the whole movie to figure out if it was placed at the right section.

I guess what i'm asking is:
If i go into pre-mastering and set the layer break (with the red O next to it), I'm assuming it's set and all I have to do is burn like usual?

Use the GUI program that's available for it and it's a piece of cake to do.

I really can't stand BeSweet. It NEVER works for me. I think i need a step by step tutorial from someone actually here because even the ones online don't even work for me.

I do have a question about the IFO editor on DVD-lab for those with knowledge of it. There is a Quantization option which lists various BPS's as well as dynamic range control as an option. Any idea which I should use?

Dynamic Range Control is normally related to AC3 audio, and there is a relationship between The Dialogue Normalisation levels and the RF Overmodulation, which if set wrong can cause the audio to 'pump' on some systems (Only seen it happen on Apple's DVD Player and you could turn off the feature).

HTH or I'm getting mixed up with something else!

Yes, it's the audio IFO editor. I'm not sure which I should set it to. There are 4 options.

It will also be dual-layered (the first disc).

GAHHH I need a Dual layer burner!! who wants to buy me a christmas present?!

They're really cheap. Mine was (I believe) $40. Very cheap.

You can always burn a single layer version.

BTW, the sync is correct by my eyes. All I have to do is add chapter stops and I'm done.

B.

Oh I have this. Forgot I even had it.

For those doing the Nightmare 5 stuff, would be cool to add in that extra footage from the laserdisc into the current DVD edition.

Ash,

I'd love to do Superman 3 and Die Hard 3.

Oh...one other thing. I don't know who's making these for you but I would definitely try to NOT use a PCM track for them. Although it's great to have uncompressed sound, the decrease in visual quality (when using a PCM track) is much greater than the decrease in sound quality (when giving the edge to video)...especially with a mono soundtrack.
