*** The Official DigitalFreakNYC Release Thread*** (SW, Indy + Others!)
Time

For those who enjoyed Kingdom, you're in luck: I have about 20 gigs of news footage from its release. I'm just about done editing and putting it all together. The sad part is that I lost the TVguide special, which was 30 minutes (i believe, possibly 60) and probably the best special done on the film. :( If anyone has it, please let me know.

I will be releasing these on dual-layer discs so as to not split it up too much. I'm trying to conserve space.

So, these are widescreen prints?

They are anamorphic and would thus ordinarily require an anamorphic lens to project. I will be "cheating" by capturing the anamorphic image as a normal frame and squishing it into 16:9 in post. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to do this while retaining the best quality, I'm all ears.

You'll have to capture it as a 4:3 and then change the aspect ratio to 16:9...and then add the extra lines of "black."

No?

Please please please someone torrent ASAP!!!

It is not even fully uploaded to the newsgroups yet, just download Grabit and pay $25 to Astraweb for 110 GB's and get it tonight.

then you won't have to beg for a torrent, torrents suck for these big files anyways, who wants to seed forever just to have people hit and run?

I know zero about newsgroups. Why should I pay $25 for it when I don't need it right away? I prefer torrents or rapidshare. It'll be on both eventually.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I'm not saying that what I've done looks bad by any means...I've just always used dvdrhelp as my guide for doing this. I use Procoder as well.

Thanks for the info and, again, no disrespect to what you're doing here. I downloaded the clip last night and it played perfectly on my PS3. My DVD's are going to gather dust at this point. I might as well sell them.

I've done my own PAL2NTSC projects as well so I know what I'm talking about.

How do you do your PAL2NTSC conversions then?

I use TPMGenc. You'd do a conversion from 25fps to 23.976 which has more of an effect visually than on the audio.

You're doubling frames to keep up with the correct speed.

The audio is totally fine.

I wholeheartedly agree with Ady on this one,I have done ALOT of PAL2NTSC custom DVD's and have seen NOTHING that would show any kind of quality drop at ALL,hell depending on filter chains, and the way you set up your avs script,it could look better,I LOVE taking rare OOP PAL DVD's that we do not have here and converting them, this is actually what I have been doing lately LOL.

So Ady you are dead on and correct.

DJ

I've done my own PAL2NTSC projects as well so I know what I'm talking about.

But are you slowing them down or keeping them at the same speed?

i'm afraid you are totally incorrect there. Slowing it down does not create any extra artefacts at all. the encode is done at the 25fps speed and then the frame rate is changed only. No other encoding process is happening at all. so its impossibly for any extra artefacts to be there. And Europe does have 1080p braodcasts because the BBCHD channel broadcasts 1080p and not 1080i which is the more common.

Please explain how you can take something that's captured at 25fps, slow it down and stretch it to 24fps and NOT include any artifacts? Unless you're not doing the stretch, that would be impossible.

Actually, this is inaccurate. There is no such thing as a 1080p broadcast.

Not in America. That's why Adywan uses the German HDTV broadcast.

So he slowed it down to be 24fps? That would introduce a host of other artifacts.

man, you guys sure quote a lot, why don't we go over to original thread

here , and discuss it:

Man...I still can't believe you have those film prints and know so little about film.

If they're the german broadcasts, they're in PAL. PAL is sped up at 25fps. If you slow something down from 25-24...that will introduce other artifacts that maybe YOU cannot see but others will. The question is whether they were sourced from NTSC or PAL broadcasts.

Adywan, do your new HD ersions have better picture quality than you revisits? Obviously they do or you wouldn't have them separate. But to this day the best source of SW is the '04 DVDs right, all thius HD stuff isn't SW in True HD. It's artificial HD, because there is n way to truely get better picture quality from DVDs right?

Janskeet you really should read up on what HD is and that my HD versions are from a high quality HD broadcast in true 1080p HD and therefore NOT artificial HD at all. These have nothing to do with my revisited edit at all so any questions about the differences in picture quality between the two is irrelevant because they are 2 totally different movies so that is why there are 2 separate threads.

The best source is not the 2004 DVD's at all. You really need to read the thread before posting . you seem to be just posting for the hell of it sometimes and doing this will only get you put on peoples ignore list. I noticed you just made a new thread about where my HD thread has gone when its only a few posts below this one.

Edit: i guess you beat me too it negative1. lol

actually as far as the commentary goes... , it was pretty funky...but the word is 'defunct'

Ah well. I guess thats what happens when i have no sleep working on 2 projects at once. lol

Would anyone be able to torrent this AVCHD version at all? If Negative1 is torrenting the HD-DVD version then it would be great if someone can cover the original AVCHD version for a torrent.

thanks

I'd love to torrent your blu-ray version if you send a copy. I can't do newsgroups.
